I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the Devon, Cornwall & South West Beagle Society for inviting me to judge their October 2024 Open Show. Thank you also to the exhibitors who gave me a fabulous quality entry.

MPD 1(0)1st Quantick’s Parkebreeway Rumour. BPD & BPIS.Super young tri puppy of excellent breed type. Loved his well-proportioned head with dark eyes and well-set ears. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders and correct front assembly. Firm level topline and tail set high and carried well. Such a sounder mover.

JD 1(0)1st Taylor’s Rosanka O’Neal by Deaconfield.Quality 13 month male who was so well made with his typical hound head, enough length of neck and level topline. Chest down to elbows and good ribs. Short coupled male with strong hindquarters, well bent stifles and well let down parallel hocks. Good mover

GD 1(0)1st Hooper’s Davricard Jacobean.Sturdy built compact male with good front angulation and layback of shoulder. firm topline and deep chest. A little loose on the move.

PGD 2(0)1st Webster’s Rossut Vizier for Houndscoast. Such a happy boy. Typical head with lovely expression. Good front assembly and chest to elbows and good ribs. Balanced angulation and moving well

LD 4(0)1st Mitchell/Wright’s Huntshill Up To Trouble. RBD. Smart 5 year old male of good size and clean outline. Balanced head with dark eyes and well set and carried ears. Front and back angulation balanced with firm topline held at all times. Moving with good reach and drive. A pleasure to award him Reserve Best Dog 2nd Phillips’ Lanesend Redcap Bushranger. Another Quality male. So well built with balanced angulation, firm topline and well carried tail. Just preferred the movement of the winner   3rd Bell-Thomas’ Amorpapaver Jupiter.

OD 3(0)1st Breeze’s Parkebreeway Wyseman JW. BD, BOS & RBIS.  Well made male with good overall balance. Masculine without being coarse and plenty of bone. Pleasing head with good length of neck into well placed shoulders and level topline. Moving well in all directions. Could not deny him Best Male, Reserve Best in Show and Best Opp Sex in Show  2nd Taylor’s Deaconfield Kingcraft. BVD.  Ultra smart 7 year old male. Lighter in frame than one but so well made. Typical well proportioned head with dark eyes and correct ear set and carriage. Lovely compact body with level topline and high set tail carried well. Moving with ground covering strides from the well angled front assembly and driving from the strong well angled hindquarters. A pleasure to award him Best Veteran Male and Best Veteran in Show   3rd Warner’s Barrvale Hunter at Awreridge.

VD 4(0)  1st Phillips/Keyte’s Lanesend Segenhoe JW ShCM.  Masculine male of good breed type. Correct size and good bone. Compactly built with level topline and strong well angled hindquarters. Shown in excellent condition and good sound mover.  2nd Mitchell/Wright’s Huntshill Tornado JW ShCM.  Quality male with a lovely well proportioned head, enough length of neck firm topline and good depth of chest. Good angulation and moving well  3rd Ryan’s Awreridge Waterbuck.

MPB 2(0)  1st Mitchell/Wright’s Parkebreeway Parsnip at Huntshill.  Smart young female with the most appealing head and expression. Lovely arched neck and well placed shoulders. Level topline and sound mover.  2nd Kingsland’s Maplelayne Have Patience with Redcap (AI).Ultra- feminine youngster with excellent front assembly and balanced angulation. Not as compact as 1. Moving with reach and drive.

PB  1st Halse’s Clarismore Harlequin Lady.  Beautiful 11 month old female with pleasing head and kind expression. With enough neck, firm topline, deep chest and good tail set and carriage. Would prefer her feet to be tighter but she is only young.

JB 4(0)  1st Scarlett’s Vanitonia Enchanted over Michelroy JW. RBB.  Smart tri female with lovely clean lines and good bone. Beautiful head and kind expression. Deep chest, well sprung ribs and balanced angulation. Sound movering in all directions. Reserve Best Bitch  2nd Kingsland’s Brimbleway Galaxy Bar for Redcap.  Another quality female of good size and proportions. Appealing head and kind eyes. Firm topline at all times and moving with ground covering strides.  3rd Griffin’s Clarismore Winter Luxury.

NB 1(0) 1st Taylor’s Rosanka Harlow by Deaconfield.  Well proportioned female of good breed type. Good shoulder placement and firm topline but would prefer a little more rear angulation and turn of stifle.

GB 4(0)1st Mitchell/Wright’s Felinoak Fizz at Huntshill. BB & BIS. Exciting young female of excellent breed type. Good size and bone. Lovely clean flowing lines and balanced angulation. Firm topline held at all times and deep chest with good ribs. Moving soundly in all directions. A pleasure to award her Best Bitch and Best in Show  2nd Scarlett’s Vanitonia Enchanted over Michelroy JW. As Above  3rd Barrow’s Redcap Pretty Woman at Meganjin.

PGB 2(0) 1st Barrow’s Rosanka Skye at Meganjin. 13 month old with appealing head and kind expression. Nice type all through with level topline, deep chest and well ribbed. Moving with reach and drive. 2nd Bell-Thomas’ Amorpapaver Juno.3 year old female of good size and bone. Pleasing head with dark eyes and good ear set. Level topline held at all times. Not as compact or the proportions of 1.

LB 4(0) 1st Mitchell/Wright’s Huntshill Usual Suspect. Smart tri with clean flowing lines. Clean well proportioned head with kind expression. Arched neck into level topline and good tailset and carriage. Nice tight feet 2nd Kingsland/Stevens’ Redcap The Loco Motion with Talbotrise. Smaller than one but all in proportion with good reach of neck and firm topline. Strong hindquarters and well let down hocks. 3rd Griffin’s Clarismore Twist and Shout.

OB 4(2)  1st Keepence/Keyte’s Redcap Northern Lights over Alandobel.  Good honest female of good size and bone. Pleasing head and kind expression. Enough neck into well placed shoulders and level topline. Balanced angulation and sound mover  2nd Webster’s Michelroy Pimpernell with Houndscoast JW.  Well-proportioned female with excellent front assembly balanced with well angulated hindquarters. Carrying a little excess weight today. Moving well from all directions.

VB 5(1)  1st Warner’s Awreridge Watercolour JW. BVB & BVIS. Lovely female with good clean outline. Good head and lovely dark eyes. Good reach of neck and firm topline. Good hindquarters and tight feet. 2nd Breeze’s Davricard Hummingbird of Parkebreeway ShCM. Another quality female who was totally balanced. Lovely head and expression. Firm topline and deep chest. Sound mover 3rd Hargrave’s Valsacre Vista JW.
