Irish Setters:

Junior:

1st – Gardner’s – Danwish Troubadour

Super start to the day! What an absolute cracker he is. He is racy, balanced and full of quality. His head is long and lean with great chiselling for his age. His neck is crested and flows beautifully into such a classy forehand. He slopes from withers to tail. Good length to rib and firm strong loin. He is so balanced with excellent length to height ratios. Long from hip to hock which are well let down and shapely. As to expect, he is puppish on the move, but shows such scope and promise, especially in side gait. Loved his lush dark puppy coat too. I was delighted to award him RBOB & BPIB and to watch him go PG2 on the day.

2nd – Tapper & Leyland’s – Kedalita Steptoe & Son

No shame in standing 2nd here.

Another pup from the top drawer with very little to fault and very much the type of the winner. Standing on good bone and feet. He owns a very handsome head, a kind unshelled almond eye and fine lowset ears. Well angulated both front and rear and holds a lovely outline already. Again, puppish on the move, but showing great promise. Another with an excellent puppy coat. Liked him a lot.

3rd – Flinders & Robinson-Slater’s – Kerryfair Misty Morning

Post Grad:

1st - Berry & Morris’ – Copper’s Midsummer Nights Dream (Imp Swe) JW

A very eye-catching dog of lovely type and also somewhat of a handful! He has the kindest expression, lovely dark eye and low set ears. Excels in front construction and has a lovely amount of fore-chest. Very deep chest, lengthy ribs, and excellent bone and feet. His quarters well wide and muscled and he’s well let down in hock. Shown in the most glorious coat and condition with a wealth of feathering for his age.

As mentioned above, he is somewhat of a handful both standing and on the move, but when he’s got his mind on the job, he shows moments of brilliance for both. Thank you for bringing him. BOB and shortlisted in the group.

2nd – Gardner’s Danwish Soprano

Litter sister to the puppy dog and obviously giving away a lot in maturity here. She too is incredibly classy and is of such an appealing type. She’s so pretty and feminine and has a wicked look in her eye. Not quite as together on the stack as her brother at the moment, but on the move she’s a delight already and has such a lengthy side gait. I’m very much looking forward to watching them both mature. How exciting for their owner.

3rd – Robin-Slater’s – Kerryfair Lucky Seven

Open:

1st – Berry & Morris’ – Brinara Country Boy

Liked this boy for type. Handsome headed with a kind eye and expression. Clean sloping topline, but not quite the front of the other two class winners today. He’s racy and balanced, has length and depth to ribs and a firm strong loin. Shown in lovely coat and feather. Moved well enough but lacked the sparkle of the other two boys in the challenge.
