Thank you to the society for the kind invitation to judge at this premier open show and thank you to my efficient stewards in both rings. The flooring could be quite slippy at times so not always able to see dogs moving at their best.

SPANIEL (AMERICAN COCKER)

POST GRADUATE (0,0)

OPEN (2,1)

1st and BOB. Walsh’s Kenzduo Juniper at Pippaway 2 year old dog. Lovely head of correct proportions. Eyebrows and stop well defined. Ears well set on and of correct length. Good shoulder angulation with well sprung ribs and deep chest. Short coupled. Coat well presented , but would of liked clearer tan markings. Good rear angulation , moved well.

SPANIEL (WELSH SPRINGER)

PUPPY(2,1)

1st and Best Puppy. Gaylor and Robertson’s Gilstonia Run Red Rum for Aprilflash promising 6 month old puppy who was happy and confident. Well balanced head with defined stop, chiselling beneath the eyes. Clean throat into good shoulder placement, well sprung ribs for his age and hindquarters developing nicely. Round , cat like feet. Coat of a lovely colour and texture. Babyish in movement as I would expect at this age and with the challenge of a slippy floor.

1st. Wallington’s. Ferndel Renzo at Rovinjdal. 15month old dog. Promising young dog, lovely head and expression, well set ears. Well boned, with correct length of leg. Good width of thigh and well muscled for age. Hocks well let down, moved well with good tail set. Coat well presented and of correct texture. Just giving a lot away in maturity for challenge.

POST GRADUATE (2,1)

1st Whitfield’s Glenbrows Thought to Amberdella. 23 month old bitch, nice head with eyes of correct colour and good ear set. Clean and muscular neck into a lovely shoulder and front. Brisket developing but stil needs to mature. Good width of thigh , hindlegs well boned. Moved well but would like slightly tighter feet.

1st and BOB. Whitfield’s Glenbrows Heart to Heart. Mature 8 year old bitch. Balanced head with defined stop , eye colour good and ears set on well. Good strong clean neck into well laid shoulder, deep brisket and ribs well sprung as you would expect with maturity. Liked her length of body to leg length proportions. Good width of second thigh with well let down hocks. Carried her tail correctly on the move,. Would have preferred a slightly silkier coat.

2nd and RBOB. Stevenson’s Mymmsbrook Matador with Blytheway JW. 3 year old well presented male, lovely head and expression. Clean muscular throat in to well laid shoulders. Hindquarters well muscled and good width of thigh. Moved well but a little proud of his tail on the move Pushed 1 hard for BOB

1st and BOB. Speck’s Sarscottah Du Specktacular. Elegan,t but powerfully built young bitch. Correct head proportions, deep enough flews, eyes of a good colour. Ear leathers good and well feathered. Muscular neck into well placed shoulders, correct back line, but yet to fill out in body, which I am sure she will do with maturity. Lovely well arched feet. Moved well. Lovely solid brown coat presented in good condition. Well worthy of her BOB

1st and BOB. Turnbull and Kean’s Glenquin The Colonel at Elagram. Super 16 month old powerful looking dog, has great ring presence. Head of correct proportions , with moderate stop good eye colour. Strong powerful neck into excellent forequarters with sufficient bone. Well sprung rib and firm backline. Very well muscled hindquarters giving him excellent movement. Coat of correct texture and with good furnishings on eyebrows and beard.

1st and RBOB. Turnbull’s Kimmax Two Kan Play at Elagram 3 year old bitch of good breed type Very nice head and expression with correct eye colour. Strong neck into well laid shoulders firm topline Moved well and pushed hard for BOB

HUNGARIAN VIZLA

Thank you to the Vizla exhibits for a lovely entry in both numbers and quality. Lovely to go over so many fit for function , well conditioned dogs.

PUPPY(6,2)

1st and Best Puppy. Challis Vizslanya Domenkos. 11 month old dog. Super, well balanced youngster. Nice lean head with moderate stop. Ears correctly set. Lovely strong neck, no obvious dewlap, well laid shoulders, back was level and short sufficient depth of chest for age. Hocks well let down , moved very well for his age.

2nd Mellish’s Vizslanya Vulkani. 7 month dog many of the same comments as 1, a very promising puppy giving a lot away in maturity, but having lovely bone and substance and correct angulation fore and aft and again moved well for one so young.

3rd Gammon’s Glenbrows Reminiscent .

1st Senior’s Oakswarren Feel the Heat at Alazsdale. 17 month old dog. Correct balance to head lean and with defined median line. Strong muscular arched neck, super front assembly with prominent breastbone, well muscled throughout. Moderate angulation to rear, moved well.

2nd Challis’s Vizslanya Valor. 7 month old dog. Giving a lot away in age to the winner, but pushed hard in the challenge for best puppy, particularly liked his head and expression, lovely front and body, just needs to mature

3rd Gregory’s Sevensden Autumnal Gold

POST GRADUATE (5, 2)

1st and RBOB. Dolman’s Zebec Charmed Spirit. 3 year old bitch. Well muscled bitch, lovely head

 and expression with correct eye shape and colour , defined median line. Strong neck , no dewlap. Good front , prominent forechest, chest broad and deep , back level and shorter in body than 2. moderate rear angulation tight well rounded feet , moved well

2nd Mellish’sVizslanya Manya. 3year old bitch. Good head, but preferred the balance and ear set of 1, well laid shoulders with tight elbows. Backline short and level, less tuck up than 1 but carrying slightly more weight. Moderate angulation to the rear, moved well.

3rd Gammon’s Glenbrows Reminiscent

1st and BOB Dolman’s Zebec Frankel 3 year old dog. Mature, well balanced dog, clean , lean, head well chiselled , defined median line, eyes of a good colour giving correct expression. Strong muscular neck and excellent well laid shoulders which showed in his movement. Body was short , well muscled with obvious forechest and just enough tuck up. Hocks were well let down and correct moderate rear angulation. Would like slightly tighter feet. Moved very well with elegance.

2nd Senior’s Nemzet Kincse Ipa of Alazsdale (imp Hun. Very smart young man coming up for 2 , he certainly made his handler work hard,. Again good head and expression , well put together all over , would have liked slightly more rear angulation, but hard to assess on this slippy floor. Good tight feet. Moved well once he settled.

1st and BOB. Burdett’s Starshot Maverick. 19 month old dog. Needs to carry more weight to show to advantage. Skull a little too broad and a deeper in stop than I would like. Ears correctly set and of correct length. Well laid shoulders with slightly sloping pasterns, decent bone but needs to tighten in feet. He had a good coat , with correct furnishings and moved well.
