Pointers

P (4,1a): 1 BP & PG1 O’Neill’s Tenshilling Shboom, b/w 10 months boy, took a little while to settle under the flapping marquee but once settled, his attributes were plain to see. Smart standing & moving, good bone for size, masculine, clean over the topline, lovely angulation, quality to the touch. Best mover in the class. Delighted to award him BP & PG1; 2 Westaway & Eldridge’s Bradgate Yours Truly, upstanding l/w boy, good head properties, smart & looks lovely on the stack, good bone for size, well-turned stifles. He is not as together as 1 on the move & just needs tighten through the front; 3 Robson’s Bradgate Dasher.

SP (3,1a): 1 Marsh’s Alozia Zealandia for Ratchda, l/w just over a year old, very well balanced, nothing exaggerated, clean neck into sloping shoulders, in super fit condition. Scored on movement over 2 Allen & Betts’ Hawkfield King’s Ransom, rangy o/w dog, stacks up well on tidy feet. Needs to drop down into himself which will come with maturity - only 14 months old.

L (5,3a): 1 Webb’s Tenshilling Jimmy Mack JW, best assessed on the move where he settled to show his true self. He wasn’t enjoying the miserable weather so didn’t always look his best in stack; tucking himself up & pulling forward. He won the class on his lovely movement where he relaxed with good use of his tail. Handsome head, good depth of flew & open nostrils, in good condition, when he did relax on the stack, he presented a lovely outline; 2 Robson’s Codnorhawk Dinky Stta at Bradgate, b/w bitch of nearly 5 years, pretty head, clean neck into sloping shoulders, correct turn of stifle, in lovely condition. Preferred movement of 1.

O (6,1a): 1 BOB Westaway’s Sh Ch Teisgol Keep On Going via Penwest JW, close decision between 1 & 2. Lemon/white dog, brisket down to elbow, good strength of bone through the forearms, taut through the loin, good rear angulation, in beautiful condition with well-developed thighs. He moved well & used his tail. Won the class on movement; 2 O’Neill’s Tenshilling To Sir With Love, o/w bitch, lovely outline on the stack, pretty head, feminine, good bone for size, lovely quality to her which you can feel when you go over her. Struggling with the chilly weather conditions so didn’t stride out with the conviction of 1; 3 Bird’s Droveborough’s The Gambit at Vinepoint.

Retriever (Curly Coated)

P (1): BP Clack, Eddery & Clack’s Epsilon Adhara at Molokain, liver bitch, just a few days shy of a year, stacks up lovely, feminine & yet strong with bone & substance. Lovely forechest, good ribbing. Well presented by her skilful handler – so talented.

SY (1): 1 Huckle’s Foxriever Storm Cloud, upstanding black boy of nearly 2 years, handsome head with intelligent, kind eye. He looks so strong & capable, nice to go over, correct rear angles, good coat. His tailset is a slight distraction.

L (2): 1 BOB Sutton’s Foxriever Grey Ghost, upstanding liver boy of nearly 2 years, litter brother to the SY winner. Very anatomically sound, handsome headpiece, excellent spring of rib, correct turn of stifle, well-muscled hindquarters. Not handled with the execution of 2 but he moved the better of the two today; 2 Clack’s Molokain Hocus Pocus, black bitch, stacks up lovely, brisket down to elbow, appeals in outline, good bone for size, looks strong but is still feminine. Not moving her best today which was a shame.

O (1): 1 Sutton’s Hopeall And Aats Bud Spencer (Imp), black boy of nearly 4 years, lovely forechest & shoulder angulation, appeals in head, good topline, correct rear angles. In good coat & body condition. Could have more strength through the front pasterns which were a little slack.

Not the verve of 1 on the move; 3 Richards’ Hopevalley Morning River through Kimberfield SGWC KCWGC.

O (4, 2a): 1 BOB Wilson’s Hameldowntor Music Of The Night JW, very lovely standing & moving, good to go over, feels quality, excellent ribbing, belies her 8 years, not a grey hair in sight, very smart.
