Eastern Counties Yorkshire Terrier Club Open Show - 6th April 2024

Many thanks to the committee for the kind invitation to judge this well run show and for looking after me so well.

Thanks to Edward Eddery who kept the ring running and in good order.

Minor Puppy Dog (2, 1)

1st) Hasiova’s Jestidek Marvellous Marty; 7 months old or thereabouts and a good start to the day. Correct head and eye, big teeth & well set ears. Good to go over & in good coat of decent colours for age. Can settle a touch in front but used himself well & was accurate. BPD & RBPIS. 

Limit Dog (1, 0) 

1st) Davies’ Wenwytes Word Games with Yorkalsa; just over 6 years & in pristine condition. Lots to like here, head and eye very correct & with good balance of skill to foreface. Nicely made and used himself correctly on the move. Beautifully conditioned coat & clarity of colour. 

Open Dog (3, 1)

1st) Hasiova’s Canabis Wild Fantasy; only 17 months & so at the opposite end of the spectrum here to his competition; and by virtue of his age he was less mature, as ks to be expected. Good head and eye, correct expression and balance, ears well set & of correct size; much to admire when going over him and he used himself well on the move. Colours are acceptable and presentation was first class. BD & RBIS/BOS.

2nd) Skarulska’s Multi Ch Have Fun Stribrne Prani (IMP CZE), 6 years old and at the zenith of maturity. He did give me much food for thought as he is in peak condition and was very balanced and generally good to go over. Not quite the front of the winner & colours could also be richer, but I appreciated his virtues and admired him for those. Beautiful hard condition and hammy hindquarters & he was presented in superb order. RBD. 

Veteran Dog Or Bitch (3, 0)

1st) Carr’s Willihelm Special Romance, 7 years old & a beautifully typey bitch of great colours and clarity. I liked her head and eye, good expression & well set ears. Not giving her age away; she belies her years, being very free & true on the move; and well made throughout. 

2nd) Dodd’s Brookstream Amazing Grace, a few months older than the winner & a real cutie. Lots to like, smaller in size & finer in head. A touch reluctant on the move, but when she got going; she was sound both ways. 

Pet Trim (2, 1) 

1st) Carr’s Hassendean A Little Magic, almost ten years old & looks less than half of that age! A real cutie, sound and free on the move and full of expression! Loved her. 

Puppy Bitch (2, 1)

1st) Skarulska’s Maganyork Summer Love, really beautiful puppy of 10 months, lots to admire here and shows so much potential both on the table and on the move. Good head and expression, well bodied for age; colours look good & coat is super. One for the future. RBB, BPB & BPIS. 

Post Graduate Bitch (1, 0)

1st) Carr’s Willihelm Dreams of Love, lovely sized bitch and well balanced. Decent head and expression and fair front; firm topline & well set tail. Went with a fairly sound action when settled and used herself well. Coat presented well & of good texture. 

Limit Bitch (2, 0)

1st) Carr’s Willihelm Loving Moment, almost 5 and litter sister to the winner of PGB; more forward than her sister & projects herself in a better light; liked her expression and character, admirable sort to go over and fairly sound on the move. Presented and handled well. 

2nd) Dodd’s Brookstream Amazing Grace 

Open (2, 0)

1st) Skarulska’s Ch Maganyork I Want It All, stood out in this entry; four years old almost and I understand she gained her crowning CC earlier in the day under Frank Kane. Lots to like about her head and eye, even if I would not want it any stronger in muzzle. Good forelegs and correct shoulders; firm topline and well set and carried tail. Uses herself well on the move and went with a true action, which was both free and easy. Coat of good colours and texture, BB & BIS. A good day for her owner/breeder, well done.
