Wealdstone & Northolt Canine Society

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your Premiere Summer Show. This was the first year it had been held at the Bournemouth show ground, and it was a huge success. Many thanks to my very capable steward, Emma, who worked like a trouper keeping the ring tick over. I had a super entry across all of my hound breeds, with plenty of quality dogs to choose from. Thank you to the exhibitors for accepting my decisions with good grace.

1st Gunn, Mr R J & Miss C Katanga’s God of Thunder JW Nicely presented 2-year-old black and tan male. Classic, masculine head held proudly, with the darkest of eyes that just look right through you, punishing jaws and a majestic mandarin beard. Long and strong in neck flowing into a decent front with good depth of brisket and infill. His back is level with a natural saddle and prominent pin bones. Shown in hard condition, he moved smoothly in all directions with his ringed tail raised in action. BOB

1st Stratton, Mrs J W Justartee This Is Me Eye-catching, feminine 7-month-old red and white. I loved her beautifully wrinkled head with dark, obliquely set almond eyes and alert, well-hooded ears. Her elegantly arched neck flows into a good front, with just the right amount of infill for age. She is level in topline, with a shapely underline and good set on and curl of tail. Moderate in rear angulation, she moved with a light and free flowing action. At present she is just a tad loose coming towards, but I’m sure she will firm up with age. This young lady should have a bright future. RBOB & BP, HPG4

1st Stratton, Mrs J W Aheme Cinnamon Swirl For Justartee Well-grown 3-year-old red and white who was a little distracted today. Feminine head, with lovely chiselling and wrinkle, and dark expressive eyes. Neck of good length into a decent front assembly, she has depth to her chest and pleasing tuck up. Level in topline with a short, muscular loin, though I would prefer a better set on and curl of tail. When she composed herself, she looked nice in profile.

1st Gray, Mr S & Mrs S J Ch Jisgard Daydream Believer I loved this top-notch 11 ½ year-old bitch who just oozes breed type. Such a quality tri, with a super balanced outline giving a gazelle-like grace. She has an exquisite head piece with dark almond eyes, short muzzle and correct dentition. Her strong, gracefully arched neck is set into well laid shoulders. She is level in topline with high set, tightly curled tail. Shown in tip-top condition, it is hard to believe her age. What a credit she is to her owners! She floated around the ring with a long, swinging stride and accurate footfall. BOB & BVIS

1st Scarlett, Mrs N Vanitonia Enchanted Over Michelroy Aptly named, there is much to appreciate on this enchanting 10-month-old tri colour bitch. She is nicely grown, and both clean and compact in outline. I loved her head, which was beautifully domed with the darkest of eyes and well-set leathers. She is balanced in angulation fore and aft and stands on super bone with neat, well-knuckled feet. Her movement was accurate for such a young girl. Her owner should have some fun with her! 1st Woodhouse, Ms S Fallowfield Rhett With Birybarn 16-month-old tri boy who is attractively constructed. Masculine, typey head with strength to muzzle, correct dentition and well-flewed lips. I liked his beautifully crested neck that fits smoothly into a good front assembly, with super depth and infill of forechest. Level in topline, his stern is set on and carried correctly. He scored highly with his strong rear, which had width to his second thigh and firm, well-let down hocks. Pleasing side gait, this boy is in great condition. RBOB

1st Scarlett Mrs N Rossut Vestry With Michelroy JW Powerful 2-year-old tri bitch, looking slightly longer cast than ideal. Soft, feminine head with dark eyes and pigmentation, and with ears fine and long. She is balanced both front and rear, with a good depth of chest and firm in topline. Standing on quality round bone and neat feet, she moved out soundly and freely, with her tail carried correctly.

2nd Woodhouse, Ms S Serenaker Bergerac Avec Birybarn PDH Smart, almost 4-year-old tri male. Lovely outline on this boy who is good for size. He has a masculine, well-balanced skull with lovely fine leathers which frame his head. Good reach of neck into a well-laid shoulder. He is well off for bone with firm elbows and short pasterns. On the move used his nicely muscled rear to his advantage.

