Thank you very much to the committee for inviting me to judge GSPs at this lovely show. I had some very nice examples to judge and a good entry. Thanks to my able stewards for doing a stellar job keeping the ring running smoothly.

Puppy (1)

1st Laird’s Navigareamor Gybe Ho - Exuberant youngster of just 6 months, both her and her handler enjoying their first show together. Both got more confident in the ring as the class went on. A very raw baby as expected at this age but plenty of time on her side to develop and mature well. Nice shape and size. Pretty head with feminine expression, clean skull, good length of muzzle. Eyes of good shape, size and set, high set ears. Enough neck into a decent front assembly, straight forelegs of good bone. Chest still to develop. Ribs well sprung and carried well back. Sound hindquarters with angles matching that of her fore. Moved well once settled. BPIB.

Junior (4, 2abs)

1st Maclean & McClenaghen Richtig Ritz Fizz - Nice young bitch of good proportions. Good size with a tidy outline. Lovely head and expression, very feminine, broad, slightly round skull, muzzle of good length and depth, clean lip. Expressive eyes, well set and of good size, colour harmonising with coat and giving soft expression. Broad, high set ears with rounded tips. Enough neck into a nice lay of shoulder, forelegs straight and strong with quality bone, tight, well padded feet. Chest still to develop slightly as expected at this age. In good muscular condition throughout, ribs well sprung and carried well back, solid topline kept at all times. Short, taut loin. Hindquarters well muscled with balanced read angles matching her forequarters. Moved soundly.

2nd Thomson’s Sarscottah Enchanted - Presents a lovely outline when stacked. Head of good proportions, broad skull with slight rounding, proportionate muzzle of good length and depth, lips finishing cleanly. Eyes well set in her pretty face, good colour and shape. Correct earset, broad and hanging close to head. Good reach of neck, slightly arched and fitting into well laid shoulders, good chest. Forelegs well boned. Muscular body with good spring of rib carried well back, strong loin. Hindquarters muscular with well bent stifles and low set parallel hocks. Not as tidy in front movement as 1st today, moved ok.

1st Tait’s Benboee Beeloved - 2 year old bitch presenting a balanced outline. Of good size and type. In excellent body condition throughout. Feminine expression, proportionate head, slightly rounded skull with good breadth, clean skull with slightly raised nasal bone, muzzle strong and of good length, well developed clean lip. Medium sized eyes well placed in her skull, good shape and colour giving such a pleasing expression. Reachy neck flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders, forelegs straight and of quality bone, good depth of chest, compact strong, straight feet. Fit body, well muscled with good spring of rib carried well back, short, broad, muscular loin. Hindquarters muscular and well rounded with good bend to stifles. Moved soundly fore and aft with balanced profile movement.

Open (5, 3abs)

1st Tait’s Benboee Beelieve - 2 year old bitch and litter sister to 1st in the previous class with lots of similar qualities. Well balanced outline, shapely and of good size and in good hard muscle condition throughout. Beautiful head, clean cut, broad skull, correct rise to nasal bone, strong muzzle of good length and depth, well developed lips. Eyes of medium size, fitting her face well, correct shape and colour harmonising with coat colour. Ears set high, broad with round tips hanging close to her pretty head. Muscular neck of good length, slightly arched and fitting seamlessly into a sound front assembly. Well developed chest. Forelegs straight with strong bone. In excellent body condition, well ribbed back with good spring, short, taut loin, broad. Correct topline. Well rounded rear, muscular with well bent stifles and low set parallel hocks. Moved effortlessly with balanced reach and drive, tidy movement coming and going. BOB

2nd McCafferty’s Thorscrag Hades JW - A handsome male who I have judged previously and admired. He was very unlucky to meet 1st today on such top form. He also presents a pleasing outline, slightly taller than 1st but still balanced. Another in good hard, muscular condition. Handsome head of correct proportions, broad skull, muzzle of good length, pronounced slightly rising nasal bone. Lips fitting cleanly. Lovely reach of neck into well laid shoulders, a well developed chest, forelegs strong and straight with quality bone. Compact, strong feet. Well muscled body, ribs well sprung and carried well back, short, muscular loin broad and strong. Solid topline. Hindquarters sound and well muscled propelling him well on the move. Moved soundly from all angles.
