Carluke & District Canine Society

Breed: English Setter

Candice Parker-Smith (Bratticus)

I would like to offer my gratitude to Mr David Alcorn and the hardworking committee of Carluke & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at this super open show. It was particularly well organised, had a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Also, many thanks to my two very organised stewards, Richard Ravell and Alison Carmichael for keeping me in order throughout my judging.

English Setters

Open D/B: 4 entries (1 abs)

1. Ms M Vallance’s ROWANMYLE WAS A SKELLUM (D) Lovely expressive boy with deep chest from well set shoulders. Short but strong back with well sprung ribs leading to well-muscled hind quarters. Tight, arched toes. Moved with grace together with drive. Lovely, silky coat with just the right amount of wave. Went BOB. Shortlisted to final 8 in Gundog group.

2. Ms M Vallance’s ENNYDLOC YORKSHIRE LIAISON TO ROWANMYLE (D) This youngster has a lovely head and is starting to muscle well now at 14 months. He loved to look around him when being shown. Good ribs held his straight topline. When moving, he travelled forward but not quite straight yet at the back as he was happily observing what was going on around him.

3. Mr G & Mrs P Hughes’s MARIGLEN HERE TO ETERNITY (D) This real baby at 7 months, thoroughly enjoyed his day in the ring. He was going every which way, but the way forward, however, was better after he settled. Lovely, kind expression and well ribbed. One to watch as he grows up. BPIB.
