East of Scotland Canine Club

Open show Sunday 3rd March 2024

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your well-run open show. It was a great venue that everyone seemed to enjoy. Thank you also to my two lovely stewards for a great job looking after the ring and my exhibitors.

I had a lovely entry of quality hounds to go over and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Thank you to my exhibitors who allowed me to judge your wonderful dogs and accept my decisions on the day. It was nice to see all exhibitors supporting each other in the classes.

All temperaments were excellent and I was pleased with bites across the board, and in respect to Ridgebacks all ridges were acceptable.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Junior 4

1. Rottzridge Celtic Legend At Kotamury, Thomson, Miss G; A youngster of 11mths who took it all in his stride. Kind, round eye with nice expression and good head proportions. Good length of neck and nice front assembly. Good turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Confident with his handler, he moved well and covered the ground around the ring, straight coming and going.

2. Jimanns Hell On Heels, Ritchie, Mrs J; A nice bitch with feminine and kind expression. Good stop and earset. Clean neck, good infill of forechest, strong bone with good feet. Good spring of rib with good rear angulation and muscle. Shown in good condition and moved out well.

I just preferred the type and qualities of my winner in this class.

Level topline that he maintained on the move, a strong loin into well muscled hindquarters, well defined 1st and 2nd thigh. Shown in hard condition. 2. Negasi Elberith For Clanbruachan, Jolly, Mrs N; a well balanced, quality bitch. She is maturing nicely since I last judged her in 2023. She is a lovely overall shape, clean neck leading into a nicely angulated front, good bone and tight feet. Strong topline with good tailset.
