Thank you to the committee of the East of England Afghan Hound Club for inviting me to judge your morning summer show. Thankfully, the rain stayed away so we were able show outside although it was rather chilly. Thank you to Junette for stewarding for me; we did have some fun! More importantly, thank you to the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to judge your wonderful hounds and for accepting my decisions with good grace. MINOR PUPPY DOG 1 1st Kirk & Williams, Mr A & Mrs E Istani Omar Sheriff Confident, 7-month-old self-masked cream. Masculine head with nice eye shape, low set ears and super monkey whiskers. Good reach of neck with balanced angulation front and rear. Forelegs straight and well-boned with large, well-padded feet. Level in topline, which he held on the move. Ring tail raised in action. PUPPY DOG 4 1st Gray, Mrs E A Rhajikhan Walking On Water 10-month-old brindle. Well bodied for his age and nicely made all through. Masculine head with lovely dark triangular eyes, good length to muzzle and irresistible monkey whiskers. Length and strength to neck, with well-placed shoulders and correct return of upper arm. He has good depth of chest, with his saddle starting to come through and a short, broad loin. Nicely angulated rear with short hocks. Moved with a lovely springy gait. BPD & BPIS 2nd Kirk & Williams, Mr A & Mrs E Istani Omar Sheriff see 1st minor puppy VETERAN DOG 1 1st Winters, Mr C S & Mrs S S GaramondCloudberry For Tokando At 11-years-old, this handsome black brindle has lost none of his qualities with age. Masculine head that is balanced, he has the darkest of eyes and breed typical expression. Good length of neck into a correct front and infill, forelegs straight, and elbows well under. His topline is still firm, with width to his back and correct fallaway. Presented in lovely coat. Moved purposely around the ring – a real credit to his owners. BVD & BVIS JUNIOR DOG 1 1st Lancashire & O’Donnell, Mrs A M, Mr M & Miss C Drishaun Baby’s In Black JW Quality 15-month-old Black and Tan who is an instant eye catcher, he walked into the ring as if he owned it. Loved his masculine yet elegant head that was beautifully balanced through skull and fore face, with expressive dark eyes that look right through you. Long, powerful neck flows smoothly into a super shoulder placement, with good depth of chest and nicely sprung ribs, attractive saddle and noticeable pin bones. He stands on good bone with long, springy pasterns and large, well-padded feet. Powerful, sweeping rear quarters with low set hocks. His movement is true and parallel coming and going, moving around the ring with a style of high order, ringed tail carried correctly. Beautifully presented in excellent condition. BD & BIS YEARLING DOG 3 1st Hitch, Ms M & Mrs N Zendushkas Amarillo JW Quality 21-month-old black masked gold, immaculately presented, with lots to appreciate. Super masculine head that is beautifully chiselled, with dark triangular eyes and strength to underjaw. His strong neck flows smoothly into a lovely shoulder placement with good depth of brisket and well-sprung ribs. Clean saddle shows off his topline and muscular loin, with prominent pin bones, his ringed tail completes the picture. Length and strength to rear, with good width to second thigh and short, parallel hocks. Powered around the ring, showing reach and drive. In excellent coat and muscle tone. RBD 2nd Drage, Mr M & The late Mrs J Zendushkas Born to Run Eye catching 21-month-old self masked gold, litter mate to 1st. Rangy young hound with a balanced outline. Typical head, with length and strength to muzzle, low set ears with a silky fringe. Long, strong neck fits smoothly into clean shoulders, with elbows set well under. He is level in top line with a natural saddle and broad muscular loin. Low set ringed tail carried correctly on the move. NOVICE DOG 0 GRADUATE DOG 1 1st Kirk & Williams, Mr A & Mrs E Istani Davidoff the Game Well grown 18-month-old Black and Tan. Masculine head with dark eye, good length of muzzle with strong dentition. Long, strong neck with head held proudly. His shoulders are set sloping, though would prefer more length to his upper arm which would enable his elbows to be directly under. Natural saddle with prominent pin bones and a correctly carried ringed tail. Rear quarters are well-muscled, just a tad long in hocks. Steady mover around the ring. POST