Disappointingly, several of the dachshunds had poor mouths – overshot in a few cases. The results might have been different otherwise.

Junior (4 Entries)
1st = Carters Wyreview Octavius
10 months old puppy. Masculine with a good length of neck. Well ribbed back. Excellent topline, which I preferred to his litter sister who was 2nd in this class. Moved well in profile. Sound on the up and back.

Much finer built than her litter brother and with a better prosternum. Correct length to body height ratio. Short hocks. Moved well.
3rd = Downies Tannahill Thalia
Open (4 Entries -1)
1st & BOB & BP = Hitchell & Hoyes Salixian Lyra
Attractive 8 months old girl who would benefit from a little attention to feet, nails and coat but she has promise. Good length of neck set into a well-placed shoulder and return of upper arm. Excellent spring of rib. Correct loin. Moved well in the class and in the challenge for BOB but refused to cooperate when she came into the Group and so had to pay the price.

Pretty girl of excellent shape. Good rear quarters. Short hocks. Moved well.
3rd = Carters Wyreview Orson Welles
RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK
Puppy (5 Entries)
1st & BP & HPG 2 = Strauja & Prices Chioke For Zeri By Ridgelove (Imp Svk)
Very promising balanced 9 months old puppy dog with a great deal to like. Masculine but not too strong. Plenty of time to develop into himself. Best of necks set into well laid back shoulder. Good return of upper arm. Excellent ribbing and depth for his age. Good rear quarters to match. Straight front with excellent feet and pasterns. Moved as I knew he would. Must have a bright future. One to watch.
2nd = Kerrs Priorpark Pure Theatre at Buhera
This pretty girl was just a week younger than the winner but in comparison, still looks pretty raw. Well balanced head. Strong neck. Good front assembly matched by her rear quarters. Moved sound and with good drive from her rear. Give her time and she will do well.

B & T boy almost 7 months old, so nicely made all through. Balanced head. Long neck running smoothly into his shoulders. Excellent ribbing and rise over the loin. Underline to complement. Good bone and feet. Prosternum developing well. Moved well coming and going and with drive and extension in profile. Should do well.
2nd = Hughes Istani Bob Dylan at Finkime (Afghan)
This 10 month old baby boy has a way to go yet – so raw, but still has some good features as he grows into himself. Pleasing head, with good underjaw. Good front assembly with excellent return of upper arm. Needs to develop through his ribcage. Good sweep from hip to hock. Moved with spring. Well presented.

Good depth of chest for his age. Prominent pinbones. Good length from hip to his short hocks. In super coat with correct saddle. Moved with smooth and springy action with extension in front and drive from behind. Ringed tail completed the picture. A worthy group winner.

This handsome quality boy with a very attractive head and expression, is not long out of puppy and is still very loose and raw. Good bone. Long strong neck. Good shoulder and upper arm. Excellent depth of chest and spring of rib. Correct well arched loin. Still has to coordinate his brain with his legs to finish the picture. I would be interested to see him again with a few more months on him.
2nd = Spencers Lokmadi Sandstone at Bannonbrig (Mini S/H Dachs)
Red boy with a good shape to his head. Good length of neck. Nice front assembly with reasonable prosternum. Nice feet and nails. Dropped his topline on the move a little.
Open (7 – 4 Entries)
1st = Jennings Jenivons Miss Marple (Mini S/H Dachs)
This lovely girl is just my dachshund cup of tea. Not too long and low. Her pretty head atop a strong neck leading into her shoulders. Spot-on through both her topline and underline with correct prosternum. She finishes off with short hocks on her well angulated rear quarters which she uses on the move. One I would take home.

1st = Cunliffes Ir Sh Ch Calvdale I Say of Fallenleaf (ESS) CJW18 CW18 Cent Winner
Unfortunately, the exhibitor rushed out of the ring before I could critique this almost 8 years old girl. However, I recall that she was the one who took my eye when she came into the ring. She moved very sound and with drive and looked like she could do a day in the field even at this age. I believe this win was also the last point for her Veteran Warrant. – congratulations.

Very shapely 7 year old in his prime. Strong head with correct set ears. Good front and rear angulation. Correct topline. Good ribbing. Moved with typical breed action and attitude. Sound as a pound.
