Grantham & District Canine Society

Breed: Varieties
You I was so pleased for the society who came back with their first show since 2019 to have such great entries in the breeds and the stakes classes. Thank you for the invitation to judge some enormous classes, thank goodness for absentees ! MPD (30,22) 1 Brandenburg and Smiths Samoyed Nikara its Keats, an absolutely gorgeous youngster of just 8 months, presented in first class coat, excellent head and lovely smiley expression, well set ears and very in tune one with his handler which added to the appeal, good shoulder angulation, profuse tail and well bent stifles, sound and active on the move 2 Ellis-Paynes Malamute Chayo Here Comes Trouble, another lovely youngster, only 6 months but you can see what a lovely shape he is already and I really liked his bone and substance, typical head for his age with ears just needing to settle and well placed oblique eye, strong neck and good shoulders, presented in good coat and fairly well together for his age 3 Naismiths OES Shaggybo Mineral Mist MPB (35,24) 1 Harrisons Irish Setter Clonageera Summer Dreams At Millpoint 7mths old and such a pretty girl with long narrow head and dark almond eye, super neck and forequarters with straight forelegs and tight arched feet, carried her self well on the move but just needs to strengthen behind. Lots to appreciate here 2 Jarram Jarram and Whittinghams ASD Viva La Vida For Kashaella De L’Aussie Happy 7mth merle with a beautiful outline, such a pretty girl with expressive eyes and high set ears well used although she has a typical puppy head at the moment which is to be expected but should break and mature nicely. She stands true in front on compact feet feet with an excellent topline and moderate bend of stifle, beautifully presented and handled 3 Maskell Rayner and Maskells Weimaraner Brownbank Willow With Raystans AV Junior (67,42) 1 Roustons Boston Terrier Ivyjewel Put A light On Me, I do love a good Boston Terrier and this is a good Boston Terrier! I thought he had a super head with width and depth to his muzzle and small well set ears, so smart on the stack and nicely compact in body with straight forelegs and short strong pasterns, straight and true on the move 2 Bulls RBT Larkharbour Kawasaki At Gunnerbears for a large breed this 13 month b moves exceptionally well, presented in good coat and furnishings she is strongly made with good muscletone and covered the ground with good reach and drive 3 Beagries WHD Feldhund Moonlight AV Good Citizens (34,18) 1 Dennis Weimaraner Silverweiss Sparkler 5 year old b with a lovely silver coat, attractive head of good proportions and long ears, elegant neck into a good lay of shoulder, ribs extending well back with a firm level topline held on the move, covered the ground with plenty of rear drive 2 Hladkyj’s Eurasier Tempete Albert Du Royaume Des Terres Gelees 2 yr sable d in lovely coat and with a sound temperament, wedge head with oval eye and well set ears, good height to length ratios and a firm straight topline with adequate hind angulation, loved him on the move where he was straight and true all ways. 3 Simmons Bouvier Ch Chepam Woronora Sh.CM VW AV Puppy Stakes (54,34) 1 Cookes GSP Seasham Show Me The Way 9mth d presented in fit and muscled condition, masculine head with a strong neck and good front, currently a fraction long in body but still needs to fill out, firm top line and well angulated quarters, moved out with good reach and drive. 2 Tarabad and Whitmans Cavalier Rhamzi’s Abbie O’riginal At Khatibi NAF 7 mth b with a lovely personality and ever wagging tail, good head shape and dark eye, well feathered feet and a level top line, moved out well 3 Andrews Mittel Claran Moon Beam 10mth b AV Open stakes (53,33abs) This was a fabulous class with quality right down the line 1 Westaways Pointer SH Ch Teisgol Keep On Going Via Penwest JW a 3 yr shapely orange dog, excellent head and neck, straight forelegs and strong pasterns, good depth of chest, slightly sloping top line and well muscled second thigh, Drove out well from the rear 2 Williams and Newtons PWD Ch Rarjo Captain Curl Macduff JW a cracking 15 mth curly coated d with great ring presence, strong head with defined stop and dark eye, straight well boned forelegs to strong pasterns and feet, body is square with a good depth of chest and well angulated quarters. He is a sound and lively mover but I would have liked less coat around the neck area which would have emphasised its correctness a little more. 3 McKinlay Johnson, Hall and Halls EMD Kayarrach Wish Upon A Star YKC Stakes O (16,6abs) 1 Williams Newton and Slacks PWD Rarjo Macduff Making Waves With Megalucie JW 15mth b and sister of 2nd in the Open stakes. A beautifully made girl all through, she is compact and balanced with a well proportioned head, dark eye and well set ears, short strong neck into well laid shoulders, good top line with tail set correctly and carried well on the move. Well presented and handled 2 ASD Viva La Vida For Kashaella De L’Aussie Happy (see 2nd MPB) 3 Richardsons MSH D Teckeltown Elton John Adult Handling 17-45 (6,1abs) 1 Laura Debby handling a Shar Pei, clearly a very experienced handler which showed in how she moved and presented her dog. She used the ring well to show off her dogs movement and was the only one to come back directly to me on the down. 2 Emma Herring handling a Mastiff, not an easy size dog to show particularly when you are swapping sides so as not to hinder the judges view of your dog but she did this very well. Moved away in a straight line from me but forgot to look where I was standing when she came back down the ring 3 Isabelle Collier handling a Dalmatian Adult Handling 46 and over (10,6 abs) 1 Janet Unwin handling an ESS. An excellent handler who never got between me and her dog, she executed the commands very well using all the ring and was accurate on the out and back constantly checked where I was standing and returning straight to me 2 Marie Dennis handling a Weimaraner, presented her dog very well and was particularly good on the out and back with almost perfect straight lines but failed to listen to my commands correctly and didn’t return to where I was standing which knocked her down to 2nd place 3 Debra Kay handling a JRT AV Special beginners (46,24abs) 1 Brothwells Wissant Dear Darling 3 yr roan b who made a pleasing shape on the stack, she has a feminine head and such a lovely expression, good neck and shoulders, compact well ribbed body with a firm top line, such a happy mover too. 2 MSD Teckeltown Elton John, 3rd in the YKC stakes but here I was impressed with how he was handled and he looked lovely on the stack, he is perhaps a fraction long in body and could carry a little more weight but I loved him on the move, he has plenty of ground clearance and went forward freely with a good length of stride 3 Sweet and Doran’s OES Makaylan Cu Caol Ila.
