GUNDOGS
Thanks to the Committee for the invitation to judge gundogs at this well run premier open show. Many thanks to my hardworking stewards, without whom there would be no shows. Thanks to the exhibitors for a wonderful quality entry and the sportsmanship displayed. The group was of such high quality it could have easily been a championship show group, and even some of my favorites were just pipped at the post for a placing. I could have easily awarded 8 placements, however on the day, the Gordon Setter, Mappins Bryerdale Qangeroo, took the top spot and later went on BIS. She teems with quality, has such a lovely head with expressive eyes, deep chest with well spring ribs leading to strong muscular hindquarters. Shown to perfection, in gleaming coat and powered around the large ring just pipping the handsome Bracco. Group 2 Sandersons Owlspoint trouble again JW, I had judged earlier in the day and in the big ring was able to show off his powerful movement whilst holding true outline. Head of correct proportions leading to powerful neck and body, deep chested with good ribs and shoulders, Glossy short coat, shown in hard muscular condition. Was close up to 1st. Group 3 Clarkes WSS Sh Ch Crimicar she’s electric with Tigerrock JW, a very worthy champion who also really came into her own in the group, feminine head with melting expression, good through neck to well muscled rear, holds lovely outline stacked, in great coat and condition, Group 4 Richardsons Irish Setter Gwendariff tullys red arrows, quality boy from a top kennel, has lots of attributes, looked great stacked and also came alive on the final lap to push out the handsome cocker and cheeky IWS. PG2 Glendinnings ESS Plaigen one last time, beautiful chiselled head with kind expression, deep chest with good shoulders, firm topline, moves like a dream with the ESS gait, swinging forelegs straight forward from the shoulder. Unlucky to meet 1 today. PG3 Clack & Edderys Epsilon adahara at Molokain, one I have been admiring ringside, typical curly head with kind expression, well made front and back, has deep chest and holds topline on the move. Very well handled and presented.
