Goyt Valley Gundog Society

Breed: Open

Thank you for the invitation to judge at this friendly and well run show. I have not judged in this part of the world for a very long time so I was delighted to be invited to do so again at a gundog group show. Thank you to my lovely efficient stewards too!

Spaniel (Field)

J (1): 1 BOB Shipton’s Heartwood Mishules All Is Possible with Calico (Imp) JW, black & tan bitch with excellent balanced proportions fore & aft, lovely clean outline with excellent topline. Nice to go over, but a little heavy over the shoulders upon examination. Elbows close to chest wall, lovely shine & gloss on her coat, good turn of stifle. Lovely disposition – happy soul. Thought she was a smart bitch.

L (2,1a): 1 H Mishules All Is Possible with C.

O (3,2a): 1 Shipton’s Broomeece Fire Cracker over Mishules, black dog of 4 years, good bone for size, well balanced fore & aft with correct turn of stifle. A little heavy over the shoulders & ribs today & I preferred the topline of his kennel mate for BOB.

Spaniel (Sussex)

L (1): 1 Davey’s Eald Stands With Fist, lively bitch of 2 years, very sweet disposition, pretty head & excellent eyes, feminine, in taut muscular condition. Good strength through the pelvic limbs. She does not have the lovely topline of her kennel mate.

O (1): 1 BOB & RBIS Davey’s Sh Ch Eald Village Scandal JW, lovely quality bitch, appeals standing & moving, quality to go over with pretty head & good eyes, good depth of chest, elbows tight to chest wall, good ribbing & coat, strength through the rear pasterns. Excellent over the topline. Delighted she went RBIS.

Spaniel (Cocker)

P (8, 4a): 1 BP Tavernor’s Regaltav Valentina, blue roan of 7 months, stood out standing & moving, good head properties, appeals in outline – compact, nice to go over, good topline, correct rear angles; 2 Tavernor’s Cassom Dancing Queen at Regaltav, blue roan nearing 12 months, not as co-operative for her handler but I liked her. She was lovely to go over, chunkier than 1, lovely outline & was in good condition with a pretty head. Needs to sort out her steering on the move but she has time; 3 Sherlock’s Crimicar Dreamchaser.

J (9, 4a): 1 BOB Eisen’s Kerriglow Black Dove, black bitch of nearly 16 months, stood out both standing & moving, she has a lovely neck into shoulders – a smooth transition, good topline & texture to coat, well balanced fore & aft & illustrated good drive on the move with a merry action of the tail; 2 Pendlebury’s Chataway New Beginning at Sandabys, black bitch of 14 months, appeals standing with good topline, pretty head with square muzzle, brisket down to elbow, correct turn of stifle. Moved well. Just needs to firm up in body condition with age; 3 C Dancing Queen at Regaltav.

L (9, 3a): K Black Dove; 2 Jones’ Oktumi Star Chaser, blue roan dog of 3 years, smart boy, everything is in proportion & balanced, he is nice go over with good ribs, correct topline, in lovely body & coat condition, moved co-ordinately; 3 Mason’s Leechbaby Hot Shoe Shuffle to Sandlauga.

O (6): 1 Mason’s Sandlauga Soul Man, veteran golden boy of 7 years with the joie de vivre & attitude of a much younger dog – lovely to see. Presents a pleasing picture standing, nice to go over, correct texture to coat, good rear angulation. Won the class on his movement – has good stride in side gait & a merry tail in action. Congratulations on his BVIS; 2 Morris’ Riondel Blu Savana, blue roan bitch of 3 years, good bone for size, balanced fore & aft, preferred topline & movement of 1; 3 Bradbury’s Kyna Crystal Clear.
