North Riding Gundog Club
A pleasure to judge for this hard working and friendly committee. The weather the previous few days had been wet so the ring was a little slippery in places. This affected some dogs but others coped well. The day itself was dry.
German Short Haired Pointers
Puppy (2)
Two promising litter mates.
1 Mann’s Valger Tiggywinkle
Presented a super outline when stacked and so good to go over. Well-shaped head with correct ear placement and lovely expression. Strong neck for her age with well angulated shoulders. Good depth of body and correct moderate rear angulation. She moved well going away from me. Best Puppy
2 Dorn and Adey’s Valgar Tennessee
Another good one with plenty to like here. Super head with good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Plenty of width to his quarters with hocks nicely let down. Not as consistent on the move as his sister today.
Junior (8, 4 abs)
1 Brown’s Montalba Miss Aching
Promising 14 month old with refined head, strong neck of good length and straight well boned front legs. Well ribbed for her age with width and depth giving plenty of heart room. Good rear angulation. Edged this class on her extension in profile as she coped better with the conditions underfoot than the second.
2 Ellis’ Soellis Feral Beryl
One I have previously admired and still do. More compact type and presented a pleasing, balanced outline. Well-shaped head with good width to her body and firm well-muscled couplings giving a firm topline. She has strong quarters with plenty of width to her second thigh. Did not move as I know she can,
3 Brown’s Montalba Mustrum Ridcully
Limit (5,1)
1 Barker’s Barkersdream Who Dares Wins
Flashily marked 3 year old girl in good coat and body condition. Feminine head with good eyes and well placed ears. Well developed in rib with firm top line. She has enough rear angulation and moved well behind.
2 Rutherford’s Dappledele Aurielia Rose
Lovely headed l/w girl with good neck and layback of shoulder. Well ribbed with good length and firm couplings. She is well angulated behind but did not have the confidence or positivity on the move as the winner.
3 Cox’s Cushatlaw Athena
Open (7,2)
1 Rutherford’s Sh Ch Cushatlaw Charisma of Dappledele
At 7 years is looking so well and still shows plenty of quality. Well constructed with correct angulation and well developed body giving the correct proportions and balance. She has a good head with correct stop and length of muzzle. She moved soundly and truly. Best of Breed.
2 Nixon’s Ch Quintana Lunar Eclipse
Another quality girl. Feminine and compact but still with plenty of style. Clean in outline with good reach of neck and straight front of good width. She is firm over her loins and moved straight and true. Pushed the winner hard.
3 Cox’s Cushatlaw Serendipity
German Long Haired Pointer
Puppy (2)
Two litter brothers, well bodied and showing plenty of promise.
1 Thomson’s Sarscottah Fearless Flame
Well headed boy with strong neck and nicely angulated shoulders. He has a good top line but needs to settle on the move. He carried his tail better than his brother.
2 Martin’s Sarscottah Fusilier at Lorabar
Similar but not as well developed in head or showing the extension on the move. He is well angulated and has plenty of width to his quarters. It will be interesting to see how these two develop.
Open (1)
1 Thomson’s Ir Sh Ch Sarscottah Charizma
Mature in body as expected from this 7 year old. She has a good head with width but still feminine. Strong neck of good length leads to well laid shoulders. Well ribbed body and decent quarters. She moved freely to win Best of Breed.
German Wire Haired Pointer
Puppy (2)
1 Cox’s Ijildez Vom Holstef at Ovetil
Nice size for her age. Full of quality with correctly proportioned head and a well-balanced body and good rear angulation. She moved well in profile and should have a bright future.
2 Cox’s Ida Vom Holstef at Ovetil
Smaller through than the winner here but well bodied and good bone. Should mature nicely. Moved well in tricky conditions.
Limit (1)
1 Cox’s Kenzduo Fusilli at Ovetil
20 months and a little shy today. Good length of neck with well laid shoulders and firm topline. Well off for rib and good width to the quarters. Needs to settle to show her true potential.
Open (3)
1 O’Connor’s Sh Ch Karlejay Gump Circle of Life
Best of Breed.
2 O’Connor’s Sh Ch Karlejay Gump They Live in Yu
Close decision between two five year old siblings, both worthy Champions. Both were in good body and in lovely muscular condition with plenty of bone, well developed ribs and good width to their quarters. Even though the second place moved slightly better today, I thought the winner had a better head and tail set. A close call.
3 Cox’s Hermione Vom Holstef at Ovetil
Chesapeake Bay Retrievers
Graduate (2,1)
1 Pont’s Amore of Ridsome
Two year old in good body. She has a good head with enough width and is straight in front. Balanced in body with correct top line. She has strength to her quarters and is short from hock to heel. Has a lovely strong tail. She moved easily.
Post Grad (2,1)
1 Murray’s Muireatai Teris Love
Lovely two-year-old lad in super coat and body. Broad in head with good jaws, strong neck of correct length leads to sloping shoulders. Well ribbed and has good width to his quarters with well-developed second thigh. He moved well once settled showing power and drive. Reserve BOB
Open (3)
1 Broomfield’s Glaneils Count On Me
Mature boy of four years looking better than last time I saw him and probably has even more to come. Well shaped head with good eyes and well placed ears. Strong in neck with good width to his front. Good width to his chest and firm couplings. He has good rear angulation and a correct tail. The best mover in the breed today. Best of Breed.
2 Murray’s Takota Nathan
Strong and well put together. Now a veteran but still in really good body and coat. Plenty to like here. Not the freedom and drive on the move as the winner.
3 Pont’s Sh Ch Oakmarsh Dancing Diva
Irish Water Spaniel
Puppy (2,1)
1 Foody’s Cairteila Look At Me Now
Just 6 months and so full of promise. Well grown but not overdone. Well-proportioned head with a super expression that makes you smile. Good reach of neck. Balanced in body with well-developed chest for her age. She moved well, especially in profile. BP, RBOB
Open (2)
1 Hackett and Williams’ Sh Ch Curlyco My Hot Rockstar
Well known Champion looking well and moving to advantage showing drive and holding his top line nicely. Good head with kind eyes and well placed ears of correct shape. Well angulated shoulders and good rear angulation. Inj good coat. Best of Breed.
2 Foody’s Kendenner Louisa at Cairteila
Decent three year old in good coat. Feminine head with good neck and well laid shoulders. Firm topline and good angulation behind giving a balanced outline.
Junior Handling
Catherine Chandler stood alone. Catherine is becoming a very competent handler. The latest in this family dynasty. She paid attention to my instructions and was able to fluently change hands with the lead when I stepped to one side. She moved her dog at the correct pace. A good performance.
