Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this well run, popular show. Many thanks to Brian, my steward, who kept my ring in order. Thank you to the exhibitors for my wonderful entry and for accepting my decisions with good grace. I was delighted to watch my BOB Irish Wolfhound winning BIS and my BOB Deerhound win HG4. Then to watch my best Veteran Afghan win VG1, Ibizan VG2 and Saluki VH4! A wonderful day all round! My only gripe was that a few hounds had overly long nails which cannot be comfortable and can often affect movement. AFGHAN HOUNDS Puppy Dog or Bitch 1 (1) Junior Dog or Bitch 0 Post Graduate Dog or Bitch 5 (3) 1st Gunn, Mr R & Gunn, Miss C Katanga’s God of Thunder JW 22-month-old balanced Black and Tan male. Typical head, with length and strength to muzzle, low set ears covered with a silky fringe. He has a long, strong neck with head carried proudly, good depth of chest and is level in topline. On the move he covered the ground with long, easy strides, his ringed tail raised in action. 2nd Godber-Ford, Mr N, & Godber-Ford Mrs F Affyneeta Desert Wind 3-year-old black masked gold male. Classic head that is balanced, with lovely dark eyes, a Roman nose and a dignified mandarin beard. Fair length to his neck with a decent front assembly, he has depth to his chest and well sprung ribs. Level in topline with a natural saddle and ringed tail. I would just prefer to see him carrying a little less weight. Limit Dog or Bitch 3 1st McLay, Mrs S Cloudside Sun King Striking 6-year-old masked gold. Loved his super, masculine head that is beautifully chiselled, with dark triangular eyes giving that desired ‘eastern expression’ and a lovely mandarin beard. Long, strong neck into clean shoulders with elbows set well under. Standing on good bone with large, well-padded feet. He is level in topline with a natural saddle, ribs well back and a short, muscular loin. Powerful rear quarters with good length from hip to hock. Shown in lovely coat and condition, ring tail carried correctly on the move. 2nd Gunn, Ms C & Cannon, Mrs V Karagez Kartina Maslom at Zushkhan (Imp) 3-year-old shapely black and tan bitch. Well balanced angulations fore and aft. Beautiful feminine head with the darkest of eyes and breed typical expression. Fair length of neck leading into a correct front assembly, with good width and depth of chest. Level in topline with short loin and prominent pin bones. Low set tail carried correctly. Moved well on the out and return. Open Dog or Bitch 5 (2) 1st Cowley, Miss N & Maroney Cowley, Mrs S Hariri Ebn Mahsati Von Haussman (Imp Chl) Upstanding and dignified 4-year-old red male - beautifully presented in excellent silky coat and condition. He impressed me with his overall type and symmetry. Beautifully balanced head which has quality and masculinity – the darkest of eyes that seem to look right through you, and a wonderful mandarin beard. All framed with low-set ears with silky hair. Long, powerful neck that flows beautifully into a well-made front, with good width and depth to brisket. His clean saddle shows off his topline and broad, short, muscular loin, with a ringed tail set on low. His sweeping, well-muscled hind quarters are without exaggeration, with width to 2nd thigh and short parallel hocks. He powered around the ring in a style of high order, showing reach and drive, utilising the whole ring to his advantage. BOB 2nd Gunn, Ms C & Cannon, Mrs V Int Ch Lux Ch Amal Salang Hey I’m The Star at Zushkhan (Imp) A quality 9-year-old black brindle bitch belying her years, well balanced in angulation and of pleasing proportions. Feminine head that is beautifully chiselled, the darkest of eyes with a fabulous aloof expression. She has punishing jaws and correct dentition. Good length of neck leading into correct front and infill, forelegs straight and well boned with large, well padded feet. Level in topline with natural saddle, excellent fallaway with correctly ringed tail. Effortless and graceful movement in all directions with head carried proudly. BV and BVIS DEERHOUND Special Yearling Dog or Bitch 1 1st Sandells, Miss L Packway Blue Moon Well grown rangy 14-month-old male. Masculine typey head, with the darkest of eyes, and ears set on high, although