Coalville & District Canine Society

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge the Hound Group, there was not many breeds scheduled so was a small group to choose from but I was happy with my placings. I awarded Hound Group 1 to the PBGV Ch Soletrader Fun Times For Rangali JW, Hound Group 2 to the Norwegian Elkhound Ch Whittimere Alright Bab JW, Hound Group 3 went to the Beagle Morsefield Mudlark Sh CEx and the Whippet Group 4 Silkridge In A Moment at Mazargo Sh CEx. I judged all these dogs so a critique is included below.

For the Hound Puppy Group I could not walk past the BFDB Rangali Pixie Stick, Puppy Group 2 went to the Rhodesian Ridgeback Barnes Diamondridge Dreadnought who I also really liked, he is so promising and currently has everything where it needs to be, I cant wait to follow both of these Puppy’s Careers. Puppy Group 3 went to the Min Smooth Haired Dachs Herald Winterfield Lucky Star and Puppy Group 4 to the Min Wired Haired Dach Rose Barratini Song and Dance with Rosencrantz.

Norwegian Elkhound Open (4)

1. Callow & Davis Ch Whittimere Alright Bab JW, I have judged this bitch previously and have done well for her in the past, she presents a lovely shape on the stack, good head with dark oval eye, small ears set on high with vertical outer edge, balanced angulation front and rear, tail set on high, moved with an effortless stride which is hard within such a small ring. BOB.

2. Simms Ch Seasara Earl Grey, a quality male, masculine all through, wedge shaped head with dark oval eye, correctly shaped ears set on high, balanced all through, moved with an effortless stride. RBOB

Whippet

Puppy (1)

1. Earnshaw Palmik I Know What I Like At Moonshadow, brindle male 8 months old, needs to collect himself more but hes a puppy and this will come. He is promising, has a lovely head and eye, presented a nice shape on the stack, just needs time. BPIB

Junior (1)

1. Higginbottom Ranveli Royal Touch, fawn bitch, 13 months, feminine all through, long and lean with a slight stop, oval eyes, scissor bite, rose shaped ears, moderate length of neck into well laid shoulder, forelegs straight with moderate bladed bone, arch over the loin, long tail, balanced angulation, showed freedom of movement.

Graduate (2)

1. Higginbottom Ranveli Royal Duke of Dawnsafon, fawn male, litter brother to the junior winner and very similar in shape. Presented a nice shape on the stack, good head with dark oval eye, scissor bite, good length of neck into shoulder, definite tuck up with graceful arch to loin, well developed second thigh, moved true

2. Ryan Sylleka Firebird at Riocife, good head, tended to fly her ears on the stack, scissor bite, good length of neck into shoulder, forearms straight with bladed bone, arch over the loin with definite tuck up, moved true.

Post Graduate (3,1 abs)

2. Bonson-Hadfield Bronchinbella A Wee Dram At Helgen, good head which tapers towards the muzzle, dark oval eye, good length of neck into shoulder, definite tuck up, well developed second thigh.

Open (4, 2 abs)

1. Blake Silkridge In A Moment at Mazargo Sh CEx brindle bitch who I have done well for in the past, all comments apply but she certainly has matured in body since I first judged her in 2022, beautiful feminine head, long and lean, tapering to the muzzle, oval eyes, scissor bite, small rose shaped ears, good length of neck elegantly arched into well laid shoulder, good forechest, forearms straight with bladed bone, pasterns with slight spring, chest deep, arch over the loin with definite tuck up, well developed second thigh, moved true with free action. BOB.

1. Bridgeman-Lewis & Wilton Clark Shalfleet Making Waves, a nice brindle male with a good head and dark oval eye, scissor bite, small rose shaped ears, good length of neck into shoulder, balanced angulation, deep chest with fill, forelegs straight with slight spring to pasterns, required S curves, well developed second thigh, moved true showing freedom of action. RBOB.

Beagle

Post Graduate (3,1 abs)

1. Langman Madika High Flyer At Bonwillan, nice bitch with a head and dark eye, low set long ears, scissor bite, long neck into shoulder, balanced angulation, good substance, level topline, tail set on high, sound on the move with a free action. RBOB

2. Bonser Jalhar Star Rider, masculine male who was abit unruly but that was because his handler had hurt her shoulder. I tried to go over him on the stack on the floor but this was difficult as he wouldn’t really stand so I cant give him a full critique due to this. He did settle down for the open class and I could see abit more. He had low set ears, moderate length of neck into shoulder, rounded bone, level topline and a deep chest.

Open (3)

1. Caple Morsefield Mudlark Sh CEx, masculine male, he has a good head and eye, low set ears, good length of neck into shoulder, good front and rear angulation, good depth of chest, round in bone, level topline, stifles well bent, tight feet, moved with reach and drive. BOB

2. Keepence & Keyte Redcap Northern Lights Over Alandobel, feminine bitch who is a little showgirl, defined stop, scissor bite, dark eye, low set ears, good length of neck into shoulder, forelegs straight, topline level, balanced angulation, feet tight, tail set on high, would just prefer a bit more length to leg.

3. Bonser Jalhar Star Rider

AVNSC

Puppy (2)

1. Allenby Rangali Pixie Stick, BFDB, the handler put this puppy on the table and am like, she is just beautiful, there is so much promise from this 6 month bitch who I think was at her first show. She has a beautiful head with a black nose, ears set on level with the eyes, scissor bite, lovely balance to her, good body proportions, tail set on high, correct coat, a little showgirl on the move striding out well. BP.

2. Noble Blevwil Swing Ride, BFDB, 8 month male very up on leg, needs more maturity on him which will hopefully come but had a nice head and eye, moderate length to neck, level topline, enjoyed himself on the move.

Junior (2)

1. Pearson Armardio Candle In the Wind, Basset Hound, I liked this girls shape on the stack, she has considerable substance and balanced all through, domed head with some stop and occipital bone prominent, dark eye, low set ears, scissor bite, fairly long neck into shoulder, forelegs short, prominent breastbone, ribs well rounded, she has adequate ground clearance with effortless movement.
