17th February 2024

Firstly I would like to thank the society for kindly inviting me to judge and to all exhibitors for their entries. A huge thank you to my stewards Amelie and John who looked after me with expertise.

Jack Russell Terriers

Puppy (9,6)

A lovely class of puppies with some nice exhibits going home unrewarded.

1st Irving, Mrs K M & Miss T J, Twinan High Regard, 10 month old dog. A cheeky, confident puppy. Masculine head, has a strong foreface, excellent scissor bite. Ears well set but I would prefer a slightly smaller ear. Straight front, excellent hind leg, well set tail. Well presented coat with loose pelt. Easily spannable. Moved with vigour and drive a real showman. BPIB and thrilled to see him take BPIS

2ND Lane & Lane-Ridyard, Mr & Mrs R S & Mrs P, Kulawand White Diamond, a just 6 months old dog. Could not believe this was his first show! Very confident, lovely temperament. Has neat well set ears, could be a little stronger in foreface, strong bite. He has a straight front and excellent rear, with a well set tail. Good coat, would prefer a little less condition but we’ll put that down to puppy fat, although still spannable. Moved well for one so young. Lost out to one on maturity of 1. I have no doubt he has a bright future.

3rd Taylor, Mr R D & Mrs D, Calaveys The Recognition at Minaelea, 9 month old bitch. This young lady deserves a mention as this was such a strong class of puppies. She has a beautiful feminine head with a delightful expression. A good coat and presented in tip top condition. Unfortunately she was out moved by the two boys today.

Junior (1,1)

Post Graduate (3,2)

1st Evans Mrs S & Mrs J, Kulawand Wicked Whisper at Jackpack 23 months old bitch. Loved this girl, she has a fabulous head, neat ears, feminine expression, dark eyes, correct strong scissor bite. A lovely reach of neck into a well laid shoulder, straight front and equally balanced hind leg. A good tail set. Execellent coat with loose pelt, in the most fabulous fit hard condition, easily spannable and looked very capable of a day’s work. Moved straight away and back. Free striding with excellent drive. Very pleased to award her BOB

Open (2,2)

1st Ridyard, Mrs A, Kulawand Wicked Waffle, 23 month old bitch, litter sister to post grad winner. Beautiful girl, neat ears, dark eyes, strong bite. Straight front and lovely balanced hind with a well set tail. Excellent coat and pelt. Spannable, however carrying rather a bit too much condition for my liking. Moved effortlessly around the ring. RBOB

2nd Evans Mrs S & Mrs J, Caldbeckjack Primrose at Jackpack 2 years old bitch. One I’ve judged before and she still oozes terrier personality. She has the neatest of ears and lovely dark eyes, excellent strong bite. She has a straight front and a fabulous hind leg, all well balanced in her small frame, easily spannable. Excellent, well presented coat with a loose pelt. Moved well but not quite the drive of one today.
