Firstly, I would like to say a huge thankyou to The Royal Cheshire County Show committee for the invitation to judge at your premier open show. It is a prestigious appointment, and I feel honoured to have been invited to judge the whippets. After days of rainy weather I was so pleased that the sun shone for us, it was excellent whippet weather. Many thanks to each and every exhibitor for your entries, and for bringing your lovely dogs along. Many were shown in excellent muscular condition, and this was lovely to see.
Puppy Dog (6,4) 1. Brew’s Crosscop Wanna Go For A Ride With Supeta – 11 month old brindle dog, really liked this boy’s head - masculine with correct proportions. A muscular neck into a well-constructed front and slight spring of pastern - lovely tuck up and rise over the loin. Moderate bone. Excellent tail set and good rear angulation. Well let down hocks. A balanced mover covering ground well. Pleased to award him BPD. 2. Hutchinson’s Zenobia Just An Illusion At Sweetaurora – 7 month old brindle dog, another curvy boy with a shapely outline. Skull flat with correct eye and ear set, beautiful elegant and muscular neck into well laid shoulder and correct front angulation. Moderate bone with correct depth of chest and tuck up for his age. Gentle rise over the loin into excellent tail set. Well let down hocks. Just preferred the rear angulation of 1 in this class. 3. Rodger’s Wentvalley Pied Piper
Junior Dog (3,3) 1. Jones’ Jothyrn Johnny Be Good – 12 month old brindle boy, really liked this boys sweet expression. Masculine head without being heavy, with a correct oval eye and excellent eye set. Back skull and muzzle in correct proportion, with correct ear set. Lovely long muscular neck, into well laid shoulders and good front angulation. Correct amount of bone with slight spring of pastern. Lovely sweeping underline and rise over the loin. Loin strong and powerful into an excellent tail set, and tail held in a low delicate curve. Good rear angulation with plenty of first and second thigh and well let down hocks. Shown in hard, muscular condition. Moved with drive and purpose – driving forwards from his rear. A balanced mover covering ground with ease. Pleased to award him BD and RBOB. 2. Robert’s Silkridge Atomic To Hampdach – 12 month old brindle boy, this boy has a lovely head, excellent back skull to muzzle proportion with slight stop, and a correct oval eye and eye set. Long neck flowing into a lovely wide-angled front. Moderate bone and excellent spring of pastern. Good depth of brisket with a strong and powerful loin. Broad across the rear with well-developed first and second thigh. Just preferred the profile movement of one. 3. Hambling’s Chaseover Tom Collins
Post Graduate Dog (5,5) 1. Webber’s Lolani Ride A Wild Trail JW – 2 year old brindle boy, shown in excellent muscular condition. Masculine head, with correct proportions – good underjaw. Muscular neck into excellent front construction, with moderate bone and excellent spring of pastern. Sweeping shapely underline and topline, with good spring of rib and a powerful muscular loin. Broad across the rear, with well-developed first and second thigh. Well let down hocks and well-knuckled oval feet. Moved out well with true daisy cutting action. 2. Searle and Rawlinson’s Reffton Tibalt At Whipsearle JW (Imp Esp) – 2 year old fawn boy, built on a finer frame than 1 and in excellent condition. Lovely head with correct proportions and excellent ear set. Skull flat on top, with slight stop to muzzle. Good underjaw. Long, elegant neck into well-laid shoulder and a good front. Lovely shapely underline and topline into a long muscular loin. Excellent rear angulation with correct tail set, turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved out well, just preferred the front of one. 3. Ellam’s Pagarni’s Kiss Me Red
Limit Dog (2,1) Hill’s Abbeycorner Mercury – 23 month old curvy fawn boy, masculine head with equal length of muzzle to back skull and excellent underjaw. Very good for size. Long, muscular neck into well laid shoulder and good front. Moderate bone and slight spring of pastern. Excellent depth of chest, good tuck up and topline. Broad across the thighs, with well-developed first and second thigh. Just needs to settle a little on the move.
