Merseyside Gundog Club

This well established and popular show had once more received a super entry. The experienced and well organised committee had things running well and we were able to complete all judging in good time. I was stuck for choice in some of the well filled variety classes. The final line ups were a good advert for gundog breeds.

Best In Show was Graham and Yarrow’s Brittany Sh Ch Bonapartist Pickpocket, RBIS Loynd’s HWV Sh Ch Enryb Tickled Pink. Group 3 went to my eventual BPIS Ellis’ GSP Soellis Feral Beryl and Group 4 to the Weimaraner Hill’s Weipowa Double O Seven. Best Puppy in Show was hotly contested and all four eventually placed had all previously been awarded Best of Breed and made the shortlist for Best In Show. BPIS was Soellis Feral Beryl GSP, RBPIS Weimaraner Weipowa Double O Seven, PG3 to Dawson’s Clumber Beskerby Floral Finching and PG4 to Harrison’s WSS Glenbrows Amadeus.

Well boned front with good layback of shoulder. He is well ribbed with balanced body and firm couplings. He has good width to his quarters and moved accurately here to win Best of Breed. He continued to show well and I later awarded him Best In Show.

2 Cook’s Sh Ch Highclare Only One Avec Talliside

Worthy Champion with so much to like. Lovely head with correct eye shape and well placed ears. Lovely front, elbows nicely tucked in. Short in body with correctly angulated quarters. Moved true both ways. Reserve Best of Breed.

A close decision between two quality goldens, both of whom I have admired before. Today, I just preferred this male. He has a masculine head without being overdone.
