Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your well run, popular Premiere Open Show. Many thanks to Di and Debbie for ensuring the smooth running of my ring, you made my job easier. Thank you also to the exhibitors for bringing their wonderful hounds for me to judge, and for accepting my decisions with good grace. It was a particularly warm day, and the occasional breeze was most welcome.

BASENJI

PUPPY DOG OR BITCH 2

1st Stratton, Mrs J W Justartee This Is Me Elegant, 7-month-old red and white bitch who was balanced and graceful in outline and looked a picture on the stack. I loved her nicely wrinkled feminine head, with dark almond eyes and correct scissor bite. She has a good front assembly with just the right amount of infill for age and a short, level back. She stood on fine bone and had the desired tail set and curl. Her movement around the ring was light with a free flowing action - she just needs to tighten up in her front movement. A promising puppy.

2nd Knights & Stokes Messrs D & J Lelaps River Song A nicely grown 8-month-old red and white bitch. Just not quite the length of leg of 1st. She has a pretty head of pleasing proportions, with the correct ear set and wrinkle. Her neck is of good length and flows into well-laid shoulders. Her forelegs are straight with flexible pasterns and neat feet. Her rear is strong, which enabled her positive and purposeful movement around the ring.

SPECIAL YEARLING DOG OR BITCH 1

1st Knights & Stokes Messrs D & J Lelaps Time Lord This 8-month-old red and white male is full of quality and promise. He impressed me with his super outline and overall type and balance. I loved his masculine, yet elegant head with the darkest of eyes, and well-hooded ears. He has a beautifully crested neck and a super front assembly, with great depth of chest for his age. He is firm and level in topline. His tail is high set with a double curl, and plenty of buttock behind. Standing on quality, fine bone he has small, compact feet, with just enough arch to his toes. On the move he had plenty of drive, with a brisk and accurate footfall. A top-class puppy who should have a bright future. BOB, BP & HPG1

1st Knights & Stokes Messrs D & J Tokaji Candy Apple Red at Lelaps Coming up to 5, this red and white bitch is in her prime. She is beautifully balanced and was nicely presented. She has a pleasing head with correct cushioning to cheeks, and strength to underjaw. She is neat and compact in outline; with a lovely, arched neck, short level back and definite tuck up. She has strength to her moderate rear, with strong, parallel hocks. She moved around the ring with lovely, easy strides and looked beautiful in profile. RBOB

1st Strudwick, Mr L & Mrs J Armardio Ride Like The Wind Among Kumamatata JW A quality 2-year-old red and white male who is really eye catching. I loved his domed, noble head with clean dark eyes, long flews and lovely velvety leathers. His strong, arched neck flows smoothly into a good front assembly. He has super depth of chest, with nicely rounded ribs that extend well back and stands on excellent bone, with large, well-padded feet. He is level in topline and has plenty of ground clearance. This boy moved effortlessly around the ring using his powerful rear. BOB & HG2

1st Shadbolt, Mr I M & Mrs S C Sedonia’s Ambassador of Akura 7-year-old heavily marked tri-colour male who was enjoying his day in the ring. Lovely, masculine head of pleasing proportions, with dark eyes and leathers set on low. He is balanced in angulations front and rear, with good depth of chest and plenty of infill, although a tad short in body. He was shown in good condition with a short, close coat. He moved steadily around the ring with his stern carried correctly. RBOB

1st Borsuk, Mrs M & Mrs G Boartracker Bill 7-year-old stag-red male. He has a masculine, dark-masked head with a well-defined stop, and strength to his muzzle. His strong neck connects to a decent front, although I would prefer a slightly tighter elbow. This boy is strongly boned with neat, well-arched feet. He has depth to his chest, with oval ribs and a powerful, muscular loin. Correct in topline, with slight rise from withers to hindquarters which he maintained on the move. RBOB

1st Seago & Gibbard, Mrs D & Mr S Conwydogs Purple Into Amlida A stunning 2-year- old deer-red bitch, full of quality and character. This young hound ticked all the boxes that I was looking for. Beautiful, black-masked head of correct proportions with dark, expressive eyes and leathers set on low. Her strong, well-muscled neck flows cleanly into a great front assembly with, depth and width to her brisket. Her back is broad and muscular with nicely sprung oval ribs and a short, broad loin. Standing she looked incredible, and on the move, she used her powerfully made rear to propel herself forward with light and springy movement. BOB & HG1

1st Knights & Stokes, Messrs D & J Lelaps King In The North 8-month-old male shown in good, quality coat. There is a lot to like about this well grown and promising puppy. I loved his head, which had the most appealing expression, and lovely dark almond shaped eyes. He has a strong, muscular neck which flows seamlessly into a good front assembly. He has straight forelegs and neat feet. His back was firm and level with enough strength to his loin and a pleasing tail set. His movement was effortless and I was pleased to award him BOB, BP and watch him win HPG3

1st Webb, Miss K Killoughery Misson Two For Inkleyboys JW A shapely and athletic 2-year-old wheaten brindle male, unexaggerated and shown in super-hard condition and lovely coat. Masculine head of good proportions, with dark oval eyes and pigmentation. His strong, muscular neck fits smoothly into a nicely made front, with elbows correctly under. Forelegs are strong and straight with spring to pasterns and large, well-knuckled feet. He has a good depth of chest, with his ribs extending well back and a broad, muscular loin. He has strong rear quarters with width to his second thigh. He moved easy and actively around the ring. BOB

1st Webb, Miss K Gaelmarque Mission Success For Inkleyboys 4-year-old substantial grey brindle male. He has a strong, well-furnished head with a lovely expression, strength to his muzzle and correct dentition. He is balanced in angulations fore and aft and has width to his pelvis and a gentle curve of croup. This boy was shown in excellent, muscular condition and has lovely harsh jacket, although I think he would look even better if he carried a little less weight. RBOB

RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK

All the Ridgebacks had correct ridges with two identical crowns opposite each other.

1st Barker, Mrs K L Delianza What’s Your Motive JW An eye-catching, typey 15-month-old red wheaten male - there is no denying this boys masculinity! He is solid in construction with plenty of bone and substance. His lovely, clean neck links into a good lay of shoulder. His chest is deep and capacious, with his ribs extending well back. On the move he used his broad, nicely-muscled rear quarters and strong hocks to his advantage. A smart, powerful youngster. RBOB & Best RBOB Hound.

1st Dawson, Dawson, & Parsons, Miss K, Mr G, & Miss H Priorpark Problem Solved A handsome and athletic male, coming up to 2 years of age. Classic head, with flat skull and correct width between his ears. His lovely, arched neck flows into clean shoulders, with good return of upper arm and elbows placed directly under his withers. He stands on quality bone with straight forelegs. His back is broad and muscular with a strong, powerful loin. Lovely free and active movement around the ring. Beautifully handled, a lovely partnership. BOB

1st Picton & Ince, Miss H & Mr A Priorpark Point And Click JW Upstanding 3 ½ -year-old liver-nosed wheaten male who was shown in good, hard condition. Clean in outline and balanced in angulations front and rear. He has a good length of neck, set into sloping shoulders, with depth and width to his brisket. His underline is curvy and is complemented by a strong topline, which he held on the move. Accurate and precise in his movement.
