Annandale Canine Society

Annandale Canine Society Open Show 14/7/24 - Dalmatian

I would like to thank the society for the invitation to judge and for the hospitality received on the day, what an enjoyable and friendly show. Thank you to my stewards too, who kept smiling and joking despite the weather.

I would also like to thank the exhibitors for coming out, especially after two championship shows the day before and also the weather on the day. Unfortunately, the rain set in during judging of the breed before ours and continued throughout our judging and a few of the dogs weren’t impressed with this! This combined with the ring surface, which was new to some dogs, did cause some dogs to not move as well as I know they can. All dogs had superb temperaments and all were happy to be gone over. All owners and breeders should be proud of having such outgoing dogs.

This was a breed supported entry, so many thanks to the British Dalmatian Club for arranging that too.

PUPPY (1)

1st Wilkins - Salvadorada Just For Us

11 month old b/s beautiful feminine B who wasn’t impressed with the conditions today. She is very nicely built and moved with good reach and drive when settled. Muscling up well in all the right places, nice deep chest, good spring of rib, nice bend of stifle and correct cat feet. She is nicely marked, with such a pretty face, which just completes the picture. I will watch her progress with interest.

JUNIOR (4, 1ab)

This was a lovely class, all youngsters were just super and it gave me the biggest heartache of the day.

1st Quayle – Cubalibre Star Attraction

Absolutely gorgeous 14 month old L/W B who just demands you look at her. What a delightful personality she has! Richly coloured liver with correct amber eye and lovely feminine head. Really nice make and shape, muscling up well with everything in proportion. She is so balanced, nice deep chest and correct tailset. Nice second thigh leading to a lovely bend of stifle. She stands like she owns the ring. Moves so effortlessly, while keeping her topline and looks like she could just go all day. BOB and I was delighted to see her go G1. One to watch for the future

2nd Newton & Newton O’Brien – What You See Is What You Get Passionate About You For Chizzmic (IMP BEL)

17 month old B/S D who was sadly distracted somewhat today. He has lovely spotting with the darkest pigment. Nice masculine head, there’s no disguising he is male. Well muscled in all the right places, nice deep chest and good firm topline. He’s a really nice boy and he moved well when he had his mind on the job with good reach and drive. Charming personality. His day will come

3rd Wilkins - Anima Cordis Perfect Lover For Salvadorada

Pulled out all the stops in the BP challenge and took BPIB. He is still very much a baby but there’s a lot to like, he has the sweetest expression with a nice masculine head. Very happy puppy who’s tail doesn’t stop wagging. He moves with good reach and drive for one so young with has a lovely firm topline on the move, but does tend to stand slightly overstretched at times which can affect it on the stand. He has a lovely personality and is a real little showman. I will look forward to watching him develop.

POST GRADUATE (5, 2ab)

A class of gorgeous livers!

1st Quayle – Cubalibre Wishing Star

Litter sister to 1st in Junior, another pretty L/W with a lovely personality. Slightly longer cast than some today but a very nice make and shape, another who’s muscling up well and is very balanced. Good second thigh, nice bend of stifle and well let down hocks. Moves with powerful reach and drive and demands you take notice of her. A lot to like, her and her sister will likely swap places throughout their show career

2nd Melling - Jemblewood Candy Floss

2yr old L/W B with the sweetest expression. Evenly spotted with correct tail set. She is maturing well and is a nice make and shape, just not quite the substance of 1st. Strong neck into a firm topline, good tailset and correct tight cat feet. Well muscled hind quarters. Moved very slightly close behind on the up and down today.

3rd Grant – Kevin Dude Of The Glen

This gorgeous boy didn’t move how I know he can today. He’s maturing so nicely but didn’t have his showman hat on today sadly.

OPEN (5, 2ab)

1st Newton & Newton O’Brien – Cotterspot Cotterdale Lady Of Chizzmic

Gorgeous B/W 3 yr old B who I’ve judged before and she has matured so nicely in the past year. She demands you look at her, such a delightful happy personality, her tail doesn’t stop wagging. She has a nice dark eye, lovely deep pigment and is a very balanced honest B. Nicely muscled, firm topline leading to correct tailset. Good bend of stifle and correct cat feet. Moves with purpose, she looked like she could go on all day. RBOB

2nd Wilkins – Salvadorada Honestly Maybe

L/W 19 month old B who sadly didn’t want to fully perform today. Lovely character, very nice make and shape, with correct liver colouring and the sweetest expression. Expertly shown on a loose lead which gave her the scope to move with fantastic reach and drive. Nicely muscled, firm topline and correct tailset. Definitely one to watch when the conditions are more favourable to her. She’s just lovely.

3rd Grant – Kevin Dude Of The Glen
