Merioneth Agricultural Society 2024 – Pastoral Breeds

Collie Smooth

Post Graduate (2, 1)

1st) Leavesley’s Lizoni Lone Ranger, very shapely standing, good head and eye, in good condition but was a touch choppy on the move in front. In good coat and condition .

Open (2, 1)

1st) Jerrett’s Coldelee Eternal Sunshine JW, very shapely standing and moving, good expression but ears I thought even too large for a breed with moderately large ears, but she does go so well and is a really super mover.

Collie Rough

Puppy, (2, 0)

1st) Flowers’ Serenlas Truly Scrumptious, very nice bitch who is a good shape and type and is a typical bitch; very sound and free on the move and goes with ease and accuracy. A little more coat wouldn’t do her any harm.

2nd) Williams’ Essanjay Heartbreaker, quite similar to the winner in head and outline; but not quite so accurate on the move and could do with firming up a little. Well handled and presented.

Junior (1, 0)

1st) Congdon’s Aaronwell Able Mable, shapely and sound, very good expression with a lot to like, particularly on the move where she was sound and free.

Open (3, 0)

1st) Flowers’ Androma Dreamcatcher at Serenlas, very good shape and type for the breed, goes so well on the move and has lots to admire. Well presented and handled.

2nd) Congdon’s Aaronwell Able Mable, see junior.

Shetland Sheepdog

Puppy (1, 0)

1st) Hateley’s Mohnesee’s Ninabelle 8 month old bitch with everything going for her, star quality and she has so much to like, super head and eye, gorgeous body and the capability to go all day, a real star of the future.

Graduate (4, 0)

1st) Hateley’s Mohnesee’s Meliya JW, lots to like in this bitch, so sound and shapely and she goes with such freedom and ease. Well presented and handled.

2nd) Sapsford’s Sandwick Opalescent for Shelcrest, a very smart puppy, lots to admire and shows a lot of promise. In beautiful coat and condition.

Open (5, 1)

1st) Hateley’s Mohnesee Coconut Cream, most admirable shape and type and not overly glamorous; I could see her doing a days work on the Shetlands, such was her accuracy and precision. A real beauty who is difficult to fault.

Australian Shepherd

Junior (1, 0)

1st) Bluck, Timperon and Edwards’ Triforce Fin Raziel, lots to like here, very good head and eye, goes so well on the move being so free and easy; but needs to body up to compete at a higher level.

Open (4, 1)

1st) Robert’ Troya Elvikam of Dreamtale (IMP POL), lots to like here, very typical of the breed, good head and eye, so expressive, shapely and sound on the move.

2nd) Mee and Holligan’s Lamintone For A Reason (AI), another good one and I thought he may have been the winner but he wasn’t anywhere near as firm behind as the winner on the move.

German Shepherd Dog

Puppy (2, 0)

1st) Amis and Stanley’s Droyales Present Verdandi, beautifully bred and most typical. Good head and eye, goes so well; so shapely and holds his shape on the move. Lots to like and so promising.

2nd) Davies’ Wilczyjar Candy, quite typical longcoat, needs a lot of time and more body. Didn’t have the shape of the winner or the carriage, and quite poor feet.

Graduate (3, 0)

1st) Brett’s Chica Gauapa of Blanik, admirable sort, lots to like, goes so well and is shapely and sound. Most typical with a lot of class.

2nd) Finngian’s Reyakosa Diablo, lots to like, very good head and eye, not the topline of the winner standing or moving but well handled and conditioned.

Open (5, 1)

1st) Finnigan’s Reyakosa Brando, most powerful of the entry here, good head and eye, super expression and carries himself well on the move. Excellent hindquarters.

2nd) Hughes’ Barwoods Iago, also a good shape and type, his tail was not so good as the winners on the move and this told against him; but otherwise he has a lot to like and he is most typical.

Border Collie

Puppy (1, 0)

1st) Cooper’s Dysynnis Diamond Bill, 9 months old and is very typical with a lot to like, a good working type and surely capable of doing a days work, could have a little more class for the show ring and too proud of her tail on the day.

Graduate (1, 0)

1st) Cooper’s Storm Tecwyn Over Dysynnis, completely working type which I do not dislike and bearing in mind what the breed was bred for, it is useful to see animals of this type again, as I did when I was younger. Very sound and shapely and reminded me of the Collies I used to admire. Quite different to those shown in the ring generally.

Open (2, 1)

1st) Webb’s Borderbrook Fire and Flame, very good shape and type and a typical Border. I wouldn’t want him any heavier as he would struggle to do an honest days work with any more weight or bone density, but otherwise a very good type and most shapely.

Bearded Collie

Junior (1, 0)

1st) Macdonald’s Corimist All That Glitters, beautiful youngster, so shapely and sound, very good static balance, lots to like and super coat texture; lots to like and a useful prospect.

Graduate (2, 0)

1st) Sapsford’s Breaksea Truly Scrumptious for Shelcrest, also very nice being a good shape and type, goes so well if not the freedom of the winner; but another good one.

Open (3, 1)

1st) Stockwell and Paterson’s Winterlyn Amethyst Reef, I liked this typical bitch for her shape and outline and she carried herself well on the move. A really typical beardie, but she had a touch too much coat and it could have been a better texture.

Samoyed

Graduate (2, 1)

1st) Caornwell’s Jewel Child Of Joy Orleansnow (IMP CZE), 2 year old bitch, super shape and type and a lovely size; lots to like, goes so well and in super nick.

Welsh Corgi (Pembroke)

Graduate (2, 0)

1st) Morris’ Hey You Beautiful, very nice type, wouldn’t want her any heavier because she couldn’t do a days work without tiring, but otherwise most typical and sound; admirable and in super nick.

2nd) Morris’ Reach For The Stars, litter brother to the winner and lots to like here too, not much to separate them and they really are a working type, but his head was not that of hers.

AVNSC Pastoral

Puppy (1, 0)

1st) Thomas’ Chesmes Kutya Magyar Hettie at Mournebrake, 9 month old with a lot to like, clearly needs time and presentation could be better, shapely and sound and goes well.

Graduate (6, 1)

1st) See winner of Puppy.

2nd) Edwards’ Schnaubern Fawaris, close up to the winner, but not quite the body of the winner and could have been a touch more free on the move.

Open (8, 2)

1st) Edwards’ Pajkos Fine N Dandy, lots to like here, goes so well, very admirable and sound and in super condition.

2nd) Gracie’s Mournebrake Pretty Little Angel Eyes at Celebros, very nice type, in super nick and wonderful condition but not the movement of the winner.

AV Imported Breed Register Pastoral

Open (2, 1)

1st) Browns’ Konstrastas Hector The Noble With Tamalden, beautiful shape and type, lots to like, goes so well and is so admirable; in excellent condition and a really useful prospect with bags of potential and quality.

AV Pastoral Veteran (16, 4)

1st) Roberts’ Ch Magical Love Elvikam JW ShCEx OSW (IMP POL), I understand missed the breed class which was disappointing for both judge and owner as this one is a real star. So typical and sound, beautiful head and eye and a most accurate and stylish mover. Just lovely.
