St Andrews Cupar & District Canine Society

ST. ANDREWS, CUPAR & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY OPEN SHOW – 1st June 2024

Samoyed

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge my breed. My first time to a Scottish open show, lovely venue, very friendly and relax atmosphere all round. Thank all the exhibitors for their entries, but sadly only 2 exhibitors made it on the day. Special thanks to my steward Jackie Pritchard, apart from being very efficient, also chauffeuring me from the time I flown in, to the time I left, a full Scottish hospitality, thank you.

Junior (3, 2)

1st Drummond’s Sasoolka Winter Breeze. A 10-month-old boy and I was glad that the exhibitor is persisting on showing him. Still rather unsettled and shy, it’s certainly not fear of the ring, so with time and patience, it can be rectified. Otherwise, everything is developing in the right direction, nice pigmentation, movement did settle a bit by the time he’s in the challenge. Only found out that there’s only BOB for each breed, but BP in my eyes. Well done.

Post Graduate (5, 4)

1st Drummond’s Sasoolka Love On The Rocks. Just days short from 2 years old. This sweet girl has a lovely alert expression. Nice wedge-shaped head with well set eyes and ears. Good depth of chest, compact but well proportion showing a balanced outline. Good on the move, effortless and efficient. My RBOB if there’s one.

Open (5, 3)

1st Milne’s Lumistarr This Is How We Do It. 3-year-old boy, maturing nicely. Not a lot has changed since he last went under me less than a year ago. A prime example for our breed type in this country, no exaggerations. Powerful and balanced movement. Easily my BOB and great to know that under a very experience breed judge, he was awarded Group 2.

2nd Drummond’s Sasoolka Chase The Wind. 5-year-old lady, mum of the puppy. Nice feminine head, thick furry ears well set, with dark almond shaped eyes, good pigmentation and bite. A glowing Sammy smile. Good arch neck and well-placed shoulder. Good bone and angulation. Good texture coat with good carriage of tail. Steady mover, but on this occasion, slightly hampered by being the last of the 3 dogs consecutively shown. Good sport from the exhibitor.