1st Broad, Mrs S A Bronia Wolfgang Puck Nicely proportioned 2 ½ -year-old red male with a lovely masculine head, dark eyes and pigmentation. Strong and clean in neck, I liked his front construction, standing with his upper arms close to his ribs and neat, tidy feet. Shown in lovely coat, he moved out smartly, maintaining his topline with the correct amount of ground clearance. It was a shame he was a fidget in the challenge. RBOB

2nd Havill, Mr C Raven Baloo Almost 2-year-old black and tan male, at his first show which he seem to be enjoying. Appealing in head, with strength to his muzzle and correct dentition. He has good length of neck into a fair front, and is level in topline although slightly long in loin. I found him to be a little soft in condition today, which can easily be addressed. His coat was gleaming in the sunlight.

1st Broad, Mrs S A Eldmour Sea Lord of Dinkidudlor Eye-catching 8-year-old clear red male who impressed me on the stack. Quality head piece with strength and masculinity. He has a good length of neck into a lovely front, with prominent breastbone and forelegs placed correctly. To be picky I would prefer a better arch to his feet. His ribs extend well back and he has a strong, broad loin. Movement was free and flowing, sound in all directions. Shown in a soft, sleek coat. BOB

1st Rycroft, Mrs S J Chidax Sahara Sand By Trisensara Pretty 8-month-old shaded red bitch with a lovely clean outline. Long, tapering head appearing conical from above, with strong jaws and correct scissor bite. Attractive, arched neck into a good front assembly, with forelegs placed correctly and neat well-arched feet. Level in topline, her rear is balanced and developing nicely. She moved out well using her strong hocks, just slightly close in rear at present. RBOB & BP

2nd Rycroft, Mrs S J Carpaccio Queen Consult for Trisensara 15-month-old black and tan bitch shown in gleaming coat. I liked her feminine head, with dark almond eyes and correct ear carriage. Good length of neck into a decent front assembly with prominent breastbone. Her ribs extend well back with good length of sternum. Just enough ground clearance on this youngster. Pleasing in profile movement, she just needs to firm up in rear.

1st Rycroft, Mrs S J Fantastic Frank At Trisensara JW 2-year-old strongly made red male. I like his head that had correct planes to skull, with dark almond eyes and pigmentation. Decent front assembly with good length of ribbing and broad loin. He tended to stand uneven in front which ruined his outline. Strong in rear, he moved purposely around the ring. Nicely handled by his young charge.

1st Rycroft, Mrs S J Jacksondax Hornet Hurrah At Trisensara JW I really liked this 2 ½ - year-old black and tan male of super type - he had bone and substance without being course. Lovely, clean neck into well laid shoulders, prominent breastbone, his legs placed exactly where they should be. His back is broad and nicely ribbed, with a strong, short loin. His rear is well-muscled with a lovely full rump and strong hocks. Correct length to height ratio. Moved well. BOB

1st Wilkinson & Wakeham, Miss C & Mr A Bronia Donatello For Wakywilks Nicely proportioned 10-month-old black and tan male. I thought he looked a picture on the stack. Masculine in head, though to be picky would like a little more length to his muzzle. His neck is clean and muscular, which fits smoothly into a decent front assembly, elbows close in and neat, nicely padded feet. Broad back and level in topline. A steady mover around the ring.

2nd Linehan, Mr N Lady Delight of Cork 10-month-old Black and Tan bitch shown in gleaming coat. She has a pretty head with lovely dark almond eyes, ears set well, though slightly large. She is pleasing in neck, her chest is deep allowing for plenty of heart and lung room, and she has good ground clearance. Broad rear quarters, she is just a tad long in second thigh with made her look overstretched on the stack.

1st Forge, Mrs I Normpug Roman Holiday Attractive, eye catching 14-month-old black and tan male, I was impressed with his construction and outline. Typical in head shape and carriage, his neck is clean and elegantly arched into a nicely made front. His back is long and muscular, with his underline moderately tucked up. Balanced in rear angulations, lovely free movement in all directions. I considered him for top honours. He should have a bright show career.

