Whippets

As a last minute replacement judge, id like to thank all the exhibitors for still coming and allowing me to have the pleasure of going over some brilliant dogs.

Puppy

1) Wilton-Clarke, Shalfleet Oliver Twist, 10 month, fawn bridle male. This young male caught my eye straight away. His outline just screamed whippet, I loved his overall balance and flowing lines. He had a beautiful head with well set rose like ears. Dark oval eye. Strong muscular neck leading into well placed shoulders. Nice depth of chest, tight elbows. Good length of rib, fabulous topline with a slight rise over the loin, tapering away at the croup. Good tuck up. Well muscled all through standing parallel at the rear with nicely let down hocks. Good length of tail. He moved true coming and going with a lovely daisy cutting action and just flowed around the ring in profile. BOB & BPIB

2) Wells, Selinko Stargazer. 7 month old black male. Another pup with lots to like. His overall shape was good, and in balance. He had a good head with dark eye. He did have a tendency to fly his ears but Id put this down to age. Good length of neck. Shoulder placement was good and his depth of chest was ok. When settled he moved well.

Post Graduate

1) Rainsbury, Shalfleet Chasing The Sun. 22 month blue brindle male. Another with a well proportioned overall shape. Lovely head and expression, good length of neck. Shoulder placement was ok. He did lack a little fore chest for me. Strong topline with good tuck up. Well angulated rear which he used well on the move.

2) Reece, Saleehah Stardancer, fawn bridle bitch who was set on a smaller frame. I liked her for size, she had a good head with well set ears. Good length of neck which flowed into nice shoulders. More of a level top line rather than a slight rise over the loin for me. And wasn’t as tidy as 1 on the move today.

Limit

1) Wilton-Clarke, Shalfleet Easter Sonnet JW. Brindle & white parti coloured bitch. Much to like about this little bitch. Very much what I would call ‘old school type’. Lovely head with nice dark eye. Lovely length of neck, good shoulder placement and depth of chest. Good top line with the slight rise over the loin. Good tuck up. Well muscled and moved very true coming and going.

Open

1) Wilton-Clarke, Shalfleet Chasing The Wind JW, Brindle male. Again another great example from this kennel. Balanced male, lovely head and expression. Ears of good size and set well. Muscular neck of good length. Lovely front assemble with good shoulder placement. Stood on nice tight feet. Good top line and tuck up. Well muscled and moved well. RBOB

2) Reece, Salheehah Moonflower, 5 year old fawn brindle bitch. A little longer cast than id prefer. She had a pretty head and expression. Nice dark eye. Good lay of shoulder and god top line. Enough tuck up. Good tail set. Well muscled rear. Stood parallel with strong hocks

Veteran

1) Rainsbury, Shalfleet Sir Tom JW ShCM, Brindle & white male of 8 years old. Unfortunately today he seemed a little tense on the stack so seemed to hold him self a bit roached. I liked his balance and he did have a good lay of shoulder and front assemble. tuck up was good. Very well muscled for an older dog. He really came together on the move and seemed to settle and loosen up. He flowed and moved with lovely reach and drive. BV
