Stroud & District Canine Society

Breed: Dalmatian

Stroud & District Canine Society

My sincere thanks to the society for inviting me to judge my beloved breed at your 80th anniversary show. I received a very warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed my day.

Thank you to My steward Lynne for her help too.

Dalmatians

Whilst my entry was numerically small what it did not lack was quality and all of the dogs presented are ones that I have admired from ringside and could have placed in the top spot on a different day. All were presented with Clean coats and teeth with correct scissor bite and well manicured nails. Some however were carrying a little too much weight and this affected their placings.

Thank you all for bring your dogs today. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them.

1. TAMILANDA GOLD STANDARD AT DOTSADAISY

8 months richly liver spotted young lady with a crisp white jacket. Excelled in topline both standing and on the move. Is well muscled for one so young. Lovely tight cat feet. 2nd thigh developing nicely. Correct bend of stifle. Nice deep capacious chest with lots of lung room and spring of rib coming on nicely. Has plenty of bone and good straight forelegs. Loved her beautiful soft expression with her correct amber eye, framed perfectly by her spotted ears. I have seen this youngster at previous shows where she has displayed her youthful exhuberance, but that was certainly not the case today. She moved in such a calm and collected and elegant manner displaying reach and drive. She stood alone in this class but later on pushed much more mature exhibits hard and I couldn’t look past her. She has everything just where it should be for her age and I look forward to following her career

1. DVOJICA FIREFLY FOR FINNIDAL

Deep pigment on this well marked black spotted girl of 18 months. Dark eyes that just draw you in ,High set ears framing the cheekiest of expressions. (One that I am all too familiar with). Good arch on her long neck. Well laid shoulder and good round bone on her straight forelegs. Ribs are well back and with good spring to them. Another that obviously benefits from a good amount of exercise which is evident in her well muscled hind quarters. When moved at the correct speed she comes into her own with a smooth gait exhibiting reach and drive and I could easily see her doing a days work behind a carriage and still wanting to go back for more.

BOB

2. SADIEDEL LET UR HEART DECIDE JW.

18 Month Black spotted male that I have watched and admired for some time now. He is beautifully marked but with a plain face, yet this does not detract from his character and obvious quality. Excellent tight feet and well off for bone. On the move he is smooth and economical and so clearly very well schooled. He had the best tail set of the day. However he is carrying a little too much weight for me and this cost him this class

3. HAFWENNA THE RED VIPER.

2 years old upstanding black spotted male that excelled on the move. He was a bit fidgety on the stand today. Excellent spotting on a white coat, sadly he is suffering from the dreaded dally rash and this cost him as it was more obvious on his handsome ghost face. He does carry his tail a little higher than ideal but that being said his qualities outweigh this. I do hope to see him again in better coat.

1. WINFLASH MIRAGE

3 year old Black spotted female with the darkest of eyes. Her gorgeous expression is enhanced by her facial spotting. Another good front with capacious chest and straight forelegs onto excellent feet. Well ribbed and topline held well on the move however on the stand she had a tendency to over stretch causing her topline to slope off. Another that has obviously suffered in the recent wet weather and has some dally rash. She is obviously well exercised and had excellent second thigh and good muscle all round. She’s does however carry a little extra weight across her withers causing them to “roll” a little.