2nd Wilkinson & Wakeham, Miss C & Mr A Wakywilks Celestial At just 6-months-old, this black and tan bitch is pretty as a picture. So much to like on this puppy! Her head is balanced with the darkest of eyes, and strong muzzle. She has a good length of neck into a well laid shoulder with correct return of upper arm. She is level in topline, and her ribs extend well back. At the moment she just needs to firm up in her rear movement, then I’m sure she will have a bright future. BP

1st Strange, Mrs C & Mr P Bronia’s Armand At Cazdachs Handsome 19-month-old Red male, with good body proportions. Masculine head, with dark eye and pigmentation and super ears. He has a good length of neck into well-laid shoulders, with a long and sloping upper arm. His ribs are nicely sprung and extend well back, with a short loin. I liked his rear which was full and broad. On the move he maintained his topline, accurate with his footfall. RBOB

2nd Wilkinson & Wakeham, Bronia Bijoux For Wakywilks 10-month-old shaded red bitch. I liked her outline, and she holds herself well on the stack. Pretty head which she carried defiantly on a strong, clean neck. She is balanced in angulations front and rear, with the right amount of leg and ground clearance. A free and easy mover.

1st Strange, Mrs C & Mr P Stargang Magic Alfie Moon at Cazdachs Striking 5-year-old shaded red male. Nicely proportioned masculine head, with dark almond eyes, and strength to underjaw. Strong, clean neck which gracefully flows into a nicely made front assembly, his breastbone is prominent and has that desired oval shape. Plenty of ground clearance under this boy, with his broad well-ribbed back and muscular loin. His rear is broad and strong with parallel hocks. He moved with long strides, keeping his outline in profile. BOB

2nd Bullis, Mrs A J Amaffrey Henry 22-month-old black and tan male, with a super outline and shape; shown in gleaming coat. Typical head with the darkest of eyes and ears of good length. His clean, arched neck fits nicely into a super front with a prominent breastbone and upper arms close to his ribs. Firm and level in topline, with ribs extending well back and full, broad rear. Eye catching profile movement.

1st Rowe, Mrs J & Miss R Boloria Goodnight Mr Tom What a well made, shapely 9-month-old wild boar! This young male is super confident and was beautifully presented. I loved his masculine head which was nicely balanced and enhanced with his lovely furnishings. His clean, muscular neck flows into a well constructed front, with correct return of upper arm and the right amount of ground clearance. On the move he maintained his topline, using his lovely broad rear to drive around the ring. This youngster set the bar high, I’m sure he will have a bright future. RBOB, BP & HPG3

1st Howlett & Phillips, Miss R & Mrs V Tendrow Malibar JW Impressive 17-month-old wild boar male. Wow, this boy ticked all the boxes – he has some attitude and then some more! He owned the ring today, what a total show man. Attractive, masculine head of equal planes with dark almond shaped eyes and correct set on of ears. His beautifully arched neck flows smoothly into a superb front assembly, with prominent breastbone giving that desired oval front. He is sound in body with a level topline and short, strong loin. This boy just stands himself perfectly. Shown in super harsh coat and condition, he powered around the ring using his strong, broad rear quarters to full advantage. A top draw youngster. BOB & HG1

1st Graham, Mrs J A & Mr A Boloria Wild Spice JW Impressive, 2-year-old wild boar bitch with lots to admire. Shown in lovely harsh jacket, this girl is soundly constructed with an attractive, breed-typical feminine head. She has a lovely front with good length of upper arm, and neat, well-padded feet. Level in topline both on the stack and on the move, with good length of ribbing and short, muscular loin. Lovely profile movement, using her well-muscled rear and strong hocks.

1st Akehurst, Mrs C Boloria All Spice Almost 4-year-old wild boar male. I loved the head on this boy, with lovely dark eyes and plenty of furnishings. He had a good length of neck into a decent front assembly, but at times he tended to stand uneven in front. He was compact in body with the desired amount of ground clearance. For me, this boy would look better carrying a little more weight. Nicely presented, he looked lovely in profile.

Pretty, feminine head, with dark eyes and pigmentation, strength to jaws and correct scissor bite. I liked her front, with upper arm and shoulders of equal length, good ground clearance and neat feet. On the move she held her topline, using her nicely muscled rear. A promising puppy. BP

Her neck is strong into a well-laid front assembly, with good length of ribbing and a short muscular loin. I liked her rear which is well built with the correct turn of stifle. She looked lovely in profile. RBOB

2nd Kilroy, Mrs J Do Smarties At Janacop 11-month-old wild boar bitch, still very much a baby. She is good for size and well grown. Nicely balanced through skull and foreface, dark well set eyes giving a kind expression. Clean neck into a decent front with elbows closely fitted and neat feet. Correct length of ribbing, she just needs to settle in topline.

