Thank you for the invitation to judge at this well run show. Weather wise, there was light drizzle for most of the day, but being gundogs, I opted to stay outside rather than be in the confines of the equestrian arena.
I would like to thank my steward, Hannah Bouttell, for keeping the ring running smoothly.
Irish Setter
Y (1): 1 Mason’s Cataluna Mad About You in Finity, 18 months bitch, clean neck into sloping shoulders, polished outline, good bend of stifle. She has a nice side gait but is very raw at present & needs time to mature.
O (1): 1 BOB Clarke’s Covarney Dream Time from Bronrians JW, mature bitch of 3 ½ years, appeals standing with a good outline, clean neck into sloping shoulders, lovely forechest, in good condition & presented faultlessly.
Retriever (Labrador)
P (3, 1a): 1 BP Watkins’ Saranden Be True, yellow bitch, she didn’t show as well as perhaps she could but felt she presented the best outline & I liked her balance. Strong level topline, correct bend of stifles with rear pasterns vertical to the ground, moved ok; 2 Perkins’ Keeninspires Countess, chocolate bitch, good topline with balanced angulation fore & aft, a little finer boned than 1 & not so co-ordinated on the move as 1.
SY (4): 1 BOB Goodwin’s Mcfarwin’s Flashing Lights, yellow bitch, stood out in the line-up with flowling lines. Feminine head, tidy round feet, excellent spring of rib, good rear angulation & muscled thighs. Moved well; 2 Evans’ Trendlewood Long Time Comin at Pudleigh, yellow dog, scored on movement, good rear angles & rear pasterns vertical to the ground. He is quite heavy through the neck & shoulders at present; 3 Foster’s Rochevale Beal.
G (1): 1 Perkins’ Mcfarwin’s Grey Legacy by Keeninspires, yellow dog who was quite full on to handle today & gave his handler a hard time. Appealing head, good spring of rib, correct bend of stifle. Good coat. Needs to settle.
PG (2): 1 M Grey Legacy by Keeninspires; 2 Goodwin’s Carpenny Frieda, clean topline, correct turn of stifle, good spring of rib. Needs to get her head up on the move & would prefer a better tail carriage in motion.
O (3): A hard class to judge, there must have been something in the air as they were all proving a little hard work for their handlers! 1 Wallace’s Tiaja Love In The Sun, yellow dog with strong bone, won the class on movement. Strong level topline, brisket down to elbow, correct turn of stifle; 2 Perkins’ Keeninspires News Flash, yellow bitch with feminine head, has a lovely outline but went off so quickly on the move she was hard to assess, which was a shame. Good coat; 3 M Grey Legacy By K.
Spaniel (Cocker)
P (1): 1 BP & PG4 Hansen’s Jourdelay’s Geraldine, bitch of 7 months, good head properties, good bone for size, could be a little more compact in body length but moved really well with drive & merry enthusiasm.
SY (1): 1 J Geraldine.
PG (5,1a): 1 Rofe’s Villaspaniol Gold Flash, golden dog, presents a lovely outline, good pigment, in lovely body & coat condition, clean over the topline & moved well. Tad heavy in the head & dewlap; 2 Hutchison’s Kasordon Maid Of Fire, b/t bitch, pretty head, good bone for size, preferred the transition of neck into shoulder & topline of 1; 3 Hansen’s Comedy Club.
O (5, 1a): 1 BOB Rofe’s Villaspaniol Sunny Delight, excitable golden dog, appeals both standing & moving with good ribbing, correct bend of stifle. Moved well with merry action of the tail. In lovely coat condition; 2 Comedy Club, b/w bitch, good topline & balanced angles fore & aft, moved well; 3 J Geraldine.
Spaniel (English Springer)
SP (2): 1 Hydon’s Loxbourne Hustle And Bustle, lovely to go over, appeals standing & moving, excellent muscle condition, taut to the touch, scores on movement, rear pasterns vertical to the ground. Very smart.
