A very late finish but such a lovely show to judge at. Huge thanks to my steward for working tirelessly to ensure the ring rang smoothly and that exhibitors got into all their classes.
After the BIS judge has completed his awards it was down to me to judge further ‘best in’ awards with my BVIS going to the cheeky 9 year old Affenpinscher Hills Scalene Solitaire, she has a such a lovely expression coming from her dark eyes, she is short backed with good angles front and rear and went forward very well. RBVIS was the quality Bedlington Terrier Offers CH Woolytop The Wherryman ShCM SHCex VW, an excellent example of the breed and at just shy of 8 years old he is in great condition, presenting a graceful profile with a good length of neck, correct tuck and rise over the loin, a true and accurate mover. Best Import Register In Show was the Braque D’Auvergne Khyannas Villette At Canemamans ShCEx (imp Hun) still showing her socks off at the end of a long day, IMO probably the best example of the breed that you will see. RB Import Register In Show was the Entelbucher Waldershelf Awesome Ryder, an 11 mth d presented in beautiful coat and condition, he was just a little unsettled to begin with but he is such a good mover going soundly and easily and displaying good drive. Best Special Beginner In Show was was the OES Pullens Meadowbears Master of Music a 5 year old d with a strong masculine head and defined stop, he was presented in profuse coat and I thought he was very nice to go over. His sound movement and good drive won him the top spot. RB Special Beginner In Show was the merry Cocker Spaniel Brothwells Wissant Uptown girl, a mature 5 yr roan who presented a pleasing shape on the stack, pretty head and dark eye, ample length of neck and a firm topline held on the move Best RBOB In Show was the Airedale Eastalls Daedal Frozen In Time (A.I.) a 7 yr b whose condition belied her age completely, smart and cobby on the stack with a super harsh coat and displaying correct parallel movement for the breed. Reserve Best RBOB was the Tibetan Terrier Thomas’s Kelmorespitz Afire Love JW. I judged this 16 mth d as a puppy and liked him, today I can see how he has matured on and he was presented in fantastic coat, has has a good skull shape and dark eye, compact body with low set hocks and carried himself nicely around the ring.
HUNGARIAN PULI P (0) SY (1) 1 and BOB Hudson’s Mournbrake Also An Angel 14 mth d presented in profuse coat with some cording visible but I would have liked a little less felting, he has a good head with dark eye and nose pigment and a medium length of neck and visible withers, moved out briskly and soundly L (1) 1 and RBOB Mournbrake Archangel 2 5 yr grey dog, a sturdy looking dog of sound temperament with some impressive cording over his shoulders, small head of good proportions and defined stop, he stands in fine bones forelegs and round feet, unfortunately he insisted in pacing most of the way round the ring although there were glimpses of correct short stepping action, most of which occurred after the challenge for BOB!
GBGV P (0) SY (0) L (2,1) 1 and BOB Marshall’s Soufriere Paserelle Bateau d a rather pleasing 2.5 yr dog with a nicely proportioned head and dark eye, he has enough neck length leading into well laid shoulders with a good length of rib cage and a firm topline, happy on the move carrying himself soundly and displaying good front reach (O (1) 1 and RBOB Marshall’s Soufriere One Vision JW a tri b showing good balance in the stack, skull is slightly domed with defined stop and a good length of muzzle but I would have liked a tidier mouth. She has a good length of neck into well laid shoulders, body is of good length with well fitting elbows and a good depth of brisket, coat is of good texture and she carried herself well on the move.
DEERHOUNDS P (0) SY (0) L (1) 1 and BOB Shannon’s Erewhon Firefly b I thought this girl was a very nice specimen she has a lovely head with high set nicely folded ears and a good length of neck set well into her shoulders, she has very good shoulders and hind angulation and the correct topline with slight arch over the moon, she moved with a reasonable length of stride but just dropped short on occasion however I thought her overall shape was more in line with the standard O (1) 1 and RBOB Shannon’s Packway Downlander At Erewhon, this lad has a good head and eye but his ears could be better, I thought he was looking a fraction long in loin with a bit too much tuck up, he was presented in well muscled condition and moved easily around the ring.
