Thank you to the committee for my invitation to judge at this popular, well run Premier Open show. Thank you to my two stewards Mairi and Claire who worked tirelessly and helped keep the ring flowing. I had a fantastic entry, with some quality hounds which gave me some difficult decisions.

There were plenty of impressive youngsters who, I am sure, will have great success in the show ring and give their owners some fun times ahead. There was a wonderful atmosphere at ring side. Thank you for accepting my decisions with good grace.

1st Jones, Mrs S & Mr D Blevwil Helter Skelter Nicely presented13-month-old male, with a handsome, masculine head, dark eyes and ears of good length. Balanced in angulations, he stands on good bone with neat, tight feet. His chest is deep, with plenty of infill, and a prominent sternum. I just would prefer a touch more width to his rear to compliment his outline. Standing a little bum high at present, he moved true with tail carried correctly.

1st Leech & Thornton, Dr A & Mrs E Ch Mochras Mahgaux JW What a quality 2-year-old bitch she is! Feminine, slightly domed head of correct proportions, with lovely dark eyes and strength to underjaw. She has a strong, short, muscular neck which flows into an excellent shoulder placement, with a lovely return of upper arm. Her ribs are nicely rounded and carried well back. Rear quarters are powerful with good bend of stifle and strong, parallel hocks. Shown in wonderful harsh jacket, her movement was true in all directions. BOB

2nd Perry, Mrs JL Ch Blevwil Nick Nack ShCM Balanced and sturdily built 8-year-old male shown in tip top condition. Loved his masculine head with greying eyebrows, dark eyes and pigmentation, and lovely Roman nose. His muscular neck fits smoothly into a good shoulder placement, with good depth of chest and well-rounded ribs. Level topline with a strong, short loin. Tail set on high and held correctly on the move. RBOB

1st Woodworth, Mrs M Woodrich Summer Breeze Attractively marked12-month-old tri-colour bitch, full of quality and promise. I could have taken her home with me! Lovely feminine head of pleasing proportions, with expressive dark eyes and fine, velvety ears and just the right amount of wrinkle. Muscular, attractively arched neck fits into correctly placed shoulders with back well-ribbed and level topline. She is developing nicely in rear quarters, with width to second thigh and short hocks. Moved with plenty of scope; she should have a bright future. BP & HPG4

2nd Green, Mrs L V Nefritis Black Beauty at Braithwell (Imp Hun) Pretty 6-month-old black blanket bitch, very much a baby. Lovely feminine head which is elegantly domed, and long leathers. Balanced angulations fore and aft, with ample depth of chest for one so young. She is level in topline, just looking a tad long in body at the moment. Super temperament on this puppy, she enjoyed her day in the ring and put a smile on my face.

SPECIAL YEARLING DOG OR BITCH 2

1st Woodworth, Mrs M Armardio Against the Wind JW Quality 21-month-old red and white male. I loved his head, which was handsome yet elegant; with the darkest of eyes, Roman nose, and strength to underjaw. Balanced in outline, with depth and width to chest, level in topline and with a broad muscular loin. This boy is in fabulous condition, he moved with a lovely profile action, I considered him for top honours.

2nd Hampton, Mrs J Big Long Blues Prometheus Well grown 17-month-old tri male. Masculine head of good proportions, ears nicely curled, just a touch long. Ample boned and bodied, his rib cage has depth, and extends well back. He moved steadily around the ring with strongly muscled rear quarters and low set hocks.

1st Seddon, Mr & Mrs I T Dalpatricks Top Gun at Sedonia Impressive, solidly built 15-month-old black blanket male, very much a showman. Fabulous, masculine head of correct planes with prominent occiput. Lovely depth to flews and leathers set correctly. His strong, arched neck fits smoothly into a lovely front assembly with plenty of forechest. Back is broad with good length of ribbing and level topline, which he held on the move. Rear quarters are super muscled. He moved true in all directions, showing reach and drive. His coat was just gleaming in the sunshine, this boy should have a bright future. RBOB

2nd Pearson, Miss Y C Armardio Candle in the Wind JW Substantial yet elegant 21-month-old red blanket bitch. Typical, feminine head, with lovely, clean, bright eyes and long, velvety leathers. She has good reach of neck and a nicely made front, with super depth of chest and prominent sternum. She used her strongly muscled hindquarters to her advantage around the ring, with tail set on correctly and carried sabre fashion.