they could be a little smaller. Good length of neck into a decent front assembly, deep chest and enough infill for age. Balanced in hindquarters with broad thighs and low set hocks. Pleasing side gait, just a tad close in rear. Post Graduate Dog or Bitch 2 (1) 1st Brodie, Miss Z & Owen Mr K Fritzens Zareef at Wolfscastle (Imp Ger) Athletic 2-year-old male, unexaggerated and full of quality. Loved his head, with beautifully rosed ears, aquiline nose and super moustache. Muscular neck of good length that flows into well-made shoulders and correct return of upper arm, with depth, length and spring of rib. Powerful drooping rear quarters that has width to 2nd thigh, well-bent stifle and low set hocks. Presented in good harsh coat. He moved soundly coming and going and with a lovely side gait, accurate in his footfall. BOB & HG4 Open Dog or Bitch 2 (1) 1st Wilce Quinton, Mrs J & Mr J Kirjojax Harris Soundly made 4-year-old male. Masculine head of correct proportions and beautifully rosed, well-held ears. Strong, reachy neck fits smoothly into well-laid shoulders, with straight forelegs and neat, well-arched feet. Good depth and length of brisket, curvy underline and typical topline. Good width to croup with a lovely sweeping rear with parallel hocks. Shown in super condition. This boy is fit for function! IRISH WOLFHOUND Special Yearling Dog or Bitch 0 Open Dog 1 1st Pask, Mrs P A & Pask, Mr P V Ch Baronglen The Nobleman (A.I) JW Shcex Most impressive 2 ½ -year-old dark brindle male, full of quality. He is, as the Standard requires, ‘of great size, strength, symmetry and of commanding appearance’. Masculine head of correct planes, with dark, oval eyes and well-held rosed ears. Powerful, arched neck flows into a well-made front assembly; he is well off for bone with correct spring to pasterns and large, well-knuckled feet. He has excellent depth of chest with well-sprung ribbing and a strong well-muscled loin. Powerful, curvy rear quarters with width to 2nd thigh, and strong low-set parallel hocks. Long tail, set on and carried correctly. Presented in super harsh coat. Sound, easy and active movement, with plenty of reach and drive in profile. A joy to see him in action. BOB & BIS Open Bitch 2 (1) 1st Heather, Miss W Ch Whiteorchard Ad Astra JW Upstanding 3-year-old brindle bitch of excellent proportions. Beautiful feminine head, with the darkest of eyes, super furnishings and small rosed ears. Strong, well-arched neck smoothly flows into a lovely shoulder placement with depth and width to brisket. Forelegs straight, with elbows perfectly under. Her back is well-ribbed with gentle rise over the loin; her sweeping underline leads to a strongly made rear. She moved purposely around the ring with crisp and precise footfall, showing both reach and drive. SALUKI Post Graduate Dog or Bitch 2 1st Thomas, Mr D & Thomas, Mrs M Sincerity Kalimantan Cashar (Imp Fin) I really liked this 9-month-old black grizzle boy. Well grown and in proportion, he is very collected for his age and nicely made all through. Classic head, with dark eye and pigmentation, well set ears, just starting to get fringes. Reachy neck into a nicely made front assembly with good return of upper arm. Depth and width to chest with back well-ribbed, his topline flows with a gentle rise over the loin. Balanced in rear with moderate bend of stifle and low set hocks. A promising puppy. BP & BOB. 2nd Smithson, Ms M Silvershadow Zelda Odi Et Amo Elessar Well bodied 2 ½ year-old chocolate bitch. Lean and balanced in head with lovely dark oval eyes and correctly set ears with long, silky hair. Good length of neck into decent front assembly, deep in chest with lovely topline and curvy underline. She has width to thighs and parallel hocks. Steady mover, although she carried her tail slightly high today, which spoilt her outline. Open Dog or Bitch 2 1st Smithson, Ms M Sunnusteins Safaniyah Jamill Chisobee Mature, gracefully balanced 8-year-old black tri male. Typical masculine head, with dark oval eyes and well-set, beautifully fringed ears. Long, muscular neck flows into a decent front with shoulders set sloping and correct infill. Good depth and length of brisket with a well ribbed back and strong, muscular loin. Broad rear quarters