Bracco Italiano

I would like to thank the show committee for my judging appointment, and Sean my fantastic steward, who kept us all ticking along very efficiently. I haven’t been to this show ground previously and was pleased to see a large outdoor ring in the sunshine, which allowed the exhibits the space to show off their movement. I would also like to thank all of the exhibitors who entered under me, accepting my placings with good spirit, and making for a lovely atmosphere ringside.

Puppy, 2 (1 Abs)

1st Rose’s Bracciano Never Walk Alone with Piccorino - 6m C/W dog – This youngster has the most beautiful head, big spongey nose, ears well set, tight eyes and just the right amount of dewlap. Lovely arched neck breaking at the 12th vertebrae with top line rising slightly over the loin, with good width of second thigh powering him around the ring. A pleasure to judge him at his first show I think he will go far.

Special Yearling, 3 (1 Abs)

1st Rose’s Piccorino Pheasant Plucker – 9m C/W dog – Another lovely head, with tight eye, good depth of muzzle and ears set level with his eye. Well-muscled neck leading to well laid shoulders. Top line rising over loin with tail set giving that lovely, rounded bum appearance with the back of the thigh dropping vertically to good strong hocks. On the move this boy has a super eye-catching extended trot, RBOB and BP.

2nd Beecham’s Inspirations Lorenza Primavera – 15 m O/W bitch. This girl has a big spongey nose, tight eyes, slight stop and correct median to mid skull. Her neck is moderate and nicely muscled leading to well laid-back shoulders. She is short coupled and a well put together rear assembly. Didn’t quite have the movement of 1 on the day but believe that will come with maturity.

Post Graduate, 4 (2 Abs)

1st Pearson’s Braccorions You Can Conquer – 1yr 10m O/W dog. This young man has a lovely intelligent expression, slight roman nose, tight eye and moderate dewlap. Correct forechest and good length of upper arm. He has a deep chest, is short coupled and is shown in excellent condition. He has strong short hocks, with hind quarters driving him around the ring with ease.

2nd Beecham’s Gunsyn Hotrod at Rydonmist JW – 2yr O/W dog. He has a head so typical of the breed, with nice deep muzzle, slight chiselling under eye and well-set ears. Strong moderate neck with heavier dewlap than 1. He has plenty of bone is deep chested and well ribbed. On the move he has strong hind quarters but didn’t quite have the movement of 1 today.

Open, 5 (1 Abs)

1st Beecham’s Grafskoe Gnezdo Arlo (IMP) – 7yr 4m O/W dog. This boy thoroughly enjoyed his day despite the heat. He has a masculine head with good tight eye, divergent planes, good depth of muzzle and correct ear set. Neck is strong of good length with good forechest and correct shoulders. His topline is correct for the breed and well-set tail. He has plenty of bone with strong hocks. His powerful movement shows reach and drive, covering the ground with ease. He showed himself to full advantage and was clearly having a lovely time – a joy to see. BOB and I was also pleased to see he was awarded BVIS later in the day.

2nd Beecham’s Allegro Nord Bohemia Sheram at Rydonmist (IMP CZE) – 5yr 2m C/W dog. Big spongey nose and a kind eye. His ears are set correctly with a strong neck to well angulated front assembly. He has good length of upper arm with plenty of bone. His top line and underline are correct with good width across his second thigh to strong short hocks. He didn’t have the drive of 1 on the move.
