Thame & Oxfordshire County Canine Society

Thame & Oxfordshire County Canine Society Premier Open Show

Wednesday 17th July 2024.

German Shorthaired Pointer

My sincere thanks to the society for giving me the chance to judge GSP’s, although quantity wasn’t high the quality definitely was. Thank you to the exhibitors for allowing me the privilege to go over your dogs. It was a very hot day so I was so pleased that Julie and Penny my stewards kept things running so smoothly.

PUPPY (2)

1. MISS L. WILSON, SEASHAM HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE. A lovely 9-month-old bitch nothing overdone, correct head planes. Nice eyes giving off a true gsp expression lovely and feminine. Ears well set, gentle arch to neck leading to correct withers and a very nice angled front, this showed when you watched her move with some lovely front extension. Lovely topline held well when stacked and whilst on the move. Correct slope of croup leading to good tail set, she had moderate rear angulation. Fantastic condition with the best of coat texture. BP & RBOB just lost out in the run off due to movement & maturity of the older Limit winner.

2. MRS S. A. EDLIN, MISTCAPEL STORM SHADOW. A young dog that made his handler work really hard to get the best out of him, he had a nice head with good length of muzzle. At this age eyes a little light which is to be expected but given time they should darken, ear set correct. Had good bone with nothing coarse or overdone, Adequate fore chest for his age, straight front with correct pasterns & nice feet. Deep chest with a good spring to rib. Didn’t quite have the angulation of the winner, when he got himself together, he had some nice rear drive.

SPECIAL YEARLING (2, 1a)

1. SEASHAM HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE. 1st in Puppy

LIMIT (2, 1a)

1. MRS S. A. EDLIN, GRAYGEES TSARINE. A very well constructed bitch full of gsp type, moderate angulation throughout. Super head to muzzle ratio with the correct depth, eye colour just right. This all showed to give off a lovely feminine expression, strong neck leading to correctly angled front. If I was knit picking I would like to have seen the handler drawing those front legs back under her a tad, so you could see upper arm & nicely muscled legs with spot on pasterns shown to best advantage. Saying that she could not be denied top honours. Lovely muscled 1st & 2nd thigh completing the picture for me. Didn’t quite move her best in this class but pulled all the stops out in the runoff, her front extension and rear driving action was what I was looking for. Such a lovely girl. BOB.
