Rhodesian Ridgeback

Thank you to the Officers and committee for the kind invitation to judge at your wonderful show. I had a fantastic entry of ridgebacks and thanks must also go to The Rhodesian Ridgeback club of Scotland for the supported entry.

Sadly, the floor was too slippy for the ridgebacks and apologies to the exhibitors that I didn’t make them move a great deal to show off the graceful movement of our hounds but having had a dog slip in a ring and never manage to get them over the fear I decided that I was not prepared to risk an injury to either dog or exhibitor. All mouths and ridges were acceptable so have not mentioned further.

1st Jolly’s Priorpark William Wallace for Clanbruachan – 11-month-old male with lots to like. Well placed ears framing a good head and a strong neck for his age. Good return of upper arm and good bone to the forelegs. Good depth of chest with good spring of rib. Looks a little long in loin but can be forgiven for his age as still a lot of maturing and developing to do. Good tail set and nice compact feet. BPIB

Post Graduate 7 (4)

1st Mulholland, Cunningham & Cunningham’s Walamadengie Heart throb – 15 ½ month old handsome male. Good depth of muzzle and lovely eye set, broad skull with ears nicely framing the head. Good strong neck with a nice clean front. Shown in good condition overall. Good depth to his chest and powerful back and loin. Good proportion overall and nice feet. Pushed hard for reserve best of breed but just needs to mature a little more.

2nd McCluskey’s Jimmanns Hud Yer Wheesht – 3yr old female. Another shown in good condition. Nice depth of muzzle,good flat skull and well placed ears. Good length of neck and nice front assembly with adequate bone. Good length of loin and nice turn of stifle. Hocks well placed. Would have preferred a slightly tighter foot but this my have been down to the floor surface as she seemed a little unsure on the move.

3rd Field’s Kalabaney Getrou Dame

1st Shaw’s Negasi Radagast JW – 2 ½ year old handsome male. Still young but lots to like. Lovely head with hood depth to muzzle, flat skull, well set eyes and well placed ears. Good length and strength to neck leading into nicely placed shoulders. Good depth to chest and a nice spring of rib. Well proportioned and balanced. Nice set of tail and good hindquarters with good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Nice tight feet. BOB and delighted to see he took BIS3 later in the day.

2nd Field’s Chaser Jake Jamanne At Kalabaney (IMP DNK) 4 Yr old male. Nice head with a dark eye to compliment his darker face. Good bone to the forelegs and reasonable depth to the chest. Good spring of rib. Good length of loin and balanced overall. Would have preferred a little more bend to stifle but this may have been because of not being able to stack very well without feet slipping on the floor.

3rd Bowers’ Celtic Lore’s Golden Archer at Lyonglen (IMP USA)

1st Willunat’s Gambia Sirius-Canis Maior at Clauwill (IMP POL) JW – 2 ½ year old female, lighter in colour to the rest of the class and nice to clearly see all the banding in her coat. Little light in eye but didn’t detract from a lovely skull and levels planes with a nice ear set. She has a good front with return of upper arm, good bone to her forelegs and a nice depth of chest, length of loin correct giving her a balanced look. Nice tight feet. RBOB

2nd Jolly’s Negasi Elberith for Clanbruachan – 2 1/2 yr old female and litter mate to the 1st place open dog. Good head with strong neck. Nice return to upper arm and adequate depth to chest. Good bone overall. Would have preferred slightly more length to her loin. Good turn of stifle and hocks well let down.

3rd Field’s Jelany Red Florencia At Kalabaney (IMP RUS)