GRADUATE DOG 0 LIMIT DOG 3 (1) 1st Parker, Miss C M Saxonmill, Majic Moment at Khatira Impressive 2-year-old Black and Tan, well-balanced in angulations and is of pleasing proportions. Dignified, masculine head, with the darkest of eyes giving an expression of certain keen fierceness. Neck is strong and long, set well into his shoulders, with correct return of upper arm. His back is well-ribbed with a short, muscular loin, natural saddle and prominent pin bones. Good sweep from hips to his hocks. Shown in immaculate coat. He covered the ground with ease, showing a smooth and springy gait. 2nd Peek-Matar, Mrs D Yanksukhim’s Sherbet Fizz Nicely handled 3-year-old black-blue. Classic masculine head, with dark triangular eyes and a majestic mandarin beard. Fair length of neck into a decent front assembly. Back is well ribbed with a clean saddle showing off his topline and loin, although a tad long in body. Powerful rear quarters with good length from hip to his low set hocks. Carried his tail well on the move, although would prefer more of a ring. OPEN DOG 1 (1) MINOR PUPPY BITCH 0 PUPPY BITCH 2 1st Dove, L Rhajikhan Star of the North Well grown 10-month-old brindle bitch. Very collected for her age and presented a pleasing outline. Feminine head, with length and strength to muzzle, correct ear placement and a face full of monkey whiskers. Good reach of neck set into clean shoulders, her topline is level with correct slope of fallaway and tail set. Very composed on the move for one so young. 2nd Cook, Ms R Grace Kelly Pretty 9-month-old black masked cream, a very raw puppy. Feminine head, with dark eyes and pigmentation, all enhanced with super monkey whiskers. Good length of neck into fair shoulder placement, her back is level with a short, muscular loin. Balanced in rear with low set hocks. Steady mover with tail carried correctly, would prefer it to be a tad longer with more ring. VETERAN BITCH 2 (1) 1st Morgan, Mrs L Rhazmakh Precious Tyme at Suranda Dignified almost 8-year-old red. Feminine head of nice length and strength, ears set on low and covered with a silky fringe. Strong neck into decent front assembly, with fair depth of brisket and adequately filled in front. Her back is well-ribbed with a natural saddle and prominent pin bones. Rear has just enough angulation with low set hocks. She wasn’t overly enthusiastic about being in the ring, which affected her movement. Sympathetically handled. JUNIOR BITCH 1 1st Lancashire & O’Donnell, Mrs A M & Mr M & Miss C Drishaun What Baby Wants Eye catching 15-month-old shaded masked red. Litter mate to my BIS, and is cut from the same cloth. She has fabulous breed type, her head and expression are stunning with lovely dark well-shaped eyes giving that desired ‘eastern’ expression. Long, strong neck into a clean shoulders, with elbows set well under. Standing on good bone with large, well-padded feet. She is level in topline with a natural saddle and prominent pin bones, Lovely sweeping rear with low set hocks. Sound and collected, she excelled on the move. RBB. Elegant feminine head, dark eyes, and punishing jaws. Her strong neck flows smoothly into a lovely shoulder placement, with good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. She was beautifully presented with an attractive saddle and prominent pin bones; her ringed tail completed the picture. Moved around the ring with plenty of drive, maintaining her topline. Promising youngster. LIMIT BITCH 0 OPEN BITCH 2 1st Rhodes, Shaverneva & Garrod, Mrs S, Ms M & Mr J Shadowfax Threepenny Opera JW 5-year-old shapely Blue/Cream domino bitch. Lovely feminine head and eye shape with an appealing expression, she has strength to underjaw and correct dentition. Her ample neck gives her a naturally proud bearing and fits well into her shoulders. Back is broad and she is level in topline, with a clean saddle and prominent pin bones. Under her silky coat, she is well-angulated both fore and aft. Moved soundly coming and going with easy profile movement showing reach and drive. BB & RBIS 2nd Cullen, Mrs T M Cloudside Sevillana at Eweyisska (AI) Well presented 5-year-old black brindle bitch. Beautiful feminine head, with dark triangular eyes and low-set fringed ears. Long, muscular neck into a decent front, with shoulders set sloping, just a tad short in upper arm. She has good depth and length of brisket with a level back and broad, muscular loin.