1st Kilroy, Mrs J Blackvein Rambler At Janacop JW Top draw, quality 2-year-old wild boar bitch. This girl certainly moves with such presence and attitude! I liked her length of body to height ratio and perfect ground clearance. She has a super, well-proportioned head, with dark almond shaped eyes, and lovely furnishings. Her strong, clean neck flows into a good shoulder placement, with good depth of brisket giving the desired oval appearance. Her topline is firm and level, she has width to her pelvis and correct tail set and carriage. She moved correctly fore and aft, with a free and flowing side gait. BOB

1st Sandells & Lovell, Miss L & Mr J Packway Blue Moon Tall, unexaggerated 18-month-old male who presented a curvy outline on the stack. I have judged this boy before and he is filling out nicely into his large frame. I loved his typey, masculine head, with the darkest of eyes and perfectly rosed ears. His long, strong neck fits smoothly into a correct lay of shoulders, with straight long forelegs and broad, flat bone. He is deep in chest with a nice length of ribbing and a strong, well-arched loin. Balanced and muscular in rear, he moved with a long and effortless stride, just a little close in rear. BOB

1st Wilkinson, Mrs S Rainster Eilex Among Hunacres 2-year-old light brindle bitch. Balanced, feminine head with lovely kind eyes and dark pigmentation, she has strength to her under jaw and correct dentition. Her strong, arched neck flows into a clean front assembly, with width and depth to her forechest. She stands naturally with her elbows directly under her withers; forelegs straight with good spring to pasterns and large, well-knuckled feet. Her rear quarters are broad with width to second thigh and low set hocks. Shown in super weight and condition, she moved around the ring in an easy and active style coping well in the heat. Her pretty, feminine wedge-shaped head, has the darkest of eyes and high set ears. Strong in neck with a well-made front assembly, she stands on quality bone with elbows closely in. Short, level back with curled tail set on well. Moved with a steady, free action. Quality coat and colour, a promising puppy. BOB & BP

Decent length of neck into a fair front assembly, her back is broad with a strong, short loin. Standing on neat, compact feet, she moved positively around the ring when she got herself together. 1st Thomas, Mr D & Mrs M Sincerity Kalimantan Cashar (Imp Fin) Handsome13-month-old black grizzle male, who is nicely balanced throughout. Attractive head both in shape and proportions with dark eyes and pigmentation. Reachy neck into a well-made front assembly, with straight forelegs, slightly sloping pasterns and correct feet. His back is well-ribbed, with good depth of chest and neat tuck up. He looked a picture on the move with his light, effortless movement. Just losing out on maturity. He should have a bright future.

2nd Thomas, Mr D & Mrs M Mumtaz Aramis Rising 3-year-old male fawn with Irish markings. Lean and balanced in head, his ears are set correctly with long silky hair. He has a good length of neck into fair shoulder placement, with the right amount of infill. His brisket has depth and length, with ribs well back and broad loin. Moderate in rear with strong hocks, he moved with a pleasing side gait, just slightly wide in front. Nicely handled.

1st Chippendale, Ms O Flytesfield Hyddwn Elegant and refined 2 ½-year-old black fringed red. He caught my eye when he came into the ring, and when stacked he really looked the part. Nothing is overdone on this young male. Masculine, breed typical head, with the darkest of oval eyes and strength to under jaw. Long, strong neck flows smoothly into a good front assembly with correct return of upper arm. His back is well ribbed with a sweeping underline and gentle arch over his loin. Shown in gleaming coat and super condition. His movement was true in all directions. BOB

2nd Chippendale, Ms O Int/Lux/ Bel Ch Imhotep Rears Natural Jasmine (Imp BEL) Stylish, 5-year-old cream in his prime. Lovely, long head with typical expression, correct dentition though would prefer more strength to his under jaw. Balanced angulations front and rear. He has good depth of chest with ribs well back, his back is broad with a strong, muscular loin. Shown in top notch condition, his movement was sound although he was lacking enthusiasm. With a change of handler in the challenge he perked up just enough to win RBOB.
