Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit)
Puppy (1, 0)
1st) Watson and Kenna’s Cynetkoy’s Pua, good start to the day and this 6 month old puppy shows a lot of promise. Correct head and eye, good shape and outline & holds herself well on the move. Still raw but sound & free on the move and with confidence should do well.
Junior (3, 0)
1st) Bartley’s Erylan Poseidon De La Mer, just over a year old and the most together in this class on the move, houndy head and eye, good expression, firm front and topline; accurate on the move with a good free and easy action. Presented in a good jacket of the correct texture. RBOB.
2nd) Watson and Kenna’s Cynetkoy’s Hheihei, liter brother to Pua with lots to like. Very much of a piece even at this tender age, liked his head and eye, good static balance & held his shape on the move. Free, easy & very typical when asked to go, and true up and back. BPIB.
3rd) Townsend’s Overbecks Esme Shelby at Roxastan
Post Graduate (1, 0)
1st) Watson and Kenna’s Cynetkoy’s Dizzi Lizzi, not yet two years old, good head and eye, enough angulation in front, firm topline and underline, perhaps not quite so accurate up and back as she could be, but in profile presents a lovely picture & was turned out in super nick and very well handled.
Open (4, 0)
1st) Allenby’s Ch Soletrader Fun Times for Rangali JW, 2.5 years old & stood out here today, clearly of Ch quality and presented a good outline both standing and moving. Liked her head and eye, good balance and strength without losing her femininity, good to go over being in hard muscular condition & clearly a fit hound. In good coat & well handled. BOB.
Saluki
Puppy (2, 0)
1st) Davies’ Zafaraniyeh Daste Margo and 2nd) Davies’ Zafaraniyeh Dashte Kavir; two sisters just 10 months old and so similar in most respects except for their colour! Lots to like about them both, super heads and expressions and really well proportioned; excellent forehands & correct toplines, neat underlines & in such fit muscular condition, they were as impressive as they were classy; I edged Margo ahead of Kavir on her stylish action but there was little between them, and to use a cliché, I am sure they will change places often. Two exciting young ladies.
Junior (2, 0)
1st) Hare’s Caryna Prometheus, coming up two years, upstanding chap full of quality. Lots to like about him, good expression and balance to skull, enough angulation in front & firm enough in topline; neat underline and full of muscle. Carried himself well on the move and used himself all the time. Well presented and handled.
2nd) Hamlton, Hhamilton, Garret and Oakey’s Caryna Oberon, thought this chap might be the winner at first glance as in some ways I preferred his size and proportions, but just wasn’t happy in the venue on the day. There is a lot to like about him, he has lots of quality & is an impressive hound. Will have better days as there is little to fault when he is on the move.
Open (4, 2)
1st) Sanders Parker’s Classicus Felicitas JW, screams quality; R/W parti bred in the purple, no denying her sex nor her Ch quality which is stamped all over her. Excellent head and eye, super forehand and ribbing; firm topline and underline and in smashing muscular condition. Every time I looked at her she was stood just right, and on the move her footfall was perfect. So much to admire here, a treat to judge an animal of such quality. BOB & Hound Group 2.
2nd) Ward’s Caryna Manantena at Backtor, 3 years older than the winner & a handson chap in his prime. Lots to like about this one, good head and eye, very sound on the move and very typical. Choc full of muscle and in great condition. Presented in pristine order, just not quite the zest of youth or outline of the winner. RBOB.
AV Hound Veteran (7, 0)
1st) Allchorne’s Nelgus Cinnamon Spice, lovely basset bitch who belies her years. Really clean head and eye, super expression, excellent front and topline, neat underline & not overdone in any way; carried herself like a dog half her age on the move and simply demanded she won this class. Super quality, I liked her a lot.
2nd) Bartley’s Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal, another who belies his years, this time a PBGV, such a sound moving dog in super condition, correct head and eye, well made throughout & in a super jacket. Very typical on the move and close up to the lovely basset.
AV Imported Breed Register Hound (2, 0)
1st) Stephenson’s Rolenska Faith In You at Bondgate, B/T Coonhound, lovely shape and type, good head and eye, retains strength but not coarse; good to go over, well angulated front and rear and used herself well on the move. Very sound and lots to like.
2nd) Simm’s Stonemartin Anlon at Ezhar (IKC), I really liked this Azawakh but the environment today was not particularly to his liking in some ways; very typical of the breed & really lovely to go over; smartly made and stepped out well. I think I may have made his acquaintance before, liked him a lot and will have better days.
