Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this well run Premiere Open Show. Your new venue is wonderful, and the spacious rings enabled the hounds to really get into their stride.
My stewards Cliff and Roy worked really hard to keep the ring ticking over, thank you both! I was most grateful for the opportunity to judge so many wonderful hounds and thank you for your sportsmanship in taking my decisions with good grace.
My only gripe was there were a couple of hounds with very dirty teeth; we owe it to them to keep them healthy.
BEAGLE
PUPPY 4
1st Banks, Mrs P J & Miss D V Forgebanks Shantung 10-month-old tri-colour bitch. Well grown and presented. Beautifully shaped head, with lovely dark eyes and pigmentation, leathers of correct length and set on low. She has a good reach of neck that fits smoothly into a well-made front assembly, with chest below elbows, ample spring of rib and short muscular loin. Developing nicely in rear quarters with strong, low set hocks. Free and sound movement around the ring. A promising youngster. RBOB & BP
2nd Hardisty, Ms S Blunderhall Flirty Gertie At just 6-months-old, this tri-colour bitch caught my eye when she came in to the ring. She is very much a baby but is full of quality and promise. I loved her pretty, domed head, with a super expression and long, fine leathers. Her lovely length of neck flows into a well-constructed front assembly, with good depth of chest and firm elbows. Shapely rear quarters with parallel hocks and neat, well knuckled feet. Such a confident puppy, just a little loose in movement at present but I am sure she will firm up as she matures.

1ST Hardisty, Ms S Blunderhall Jacks the Lad JW 15-month-old tri-colour dog, a well-constructed typey male, I liked his size and proportions. Super masculine head, with clean lines and alert expression. Beautiful, crested neck leading to a good front assembly, super infill of fore chest with ribs well sprung and firm muscular loin. Correct underline and level top line, his stern is set on high and carried correctly. Nicely let down firm hind quarters with strong, parallel hocks. Shown in lovely condition, with coat short and dense. Moved true coming and going, never putting a foot wrong. I see he is the sire to 2nd in puppy, passing on his obvious qualities. BOB
2nd Banks, Mrs P J & Miss D V Forgebanks Santiano
10-month-old tan and white male, litter mate to 1st in puppy. Well-grown and sturdy in outline. Attractive head of the correct proportions, with lovely dark eyes and pigmentation. Strong, well-muscled neck fits smoothly into a good lay of shoulder, with width to front, quality bone and slightly sloping pasterns. Lovely angulated rear, width to second thigh and stifles well bent. He was enjoying his time in the ring, but when he got himself together, he moved with a long free stride.

1st Keepence Mr A & Keyte Miss A Redcap Northern Lights over Alandobel 6-year-old bitch tri-colour bitch, well off for bone. Feminine in head, with dark eyes and ears set on low. Neck is strong and of good length into fair shoulder placement though just a tad short in upper arm. Level in top line, with good width to loin. Moderate angulation in rear, just a little soft in muscle tone at present. Fair profile movement, but a little loose in pasterns.

1ST Odell, Ms Y Sukeshi Tsarina Alexandra Quality 9-month-old white and sable bitch, she is well grown with ample bone and lots of scope. I loved her aristocratic head, with super veining, dark expressive eyes and lovely small, rosed ears. Neck of good length and strength that fits smooth into a nicely made front. Forelegs clean and straight with slightly sloping pasterns and neat, well-knuckled feet. Good depth of brisket and infill, with strength and breath to loin. Lovely angulated rear with width to second thigh, moved soundly, with a light free stride in profile. A promising puppy. RBOB & BP

1ST Bridge, Miss K Jansams The Show Must Go On Upstanding 4-year-old white and red male of generous proportions. Masculine head that is long and lean with the desired Roman nose and well held rosed ears. Muscular, well-arched neck flows into a good shoulder placement, he is well off for bone, although I would prefer better arch to his feet. Lovely, curvy underline and correct top line. Muscular loin with correct fallaway to well carried tail. Presented in super coat and condition, he floated around the ring with effortless power. BOB

1ST Nicholas & Baker, Miss D F & Mrs P M Kensteen Laird of Islay Ballygrand TAF 6-year-old male with a shapely silhouette, balanced and in proportion. Masculine head with expressive eyes and super rosed ears, he has a good length of neck flowing into well-placed shoulders, sturdy in body with good length of ribbing and strong arched loin. Forelegs straight with well knuckled feet, although nails could be shorter. His rear is broad with strong parallel hocks which enabled his easy and active movement around the ring. BOB

1st Murray, Mr J A Dukesarum Casper at Sabata (AI) A promising 13-month-old brindle youngster, well-grown and powerfully built. Masculine head of correct proportions with well-held, rosed ears.
Good length of muzzle with strength to under jaw and strong dentition. Muscular, arched neck fits smoothly into a correctly made front assembly, with good return of upper arm and elbows well under. His has depth to his chest, back is nicely ribbed with a strong, broad loin. Balanced rear angulation with parallel hocks, he held his outline on the move. RBOB

1st Crosse, Mrs A T Rainster Evie 2-year-old grey brindle bitch, she is nicely balanced and in proportion. Feminine head that is beautifully furnished, dark oval eyes and good pigmentation. She has strength and a graceful arch to her neck; her front is well made with nice width to brisket. Well ribbed back with broad muscle loin, curvy croup giving a good tail set and carriage. Her quarters are well made and muscled, she was beautifully presented and handled. Loved her long and easy movement. BOB
2nd Dawson, Mrs F & Mr G Hydebeck Heart of Gold at Graefyn 2-year-old tall wheaten male, no denying his masculinity. Typical head with kind expression, good length to muzzle and super rosed ears. Strong, muscular neck fits nicely into a fair front assembly, if his upper arm was a touch longer, it would enable him a better reach. Great depth of chest with back well ribbed, just needs to fill out a little more in front. Good width to rear with low set hocks. Shown in lovely harsh coat and good muscular condition.

