Yorkshire Gundog Club

Italian Spinone

Puppy (4,1)

1st Coldwell’s Lucoru Perpetual Spring

Sweet white & orange 8-month-old bitch puppy. Divergent head planes leading into a strong neck, this youngster has good length upper arm well laid-back shoulders, good depth of chest, well ribbed back, correct topline, moderate rear angulation with developing second thigh. Adult coat coming in is of good texture. Showing her cheeky side today, but her handler coped admirably with this, and managed to show me enough of the positive movement I know she is capable of to secure RBOB & BPIB A promising youngster who I will watch with interest.

2nd Hodgson’s Osulf Tutti Frutti

11-month-old white & orange bitch puppy, standing square and with good substance but carrying a bit too much ‘puppy fat’ for me today. Eyes of a good shape and size still needing to darken to give the very best expression but not unusual in a puppy of this age. Still needing to develop in fore chest but she has good depth to her chest and still needing to firm in rear movement, again not unusual in a Spinone of this age, but has lots of potential.

Junior (2,1)

1st Sergeant’s Javal I am Groot

6-month-old Brown Roan dog at his first show 3rd in puppy. A larger puppy with good depth and substance for his age, masculine all through. Good head and eye with a lovely expression, decent muscle for a baby this age. He went so much better for his dad in this class than previous where he was a bit of a thug. I saw some positive movement once he had settled. I loved him, but I do like the naughty boys! I hope his owner perseveres with him and fulfils the promise he shows here. I hope we see him out and about again soon.

Postgraduate (2,0)

1st Bovio’s Isolo River Island JW

2-year-old Quality White & Orange Bitch, previously judged as a youngster, standing square she is so balanced front and rear, lovely famine head of correct proportions with a kind eye leading to a strong neck and correct topline which she held on the move. She has good substance and depth for a young bitch and good bone, moving with reach and drive she excelled here today to take BOB, very pleased to see her shortlisted in a quality BIS she’s a super little bitch well done.

2nd Culling’s Lucoru Blown Over

19-month-old White & Orange dog, I have judged him before as a baby and gave him BPIB on that occasion. This boy is masculine all through, and he has very good bone, strong head with a lovely expression. He has plenty of forechest, good depth and is ribbed well back. Correct topline and good belly line, coat of a good texture standing on four good feet. I actually thought he would be my RBOB today, however his mind was not on the job in hand (Girls!) and it cost him in the challenge.

1ST Olives Daydream Believer

4-year-old white & orange masculine boy, good head planes with a lovely expression, well-made throughout with strong bone and substance. He could have been a contender here today, but he was a bit flat and carrying a bit too much weight for me.
