CRITIQUE FOR GOLDEN RETRIEVERS I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge at this show and to my steward David for his help in keeping the ring running smoothly. Puppy: 3 (Abs1) 1. Porter – Shearstone Janner - Mid gold puppy in good coat. I found a very balanced puppy with attractive head and excellent pigmentation, giving a kind expression. He has plenty of bone together with a level topline and tailset and well sprung ribs. Sturdy front with correct length of shoulder, together with close fitting elbows. Correct front and rear angulation which he used to advantage when moving around the ring. Best Puppy 2. Smyth – Kadaka Krumpet – Another well put together puppy. A short coupled golden girl in full coat. She has a feminine head, dark eye and nose which gives her a lovely expression. The neck flows into well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. She presented a well balanced picture with correct angulation front and rear. She moved out very nicely with her owner, but the winning puppy just had the edge on movement. Graduate: 9 (Abs 1) 1. Clunie – Warrantor Nohkalikai JW - Dark gold bitch, with attractive head and kind expression. Very well made, giving a balanced picture. She has plenty of bone and is well up on her pasterns with correct feet. Short coupled with well sprung deep ribs and close fitting elbows. Correct front and rear angulation which she used to advantage when moving around the ring. BOB 2. Coad – Tinklersroc Bon Bon – Strong and well muscled dark golden boy in full gleaming coat. Masculine head without coarseness giving a kind expression. Clean muscular neck of good length and flowing into level topline and tailset. Well laid clean shoulders together with good depth of ribs and well off for bone. Good angulation front and rear and although moved confidently around the ring, he didn’t move quite as well as the winner. Limit: 8 (Abs 5) 1. Henson – Cinderbank Move It JW – Attractive mid-gold handsome boy. Gorgeous head with kind expression. A good reach of neck set into well placed shoulders. Well sprung ribcage with level topline and correct tailset. Straight front and has plenty of heart room. Good angulation front and rear. Good bone, neat tight feet with well let down hocks, which allowed him to move well. Not quite as short coupled, but I was pleased to award him RBOB. 2. Coad – Tinklersroc Bon Bon Open: 5 (3) 1. Clunie – Warrentor Bold As Brass JW - Rich golden mature dog who presented a very balanced picture. Well off for bone. Masculine head with very kind expression. Straight front. Short coupled with a good depth of body. Good angulation front and rear. Although he gave his handler a hard time today, his overall balance and movement gave him the class. 2. Pike – Trebell Thea Into Enthral – Cream bitch with good outline and attractive head and kind expression. Short coupled with level topline and tailset Good front angulation and correctly placed hocks. Moved happily with her owner around the ring. Christine Prowse