AVNSC HOUND P (2,abs) L (1,abs) O 1 and BAVNSC Miller, Miller, Avery, Howie and Emrys-Jones Marksbury Regina At Millvery a beautiful well balanced girl with a lean head and long lobular ears, she has a good length of fore face and large open nostrils, forelegs are straight with good oval bone to strong pasterns, she has a good depth of chest and an excellent topline, shapely hindquarters and string well let down hocks, she is so sound on the move although she starts off a little wide behind but her stride is free and ground covering. Liked her a lot.

Hound group 1 Whippet Wilton-Clark’s Shalfleet Easter Sonnet JW 2 yr brindle/white b with an elegant and shapely outline, she has a beautiful head and neck and was presented in muscled condition with particularly well muscled hindquarters and was so effortless on the move, 2 PBGV Townsends Afterglow Curtain Call Avec Roxastan a 4.5 yr d presented in a good rough coat and who won a place with his free and driving movement 3 Bloodhound Marksbury Regina At Millvery 4 WHD Coverleys Aventine Aunt Patience 3 yr b, I loved this girls construction, she has an excellent front and well ribbed body with good ground clearance, she moved soundly enough but could be a bit more enthusiastic which would have put her up the line.
Hound Puppy group 1 and RBPIS Basset Hound Jones Clanwillow Fire and Ice 8 mth tri d and what a super prospect he is too! Strongly made with good ground clearance and carrying just the right amount of weight, topline strong and level over a good length of body which is developing nicely, moved out smoothly with plenty of reach, delighted to see him do so well under the BIS judge congratulations 2 MSHD Watkinsons Whitewebb Excalibur 10 mth b/t d, such a smart boy on the stack, good head, high set ears and bright expression, short strong forearms and a good length of ribcage, went forward soundly, 3 MWHD Foleys Bimini Alfie Moon At Clavennae 7 mths old and such a baby but with a lovely head and eye, moved out with accuracy holding his topline 4 PBGV Woods Beaujons Anton Du Beke, pleasing head shape with square muzzle and large eyes giving a kindly expression, possibly a little long cast but no compromise in topline and moving out soundly
Hound Group RBOB 1 Afghan Mullen’s El Roalito Keep Smiling (imp Deu) 6 yr b/t d, of medium size and presented in a long fine coat, he has a good length of foreface and lovely dark eye, tail was carried correctly but could be better ringed. Y (2,1) 1 Sladden and Webber’s Paris Mon Tresore D’ Amoure (Imp Pol) an attractive chestnut b with such a happy temperament who makes a pleasing shape overall on the stack, feminine head of good proportions with a good depth of muzzle and tight eye, ample length of neck but I would have liked a little more angulation at the shoulders, she has a good rib cage and topline and looked a picture on the move carrying herself proudly as she moved around the ring L (3,1) 1 and RBOB Sladden and Forbes Canemamans Primo Al Fine JW 3y orange roan d with a stunning outline and a gorgeous head, body is just off square and he stands on well boned forelegs and good feet, short strong neck and well sprung ribs, he covers the ground so easily and freely, being critical I would have liked to feel a little more muscle on him 2 Sladden and Webber’s Valcor Killer Queen JW this 2 yr chestnut b did herself no favours on the stack but I thought she had a beautiful head and expression with good chiselling and tight fitting lids with eyes giving a kindly expression, strong neck and good angulation front and rear, she has an excellent side gait and covered the ground freely and easily O (4,3) 1 and BOB Sladdens Bushwacker Dangerous Dave At Canemamans JW a strong masculine dog with an almost square outline, lean well proportioned head with good chiselling, strong neck, defined withers and well boned forelegs, feet could be a little tighter but the flooring didn’t help a lot of the exhibits, well developed body with deep broad chest and well sprung ribs, a power house on the move covering the ground with good reach and drive, sadly he didn’t perform so well in the group so missed out on a place today.