Open Dog (4,3) Brew’s Crosscop The Show Must Go On – 3 year old fawn boy, masculine head with flat skull and excellent equal muzzle to back skull. Correct eye and ear set with excellent underjaw. Fine rose-shaped ears. Beautiful, long muscular neck into well-laid shoulder and good front construction. Moderate for bone with a slight spring of pastern – well knuckled oval feet. Deep brisket with sweeping underline and slight rise over the loin. Strong, powerful loin into very good rear angulation. Well developed first and second thigh, with good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Excellent tail set. Moved around the ring with purpose, driving from the rear. True for and aft. Pleased to award him RBD. 2. Webber’s Denimblue Wildo JW – 3 year old blue male, in excellent muscular condition and on a larger frame than 1. Masculine head that is well proportioned and strong underjaw. Long, muscular neck into well-laid shoulder and excellent front angulation. Excellent depth of chest, with a curvy underline and very good tuck up. Slight rise over his powerful loin. Broad across the thighs, with well-developed first and second thigh. Well let down hocks. Moved out well, just preferred the overall shape of one. 3. Jones’ Shalfleet News Flash At Pennybeck
Puppy Bitch (6,3) Cooper’s Crosscop Im Alwayz Yours At Ballauren – 10 month old fawn shown in excellent condition, so much to like about this promising youngster. Beautiful feminine head, with plenty of underjaw, oval eye with correct eye set, flat skull with slight stop and equal length of muzzle to back skull . Small rose-shaped ear with correct ear set. Long, elegant and muscular neck into excellent front construction. Good layback of shoulder and length and return of upper arm. Moderate bone and slight spring of pastern. Good depth of brisket for her age, with sufficient spring of rib and length of ribcage. Shapely tuck up with slight rise over the loin, held beautifully on the move. Excellent rear angulation, plenty of first and second thigh and well let down hocks. She floated gracefully around the ring with her young handler, a true team. Balanced, with excellent reach and drive and a true daisy-cutting action when viewed in profile. True fore and aft. Delighted to award her BPB and BP. 2. Salkeld and Graham’s Dalerafenn Follow A Dream – 11 month old fawn bitch, very feminine with a sweet expression. Equal length of muzzle to back skull and correct oval eye and eye set. Small, fine rose-shaped ears. Strong underjaw. Elegant long neck into a well laid back shoulder and very good front construction. Moderate bone and slight spring of pastern. Good depth of chest for her age with a slight rise over her strong loin. Correct rear angulation, with plenty of first and second thigh and well let down hocks. Another shown in excellent condition. Very balanced on the move, with plenty of reach and drive. Unlucky to meet one today. 3. Cannon’s Pursenet Painted Lady
Junior Bitch (4,2) Jones’ Jothryn Manhattan Blonde – 12 month old brindle bitch, Feminine head, skull flat on top with equal length of muzzle to back skull, slight stop. Correct oval eye and eye set, with excellent fine rose-shaped ear and ear set. Long and muscular neck into a well laid back shoulder, and good length and return of upper arm. Moderate bone and slight spring of pastern. Plenty of depth of brisket, with good spring of rib. Shapely underline, with correct topline and good tuck up. Strong and powerful loin, another shown in muscular condition. Good rear angulation with excellent tail set and well let down hocks. True for and aft. Moved with propulsion from the rear and with drive and purpose - a very easy mover. 2. Salkeld and Graham’s Dalerafenn Follow A Dream.