AVNSC Hound
Puppy
1st) Corominas’ Almarxils Diego for Ruichango, smart Mini Wire Dachshund dog with a lot going for him. Very typical to go over and he looked a good size. There is little I would change about him at this age, houndy head and keen expression, well made front and firm topline. On the move he is sound and accurate, and with the benefit of some maturity should have a good career. BAVNSC Puppy & Puppy Group 2.
2nd) Rushforth’s Charterwood Spangled Gold, smart Beagle, liked her head and eye, well balanced & with a good expression. Good to go over and even at this tender age she is advanced in body. Very sound and accurate on the move, holding her stern well.
Junior
1st) Carrington’s Ambertail’s Heels On New Shores at Senjiba (IMP CAN), lovely Basenji dog with a lot to like, I see a Canadian import but out of a Bushwacker bitch; very classy & perfect footfall on the move. Liked his head and expression, good ears & typical alertness, beautifully muscled and conditioned and one with a future. Close up in my mind against the Elkhound.
2nd) Negus’ Tarramist Starlight (AI), very nice S/L Dachshund bitch, caught my eye when she came in and held my attention; really a lot to like here, good head and eye, firm in front & used herself well on the move with her tail carried correctly. Another good one.
Post Graduate
1st) Negus’ Tarramist Platinum Aaria (AI) half sister to second in Jun and I liked this one too, interestingly bred & it looks to have worked, another very nice bitch, holds herself well on the move which is something I love to see; good to go over, correct head and good eyes, firm throughout and really a well made and smart hound.
2nd) Kirk and Williams’ Istani Davidoff The Game, upstanding Afghan dog, good to go over, typical head and eye, firm front and correct topline, neat underline and well boned throughout; lots to admire when he is moving and he was put down in first class order.
Open
Lovely class, any of the first three could easily have won.
1st) Callow & Davis’ Ch Whittimere Alright Bab, Norwegian Elkhound bitch who caught my eye for her breed type and quality; classy & feminine but with strength and looked easily capable of doing a days work. So much to like about her, correct head and eye, good neck and shoulder, firm topline, well set & carried tail and she stand on good legs and feet. In decent coat and super condition, on the move she was near perfect in footfall & won this class despite some strong competition from the two super Basenjis. BAVNSC & Hound Group 3.
2nd) Hardy and Hallan’s Tokaji Kiss Me Kate, super Basenji with everything going for her; close up to the winner & not a lot to change about this one either. Loved her head and eye, classy shape and outline and so accurate on the move. Presented and handled to perfection and must be title bound.
Hound Group
1st) Rogers and Ceriati’s Switherland Mack The Knife, glorious young Basset Hound dog who is still a junior and behaves like it! Caught my eye when he came in and I knew he would be a contender if he performed. Such a promising young dog with all the attributes he needs to take him to the top, super head and expression, clean eye & excellent ears; neat forehand and super ribbing, firm topline and used his stern well all the time. Accurate on the move with super footfall and carriage, and a cockiness all of his own, which added to his appeal. The Saluki chased him all the way home, but on my final look it was almost as though he knew he had to pull out all the stops, HG1 & RBIS.
2nd) Saluki
3rd) Norwegian Elkhound
4th) Halliday and Croxford’s Aarminias French Fancy at Whittimere JW, lovely Whippet & one I judged not yet a year ago. Fulfilling her early promise and clearly continuing on in this vein, she should have a very good career. Free and easy mover with a good action.
Hound Puppy Group
1st) Wilton-Clark’s Shalfleet Oliver Twist, really smart young Whippet who is just six months old. Even at this tender age, he is so self assured and full of himself, boasting so many attributes to take him to the top. Excellent head and eye, neat ears and a super expression. Really admirable type and quality, good to go over, neat lines and so attractive throughout. Sound and free on the move & eyecatching in profile. Liked him a lot.
2nd) Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund.
3rd) Doughty’s Rubiltra Gunna Be Devine, and I think this Rhodesian Ridgeback bitch probably is! Lots to like, upstanding and sound from all angles, good strength to head whilst retaining femininity; excellent forehand and chest, firm topline and neat underline, good ridge & crowns; beautifully accurate on the move. Excellently presented and handled.
4th) Allenby’s Rangali Pixie Stick, bred in the purple being the product of two homebred Champions, this Fauve bitch is fizzy! Another who I admired for her type and quality, completely full of herself on the move which is why she was not higher, but it is nice to see some puppy exuberance. Very sound and accurate on the move and presented in a jacket of correct texture. Very well handled.