with low set hocks. Shown in gleaming coat. Pleasing side gait, just moved a little wide in front. BV & VG4 2nd Strong, Mr M & Strong, Mrs J Shahzad Zaki Ter Dolen (Imp Bel) 4-year-old black fringed fawn male, presented in super coat and condition. Masculine head with the darkest of eyes and pigmentation, long ears, beautifully fringed, although would prefer them to be set a little higher. Length and strength to neck which flows into good shoulders, with ample depth of chest and shapely underline. Well developed rear with correct turn of stifle leading to well let down hocks. Topline held on the move. SLOUGHI Open Dog or Bitch 1 1st Carter, Mrs A Aabidah De Polvo Magico (Imp Aut) 17-month-old elegant black masked sand bitch. Beautiful and refined feminine head with dark expressive eyes and pigmentation, fine flat ears correctly set. Her strong, arched neck flows into a well-made front assembly with flat bone and neat oval feet. Back well-ribbed with strength to loin and definite tuck up. Broad rear quarters with length to second thigh and strong parallel hocks. Effortless movement around the ring. Shown in super condition. BOB GREYHOUND Post Graduate Dog or Bitch 2 1st Wilce Quinton, Mrs J & Mr J Azravi’s Marked By The Sunrise at Kirjojax (Imp Nor) Well grown 20-month-old white and fawn male. Masculine head with dark eyes obliquely set, and lovely rosed ears. Strong neck flows smoothly into a decent front assembly. Forelegs are long and straight with sloping pasterns and neat, well-arched feet. He has depth to his chest and a powerful, broad muscular loin. His back is well-ribbed, although I would prefer more spring. Rear quarters have good width with super muscle tone and correct angulation. BOB 2nd Heyman, Miss J Magical Saskia 6-year-old fawn bitch. Presented in lovely condition. Pretty head with soft expression, with good length and strength to muzzle. Strong, well-muscled neck flows into a decent front assembly with straight bone, just a tad slack in pasterns. Firm, broad back, with a strong loin and curvy underline. She has good width to her rear quarters and parallel hocks. Moved steadily around the ring, nicely handled. Open Dog or Bitch 1st Heyman, Miss J Magical Saskia 2nd Post Graduate OTTERHOUND Open Dog or Bitch 1 1st Fitzherbert Stewart, Mrs A Olphae Fleur with Ottateck (A.I) Just 6 months old this pretty, black and tan bitch has a lot of qualities to appreciate. Feminine, domed head, with dark eyes and correct set and length of ears. Strong neck into well angulated front, with good infill and depth for age. Well-boned legs and large, round feet. On the move she held her topline and used her rear quarters well. Coat rough and harsh. Free flowing movement in profile, just a tad close in rear. A promising puppy who I will watch with interest. BP &BOB IBIZAN HOUND Post Graduate Dog or Bitch 0 Open Dog 1 1st Carter, Mrs A Nevaeh’s Radical Dude (Imp USA) Tall and well grown shapely 3-year-old, chestnut and red male. Masculine head, that is long and lean with expressive amber eyes and large ears; just wasn’t wanting to use them today. Good length of neck, with balanced moderate angulation fore and aft. His back is well-ribbed and he is firm in topline, with strength to his loin and a definite tuck up. Shown in super condition, he just needs to tighten up in his front movement. Open Bitch 3 (1) 1st Carter, Mrs A Ch Afilador Room On The Broom Sh Cm VW ShCex 9-year-old chestnut and white bitch who has lost none of her qualities with age. Typical in outline with a beautiful feminine head and expression, darkest of eyes and large mobile ears which she used well. Lovely length of neck, with a good front, shallow chest and flat ribs. Rear quarters are long and strong, with moderate angulation and neat well-arched feet. Moved true coming and going. BOB, BV & VG2 2nd Carter, Mrs A Amahte’s Bewitched VW (Imp Can) 11 years old today! Just slightly loosing her outline on the stack. Feminine head and expression, with dark eyes, strong muzzle and large, thin, erect ears. Breed typical front, with correct depth of chest, long straight legs, just becoming a tad loose in pasterns. Her back is well-ribbed, and her rear quarters are well muscled. She is in great condition for her age.