1st Pearson, Miss Y C Armardio Wind of Change JW Quality 21-month-old red blanket bitch. She impressed me when she came into the ring with her smooth balanced outline and powerful, effortless movement. She has such a pretty, feminine domed head, with dark expressive eyes, long flews and the most velvety ears. Her strong, arched neck flows smoothly into a super front assembly, with correct return of upper arm and a well-developed forechest. Sturdy in body, she is level in topline and has plenty of ground clearance. Full and muscular rear quarters with short, parallel hocks. Moved true in all directions. BOB

2nd Woodworth, Mrs M Ch Armardio Firestarter Noble 5-year-old red blanket male, full of substance without being course. He has the most handsome headpiece, with clean dark eyes, domed skull and large, wide open nostrils which he was using today! Neck is strong leading into a good front assembly; super depth of chest with a nicely rounded rib cage and a strong, muscular loin. Level in topline, his rear is powerful with width to second thigh and low set hocks. Moved true, but was just little distracted on the move with aromas around the ring.

1St Heap, Mr R A Lynx In the Limelight Rae ( Imp Swe ) Promising 9-month-old bitch. Feminine head of good length, with dark intelligent eyes and pigmentation, and small, rosed ears. Good reach of neck that flows into clean shoulders, her back is nicely ribbed with ample depth of chest for age and neat tuck up. Shapely rear quarters with low set hocks, her long, well-feathered tail carried low on the move. BP

A lovely class to judge, with some quality youngsters.

1st Dawson, Mr A, Mr N & Mrs E Mischran The Sequel for Stubbylee Upstanding and athletic 16-month-old white and grey male, very attractive and promising – he came into the ring brimming with confidence. Aristocratic, lean head with lovely veining; dark almond shaped eyes and lovely Roman nose. Long, slightly arched neck flows into clean, muscular shoulders. He has a good depth of chest, just needs to fill out as he matures. Gently curving topline into a nicely balanced croup with a long, well feathered tail. His sweeping rear quarters are powerful, his hocks well let down and perpendicular. Shown in lovely coat and splendid muscular condition. Sound, light effortless movement. BOB and shortlisted in the group.

2nd Odell, Ms Y Sukeshi Tsarina Alexandra Refined 13-month-old white and sable bitch, she is well-grown with lots of scope. Elegant, feminine head with dark, expressive eyes, strength to underjaw and strong dentition. Good neck and shoulder placement, she stands on quality bladed bone with neat, well-arched feet. Her back is broad and nicely ribbed with curvy tuck up and shapely topline. Her rear has width, with a good bend of stifle, she moved with reach and drive, a promising youngster. RBOB

POST GRADUATE DOG OR BITCH 2

1st Webb, Mrs K Mischran Tissaia at Parsax 3-year-old red bitch. Pretty, feminine head of equal planes with dark expressive eyes and high set ears. Strong, well-muscled neck into a decent front assembly. Forelegs clean and straight with good spring to pasterns and neat feet. Balanced in rear, her low set tail carried correctly on the move.

2nd Haywood & Mannay Rosskaja Lady in Red of Sterrennacht 2-year-old red and white bitch, enjoying her time in the ring. Head long and lean with lovely veining; dark almond eyes and pigmentation and small rosed ears. Moderate in angulations, would just prefer more width all through and more depth to her chest. Her back is nicely ribbed and topline is gracefully arched. I would like to see her carrying a little more weight.

1st Donnelly Ms M Serenefox Brutus Impressive 4-year-old red and white male, in glorious coat, he looked lovely on the stack. Large, masculine head, with the most beautiful, rosed ears. Decent front assembly with good depth of chest and infill, lovely sweeping rear quarters with width to second thigh. He is just carrying a tad too much weight at the moment. Profile movement was easy, although a little untidy in his rear moving away.

2nd Raczka, Mr P & Mrs C Prime Rubin Castor (Imp Hun) Beautifully presented elegant 3-year-old Red with white markings male. Balanced typey head; long, strong neck into a fair shoulder placement, although would prefer a better return of upper arm as this affected his movement. He has a pleasing depth and width of brisket, ribs are well sprung with a broad, muscular loin. Ample muscling to rear with strong, parallel hocks. Nicely handled.

