Banbury & District Canine Association

The Banbury and District Canine Association Open Show Monday 6 May 2024 Retriever Curly Coated I was delighted to be invited to judge at this show and offer my sincere thanks to the committee for their invitation. Also I must thank all competitors for bringing forward such a good quality entry and for supporting this lovely show on a busy Bank Holiday Monday. Class 38 Junior (2) 1st Kahawei Catch the Stars Over Stormacre A good sized 13 month old black bitch in excellent coat. Nice wedge-shaped head with a kind and correct dark eye and well set ears, giving her an excellent profile in both planes. She has a strong shoulder, level topline and good spring of rib with a well set tail and moderate hind angulation. Lots of bone for her age and excellent feet. She moved very easily, covering the ground and carrying herself with confidence. I think she has a great future ahead of her in the showring. Reserve Best of Breed. 2nd Milky Way Soul Isreal for Stormacre (Imp Est) I really liked this young dog (9 months), especially the delight he took in all the attention in the show ring. He has very good overall frame and proportions with some growing to do but all the same presented a balanced overall picture, a super coat and very correct head. He was a little distracted today both standing and on the move but when settled he shows real quality. Best Puppy in Breed. Class 39 Post Graduate (6, 2Abs) 1st Kahawei Sea the Stars A very well-developed and imposing liver dog of just over 13 months. Masculine, wedge-shaped head, correct ear set with a super front end. Well laid back shoulders, muscular body and strong hindquarters which he used to great effect on the move. Good, tightly curled dark liver coat. He has a commanding presence in the ring and was also my Best of Breed. 2nd Foxriever Storm Cloud 20 month old black dog with a beautiful masculine head and expression. Gorgeous dark, eye and set of ears. Super angulation in front and behind, strong topline and loin with correct tail set. Good coat coverage although he may benefit from a trim to better show off his outline. He carries himself well and presents a very pleasing overall picture. This was a very difficult decision but he didn’t quite have the powerful muscular development of 1st. Class 40 Open (2, 1Abs) 1st Tessmene Top Notch By Kagemusha A 4 year old black dog with a very correct and masculine head set on a strong neck and powerful, well laid back shoulders. Deep chest with well-sprung ribs and strong loin. Another excellent quality coat and good tight feet. Today I suspect that he hadn’t had time to settle and didn’t much like the small ring, I think he is a dog that would like a larger space to properly show his movement but nonetheless he definitely deserved his first place.