1st Thomas-Bassett, Mrs T Fiadma’s Stiggens 9-month-old red wheaten male who was balanced and collected, an eye-catching youngster. Nice parallel lines to his head, with good depth and strength to muzzle. Long, muscular neck leading to a good front assembly, he is well boned for size with compact well shaped feet. Strong rear quarters with width to 2nd thigh. Sound on the out and return, with good foot fall in profile. BP
2nd Doughty, Mrs T & Mr R Rubiltra Gunna Be Devine 11-month-old light wheaten, attractive and clean in outline. She has a pretty head with the darkest of eyes, and well-placed ears. Balanced angulation front and rear with just the right amount of infill and chest for age. Strong hindquarters which she put to good use on the move. A nice youngster.

1ST Dawson, Mrs K & Mr G Priorpark Problem Solved 16-month-old wheaten male, with clean lines and balanced angulation fore and aft. Classic head with broad, flat skull and strength to under jaw. Strong through body without exaggeration, ribs are well sprung with a gentle curve of croup and good tail set. Nicely developed rear with correct bend of stifle. Free and active movement around the ring.
2nd Willoughby, Mrs A J Kazembe Cult Classic Very neat and shapely 16-month-old light wheaten bitch. Pretty head, with dark eyes and sparkling expression. Good reach of neck with decent shoulder placement and nice depth of chest to elbow. Curvy underline, with broad back and strength to loin. Nicely angulated rear with low set hocks. Handler just needs be aware of how his dog stands, as sometimes was standing under herself and losing her shape. Moved free and active.

1st Hudson, Miss K Mutoko’s Parkers Glory 12-month-old red wheaten, well-proportioned and unexaggerated. She didn’t look out of place with the older hounds. Lovely feminine head with expressive eyes and dark pigmentation. Strong, well arched neck into a good front assembly, curvy underline and strong in top line. Solid construction with plenty of bone and well-knuckled feet. Good set on of tail and shapely hind quarters. Moved positively around the ring.
2nd Thomas-Bassett, Mrs T Bonfirebeau Red Skye 2-year-old red wheaten bitch. Built on a good frame with ample bone. Feminine head of pleasing proportions, with dark round eyes and good pigmentation. Neck of good length with decent shoulder placement - would just prefer more length to upper arm to allow that extra reach in stride. Good depth of chest and back well-ribbed. She held her top line on the move. Well-handled and presented, shown in good, hard condition.

1st Hodge, Mrs K Kxoxo I’m Old Fashioned for Colkeririn JW ShCM Quality 19-month-old light wheaten male, handsome and masculine without exaggeration and perfectly balanced. A lot to like about this upstanding youngster. Fabulous breed type, just loved his head of excellent planes, with good depth of muzzle and a lovely dignified expression. Strong, well arched neck flows smoothly into a super shoulder placement with correct return of upper arm. This boy is strongly boned with perfectly straight fore legs, nicely sprung pasterns and the best of feet. He is deep in brisket with good width throughout, with a powerful and muscular loin. Shown in excellent condition, he is built for endurance. Beautifully handled on a nice loose lead, he moved straight and true, a joy to watch. BOB
2nd Bates, Mrs J M & Mr D H Ch Gunthwaites Ayr of Elegance JW Super body shape on this stunning 2-year-old bitch, she is so well muscled and clean in outline. The best of heads with an equal combination of femininity and strength. She has the darkest of eyes and pigmentation, with ears set on high beautifully framing her face. Long, crested neck flowing into an excellent front assembly, elbows perfectly under and well off for bone. Her chest is deep and capacious with a strong top line and muscular loin. Rear quarters are well defined with width to second thigh and parallel low set hocks. Beautifully presented and handled, she excelled on the move and covered the ground with ease. RBOB

1st Davies, Mrs H & Mr J Zafaraniyeh Dashte Margo Promising 10-month-old old Black and Tan bitch, very attractive with lots to appreciate. Typical head, with dark oval eyes giving her a gentle expression with lovely fringes coming on her ears. Reachy neck fits into a well-made front assembly with good return of upper arm, ample depth of brisket with back well-ribbed. Her top line flows with a gentle rise over the loin to a nicely muscled rear. Smooth and gleaming in coat, her movement was true fore and aft. RBOB & BP
2nd Davies, Mrs H & Mr J Zafaraniyeh Dashte Kavir Well grown and nicely proportioned 10-month- old black fringed fawn, litter mate to 1st - 2 peas in a pod. Loved her sweet, feminine head with that typical far away expression. Balanced angulation front and rear, straight forelegs with slightly sloping pasterns and correct feet. Her back is well-ribbed with a sweeping underline and gentle curve over the croup. She looks to be going through a growth spurt at the moment, and is just standing a little high in the rear. Light and effortless movement around the ring.

1st Ward Mrs L Caryna Manantena at Backtor 4-years-old black fringed fawn, a shapely male in his prime. Attractive in head, both in shape and proportions which is framed by his beautifully fringed ears. Long, strong neck into a good front assembly, his chest is deep, back well ribbed with a good depth of brisket and neat tuck up. Good width to croup with a lovely sweeping rear and low set hocks. He just floated around the ring showing both reach and drive. BOB