1st Hough, Mr W & Mrs J Secret Agent With Sufayre Rangy, nicely proportioned 19-month-old male. Lovely, handsome head; stop well defined and dark eyes giving that desired tranquil expression. Long, strongly muscled neck fits smoothly into a good front assembly, elbows close to body. His chest is deep with a moderate spring to rib with a short, broad loin. He held his topline on the move, using his powerfully made rear to drive around the ring. Lovely coat and condition. BOB

A wonderful class of puppies, with some difficult decisions to be made.

1st Parsons, Miss H Priorpark’s Par the Course Balanced 7-month-old red wheaten male, full of promise and lots to appreciate. Masculine head of equal planes, with broad, flat skull and dark, expressive eyes. Lovely arched neck flows into a nicely made front assembly, with good return of upper arm and brisket to elbow. He has plenty of bone, with compact, well-knuckled feet. Shapely rear quarters with good muscle tone and strong low set hocks. Moved around the ring with a long and easy stride.

2nd Barnes, Miss K J Diamondridge Dreadnought Eye catching 11-month-old red wheaten male, attractive and clean in outline. There is no denying his masculinity from his head alone. He is balanced and well grown, I wouldn’t want him any taller. Powerful neck into a textbook front assembly, chest is deep with ribs extending well back. Forelegs straight, correct spring of pasterns and neat feet. His rear quarters are strongly made and muscled. Sound movement on the out and back. A very nice puppy.

1st Parsons, Miss H Priorpark Proof in Pudding Very neat and shapely 7-month-old red wheaten bitch. What a cracker she is! She came into the ring full of energy, looking an absolute picture. She is just perfectly proportioned and unexaggerated. Pretty, feminine head with dark expressive eyes, good length of muzzle and strength to underjaw. I loved her strong, crested neck that flowed into super shoulders, with nice depth of body. Her chest is capacious, and her back is broad with a strong, muscular loin. She is balanced in rear, with width to second thighs and parallel, low set hocks. She moved around the ring with such flair and confidence. RBOB, BP & HPG1

2nd Cyprien, Porter & Willunat, Miss J R, Mr R M & Ms C Honeybush Clouds Novel Princess Zola with Jocerik (Imp Deu) Nicely constructed 15-month-old red wheaten bitch. Classic head with dark eyes and pigmentation, flat back skull and correctly placed ears. Good length of neck into a decent front assembly; curvy underline, with broad back and strength to loin. Nicely developed rear with good bend of stifle and strong, low hocks. Lovely profile movement.

1st Hudson, Miss Z Mutoko’s Parkers Glory JW Typey 17-month-old red wheaten bitch that I have judged before and is maturing nicely. She is beautifully balanced throughout. Pretty, feminine head with correct width between the ears, expressive dark eyes, and strength to muzzle. Lengthy neck into a good front assembly, with plenty of infill and depth to brisket. Curvy underline and strong in topline, which she held on the move. Pleasing in rear angulation; loved her long and easy movement around the ring.

2nd Dennis, Mr G Sonnypride Rum & Raisin 3-year-old wheaten male, nicely muscled with a clean outline. Masculine head with lovely eye shape and expression. Strong, muscular neck into a decent front assembly, broad, firmly muscled back and powerful loin. Balanced in rear, with correct slope of croup and tail set. Short, sleek coat. Sound mover in all directions.

1st Barnes, Mrs L Miss K & Mr K Diamondridge Kazembe Golden Age Imposing 2-year-old red wheaten. She made a great overall impression when she entered the ring. She is built on a quality frame with lovely bone, beautifully balanced with nothing exaggerated – a top draw bitch. Her head is feminine with parallel planes, dark expressive eyes and correctly held ears. Lovely length of neck, which was gracefully arched into a first-class front assembly, elbows sit directly under her withers. Excellent infill of forechest, her back is broad with well sprung ribs and strong muscular loin. Presented in tip top muscular condition with powerful rear quarters which have width to second thigh and strong, parallel hocks. She owned the ring in her class and excelled in the challenge, moving purposely around the ring showing reach and drive. BOB & HG3

2nd Hodge, Mrs K Colkeririn The Sun Runhr Upstanding 4-year-old bitch of good body and substance. Beautiful, feminine head, with lovely detail and dark, round eyes giving a wonderful expression. Her shapely neck fits into a super front assembly. She is well off for bone and stands on compact, well knuckled feet. Deep in chest with with lovely ribbing and strong, broad muscular loin. Rear angulation is balanced, with broad thighs and a good turn of stifle. Moved true in all directions, beautifully handled and presented.