Post Graduate Bitch (13,3) Wilkinson’s Silkridge Saffron Of Fletchgate - 3 year old brindle and white bitch. A super curvy bitch with a lovely head and a true whippet outline. Excellent small, fine rose-shaped ears with a strong underjaw. A long, muscular neck flowing into correct layback of shoulder and length and return of upper arm. Moderate bladed bone with slight spring of pastern and good feet. She has such a curvy underline and topline, with excellent spring of rib. Good rear angulation, with muscular well developed first and second thigh and excellent tail set. Her straight rear pasterns and correct angulation made her so true fore and aft. Balanced, moving with reach and drive and covering plenty of ground. Delighted to award her RBB. 2. Halliday and Croxford’s Aarminias French Fancy At Whittimere – 22 month old black bitch, excellent for size with a sweet expression. Correctly proportioned head, skull flat on top with slight stop and equal length of muzzle to back skull. Excellent underjaw and small fine rose-shaped ears, with the best ear set of the day. Elegant and long muscular neck, into a well laid back shoulder and good front construction. Moderate bone and slight spring of pastern. Excellent oval well-knuckled feet. Good depth of brisket, with plenty of spring of rib and length of ribcage. Lovely sweeping underline into a good tuck up, and slight rise over the loin. Good rear angulation, broad across the thighs with an excellent tail set. Well let down hocks, another with excellent feet. Moved true for and aft. Just preferred the reach of one on the day. 3. Nixon’s Afterglow Whirlwind
Limit Bitch (7,3) Royle’s Sandeast Its My Moment – 20 month old fawn parti bitch. Feminine head, with a melting expression. Flat skull, with correct oval eye and strong underjaw. Excellent rose-shaped ears. Elegant and muscular neck leading into a well-laid shoulder, and good length and return of upper arm. Moderate for bone with correct spring of pastern. Very shapely, with a good depth of brisket, tuck up and a flowing topline. Powerful loin, with good rear angulation. Excellent tail set with well let down hocks, oval well-knuckled feet. Moved well. 2. Cooper’s Sylleka Shantay You Stay At Ballauren, 2 year old fawn parti bitch, well proportioned head, with correct oval eye and eye set. Strong underjaw and good ear set. Muscular neck, leading into good front construction and slight spring of pastern. Excellent depth of chest, with a sweeping underline and definite tuck up. Good spring of rib leading into a strong loin, and good rear angulation. Broad across the thighs, with well developed first and second thigh. Well let down hocks. Moved out well, with reach and drive. Just preferred the overall shape of one. 3. Riding-Smith’s Cobyco Cream Sundae
Open Bitch (2,2) Sampson’s Dapperdiva Milk And Honey JW – 2 year old fawn bitch who is super for size, so feminine and has a melting but alert expression. A pretty head, with equal length of muzzle to back skull, slight stop and a strong underjaw. Beautiful, fine rose-shaped delicate ears with excellent set. Elegant, muscular neck with an elegant arch flows into a well laid back shoulder with good length and return of upper arm. Elbow lays directly underneath the shoulder. Moderate bone, slight spring of pastern and excellent oval feet. Excellent depth of brisket, with a good spring of rib and correct length of ribcage. With a well-muscled back, her loin is powerful and strong, and of correct length. A gentle rise over the loin compliments her excellent tuck up. Broad across the thighs, with excellent rear angulation and plenty of first and second thigh. Excellent tail set, with her tail held in a low delicate curve. Well arched, oval feet. Shown in fine, close coat and superb muscular condition. Held her topline beautifully on the move, flowing around the ring with grace and elegance. True for and aft and balanced in profile, moving with reach and drive yet maintaining her topline at all times. Very pleased to award her BB and BOB. 2. Wilkinson’s Citycroft Starfall - 6 year old fawn bitch. She has a lovely head, with equal length of muzzle to backstop and skull flat on top. A strong underjaw with perfect eye set and oval in shape, with good ear set. Long, muscular neck flows into a well laid back shoulder, and correct length and return of upper arm. Moderate bladed bone with slight spring of pastern and tight, oval feet. Correct spring of rib, length of ribcage and good depth of brisket with a sweeping underline and excellent tuck up. A strong powerful loin, and excellent rear angulation. She is broad across her powerful muscular rear, with well developed first and second thigh and a good turn of stifle Well let down hocks and straight rear pasterns. Excellent tail set and length. True fore and aft. Balanced, and moves with a correct daisy cutting action - coupled with drive and propulsion from her muscular rear. Covers ground well. Unlucky to meet one today.
