RETRIEVERS (LABRADOR)

Puppy (7, 3 ABSENT) Excellent class of promising puppies

1st Thompson’s Meadowline Jurisprudence. 10 month old black bitch. Lovely head and expression, eyes of correct colour, ears well set on and used to advantage. Clean powerful neck set in to well laid shoulders and good front assembly. Lovely deep chest with well sprung rib, back short with strong loin. Well let down hocks and good width of thigh. Moved well.

2nd Logan’s Madgack Marshmallow Minocqua. 8 month old black dog puppy. Very promising and of a lovely type, just losing out to the winner as she was more mature in body. Lovely head, right for his age, but more to come as he develops. Strong clean neck into well laid shoulders. Good deep chest and ribs well sprung. Coat of a good texture. Moved very well , keeping a good top-line .

3rd Smiths Binnaig Sea Barnacle on Flyenpig.

Junior (6,4 absent)

1st Baron’s Landebec Ventura. 8 month old yellow dog. Loveliest of male heads with correct eye colour and ear set giving a typical gentle expression. Showing to advantage , he had a good front assembly and back short and level with good spring of rib, Decent hindquarters with stifles well turned. Free mover keeping a good top-line

2nd Smith’s Binnaig Sea Barnacle on Flyenpig. 8 month old yellow dog , Full of promise , but giving his handler a hard time as he is so full of himself. Good head and expression , slight stop, clean cut and well balanced. Strong powerful neck , just preferred the front of the first. Deep chest with well sprung rib but tends to overstretch himself when stood and looses his topline. Just needs a little maturity and to settle to the job in hand.

Post Graduate (12, 7absent)

1st and RBOB Proctor’s Lejie Sugar Almond at Penkaric 2 and half Year old Yellow bitch. Not flashy but a good honest typical Labrador of a type I remember when I was showing the breed. She is beautifully balanced . Very feminine head with slight stop, eyes of a good colour and size , ears well placed. Clean neck into the best of shoulders with legs well under her. Good depth of chest short coupled with a strong loin. Excellent hindquarters , hocks well let down which enabled her to move well. Good otter tail and correct coat.

2nd Gowers Deniangill Scarlet Ribbons at Aughtonchase 20 month old bitch. Pushed 1 hard and many of the same comments apply, Just felt my first was cleaner in head giving a slightly better expression. Good shoulder placement with correct strength and balance in the body. Moved well.

3rd Evan’s Dolphingham Django Unchained to Evesmore (imp It).

1st Best Puppy and Best of Breed Smith’s Flyenpyg Jurgenn Chopp JW. 11 month old Black male. Made the best of himself and skilfully handled. He had the best head in the class – slight stop , clean cut , medium sized hazel eyes showing intelligence. Clean strong and powerful neck in to well laid shoulders. Strong across the loin and excellent top-line which he kept on the move. Stifles well turned and hocks well let down. Lovely to watch on the move and this was why he went on to beat the older dogs in the challenge for BOB. Will follow his progress with interest .

2nd Gower’s Aughtonchase Honey Pie. Smart 5 year oldyellow bitch with a lovely head and expression. Good strong neck , but would prefer more return of upper arm , well balanced in the body , Good correct double coat and typical otter tail Moved well

3rd Baron’s Mariank Vanity Fair at Landbec

Puppy (5,4 ABSENT)

1st and Best Puppy Riley’s Wylloh Paddington Bear 11 month old puppy. Lacking a bit of confidence in the ring. Head needing to develop with maturity , correct scissor bite , good front assembly, but quite hard to assess him in the body as he really didn’t want to settle to the job. Saw enough on the move to be able to award him best puppy. Hope he goes on to settle and gain in confidence along with his handler.

1st Gannaway Jones’s Siwrengale Sails into Scarisbrick, 22 month old,very feminine bitch. Sadly her coat was on the blow but that didn’t detract from her good construction. Well balanced head that is well chiselled giving her a lovely expression. Ears of a moderate size set on level with the eye . Good length of neck set in to well laid shoulders – this is were she scored over the second dog. Ribs deep and well sprung and short coupled. Tail well set. Could be slightly more positive in front when coming towards you.

2nd Mizen’s Tenfield Sword of State at Yearninggild. 17 month old dog in good coat, masculine head but well balanced. Hind quarters were strong and muscular but would have preferred him to be shorter and stronger in loin to complete the picture.

1st and BOB Millington’s Golams Guard of Honour at Jarabees. Mature 3 year old male in full, beautifully presented, coat. Head of correct proportions and balance. His neck was muscular and of good length but felt it could be slightly cleaner. Won the class and BOB on his excellent front assembly which showed on the move. He is balanced and short coupled in body with ribs deep and well sprung. Kept his topline standing and moving. Powerful on the move.

2nd and RBOB Gannaway Jones’s Scarasbrick Snowflake. 3 year old bitch. Pushed 1 hard for BOB ,as feminine as he is masculine. Many of the same comments apply. Lovely head and expression, cleaner in neck than the dog. Good front assembly but could be stronger in her pasterns which affected her front movement. Hind quarters were well muscled and hocks well let down . A nice bitch.

1st Goldings Whenova Pampero 15 month old bitch. Needs more maturity but has correct wedge shaped head and broad slightly rounded skull. Eyes of the correct size and colour with flesh coloured pigmentation to eye rims and nose. Triangular dropped ear, well feathered at back. Shoulders well laid back but now needs the maturity to drop in to her chest and complete the picture. Correct Toller movement , Colour and coat texture good , but lacking a little, again am sure this will come with maturity.

1st Brand’s Coedhelyg Jingle all the Way RBOB . 4 year old male of a mahogany colour. Won this class on his maturity compared to the young bitch. His head of is a good shape and his ears well set medium length strong neck into decent forequarters. Body more developed and mature than 2, felt hocks could be slightly better let down. Moved well and happily. Lovely coat with correct white markings.

2nd Golding’s Whenova Pampero Repeat

1st and BOB Golding’s Kymin va va Voom Avec Whenova. 6 year old mature bitch with lovely correct head and expression. Good pigmentation to nose and eye . Neck strong and well muscled into shoulders that were well laid back, deep chest and well sprung rib. Felt she could be slightly shorter in loin. Hindquarters well let down ,correct feet, Tail well feathered and reaching to hock. Coat of good colour and texture with correct white markings.

1st and BOB Davie’s – Brown Gunalt Polished at Wystry. 2 year old dog. Sadly stood alone but well worthy of his BOB. Long aristocratic head with correct expression , moderate stop and clean flews. Moderately long clean neck into well laid shoulder that were well muscled, forelegs were well boned and straight and strong. Correct ratio of length to height but he needs to develop to fill his frame to complete the picture but should come with maturity. Hindquarters were well muscled. Coat of correct colour and texture. He came alive on the move , moving very well and looking fit for function.