O (1): 1 BOB & G4 Taubman’s Meltarose Madeleine at Meonstoke, mature bitch of 4 years, pretty head with good depth of muzzle, good strength of bone through the forearms, clean topline, correct turn of stifle, moved & handled well. In lovely condition.
AVNSC Gundog
P (5): 1 BP Rose’s Piccorino Pheasant Plucker, Bracco Italiano, chestnut roan boy of nearly 12 months, really smart stacked up & looks all boy, good oval bone through the forearms, good rear angulation & side gait. Needs to strengthen through the rear pasterns; 2 Hewett’s Blue Jewel’s Garvin (Imp), Irish Water Spaniel, sweet natured, mischievous glint in the eye, needs time to drop down into his frame & fill out.
SP (5, 4a): 1 Carpenter’s Aschfahl Kepanye, elegant Weimaraner male, clean outline, brisket down to elbow, lovely tight feet, in lovely muscular condition, nice to go over. Needs space to get into his stride.
PG (4): 1 BAVNSC Pearson’s Braccorions You Can Conquer, Bracco Italiano, orange, smart boy standing, correct divergent planes of the head, brisket down to elbow, correct rear angulation; 2 Walden’s Taramount Golden Ticket, buff American Cocker Spaniel, in such lovely condition & well presented. Clean neck into shoulders, good rear angulation. Moved well; 3 A Kepanye.
O (2): 1 A Kepanye.
AV Gundog

Quality bitch; 2 Challis’ Vizslanya Domenkos, Hungarian Vizsla, good neck into shoulders, clean over the topline, moved well on the equestrian floor. Needs to tighten in front.
SY (10, 8a): 1 A Kepanye, Weimaraner; 2 T Long Time Comin, Retriever (Labrador).
PG (8,4a): 1 Henson’s Cinderbank Move It JW, Retriever (Golden), masculine boy strong through the forearms, holds his topline well, brisket down to elbow, well presented; 2 Cardiff’s Freebreeze Pixar at Prosperity, o/w Pointer bitch, standing she was cold & could be overlooked but that all changed when she moved – she really came alive & relaxed & I could see her qualities. Pretty head, clean neck into shoulders, well-muscled quarters; 3 Parkin’s Keepersfield Simone, Pointer.
Sp V (7-9 Years) (9): 1 BV Nevers’ Tivalake Easy To Love at Sheldrake AWB, clear winner, lovely quality, nice to go over, pretty slight wedge shaped head, good angulation, moved & handled well; 2 Challis’ Highforce Future Legend for Vizslanya JW ShCex VW, masculine boy, good front angulation & corresponding rear, moved well; 3 Waller’s Isfryn Lady Godiva at Fireglow JW VW, WSS.
Sp V (10+ Years) (5, 2a): 1 Challis’ Sh Ch Tarafield Anya Panni by Vizslanya JW VW, quality bitch, feminine, appeals in outline with strength over the topline & good underline, good spring of rib, moved well. Still got it; 2 Walden’s Geenawell Gilmore Girl for Taramount, buff American Cocker Spaniel, put in a great performance & made her presence felt, clean neck into shoulders, correct turn of stifle, very well presented; 3 Brooksmith’s Nightgold Pipkin.
Gundog Group
G1 & RBIS Harper’s Piswarren Jiko, Hungarian Vizsla, lovely quality bitch of just 15 months, really together, appeals standing with lovely clean topline & balanced angles fore & aft. It was on the move where she really dazzled, beautiful ground covering stride. Should do well on sheer quality. Delighted she went RBIS.
G2 Nevers’ Tollelkin Dream Cove at Sheldrake JW, another quality NSDTR with this handler/owner. Lovely to go over. Stood out both standing & moving.
G3 Brooksmith’s Millpoint Golden Pippin JW, o/w Pointer bitch, lovely quality, good bone for size, retains femininity, curvy in outline, well-muscled quarters. Smart.
G4 Taubman’s Meltarose Madeleine at Meonstoke, ESS, still giving her all in a quality Group.
