Thank you to the committee for this appointment, such a friendly and well run show. Thank you to the exhibitors for allowing me the opportunity to judge some wonderful exhibits. The show is certainly strong in the Pastoral breeds. 

Alaskan Malamute

Open (2,1)

1st - Smith’s CH Snowshoes Who Dares Wins BOB WG1- a powerful presence on the stand, nice outline. Broad skull. Good dark, almond shaped eye obliquely set. Ears small, shape and set nicely. Nicely arched neck into well muscled, sloping shoulders. Slight slope in topline held on the stand and move. Powerful body. Good parallel legs standing true. Good compact feet. In good coat condition. Moved with power even in a smallish ring. 

Bernese Mountain Dog

1st - Akehurst’s Velvet Van’t Pachthof JW (IMP BEL) BOB – 2 year old bitch maturing nicely. Strong head, flat skull. Nice dark, almond eye and well defined stop. Ears high set lying flat. Strong in muscle, slopped upper arm, slightly sloping pasterns. Broad, deep chest. Correct colour and texture to coat. Moved well when settled but a little unsure of herself.

Doberman 

Post Grad (5,3)

1st - Webb & Mullins’s Protocol’s The Midas Touch (IMP USA) – 13 month old, good for size. Attractive blunt wedge head, with ears close to cheeks. Square in body with slightly sloping topline. Well developed front, short and firm back, Moved well to win the class. 

2nd - Caldcott’s Aritaur Cirilla With Philmont - B BPIB WPG1 Lively bitch with attractive head. Good depth of muzzle. Correct almond shaped eyes. Long and lean neck, carried well. Angles and leg lengths good at this age but still, as expected, maturing to do. Nice feet. Moved well.

1st - Lafford’s Lateagain Wild Heart Alec Sariandobes JW - B BOB WG4 Impressive bitch on the stand that draws your eye in. Well balanced, muscular yet elegant. Loved her head and expression. Good high set ears, dropping flat against cheeks. Very good angulation in the front paired with nice length of leg, straight on the stand. Well developed chest.Slightly sloping topline to good tail set and carriage. Moved freely with reach and drive.

2nd - Bowdler’s Lateagain Zenyatta For Inverteign - B RBOB Nice overall balance. High set ears. Eyes correct almond shape. Body square in shape and well muscled. Good arched, compact, cat like feet. Moved well.

1st - Frances’s Ivan Leo Vom Zarendorf (IMP RUS) - BOB Large masculine, well muscled male.Strong head with dark mask. Ears ok of medium size. Well laid shoulderHeight to length ration correct with a nice depth to chest. Good ground covering movement. 

2nd - Sabine’s Dacfolke Luck Of The Irish - BPIB & RBOB Very much a baby and enjoying his day out. Lots of maturing to do still as expected at this age. Good expression and used his ears to good effect. Very loose and moving close behind at this stage.

Boxer

1st - Richards’s Markinshell Pombear At Dajoxx - BOB Medium sized dog, square in shape and well muscled. Nice head with a broad muzzle, Balance of skull to muzzle correct. Distinct stop. Medium sized ears set wide apart. Nice length of neck leading to sloping topline. Well tucked up, short loin. Moved powerfully around the ring. 

2nd - Richards’s Galicar Incommunicado With Astralune - BPIB & RBOB Nicely maturing young bitch with a pretty head. Good earset for size and shape. Nice muzzle length. Good body shape and slightly sloped, short pasterns. Moved well for a baby. 

Bullmastiff

Post Grad (4,2)

1st - Cox’s Gertlush Nimueh For Rainwilds RBOB 2 year old bitch. Nice overall balance. Powerfully built. Square in skull but still feminine. Ears ok. Nice dark eye. Short, broad muzzle. Wide, deep chest and deep brisket. Short and straight back, well muscled. Balanced movement. 

2nd - Mangat’s Nehrani Precious Lotus - BPIB WPG3 8 month old brindle bitch

. Nice head `but still lots of maturing to do. Good dark eye. Correct length of muzzle for age. Good broad, deep chest. Little unbalanced in body at this stage and loose in movement.

1st - Horton & Williams’s Gertlush Polished Ebony - B BOB 2 year old brindle bitch with a feminine broad skull. Ears high and wide, correct v-shape. Muscular, slopping shoulders, not overloaded. Wide, deep chest. Short and straight in body shape. Hind legs strong with well muscled second thigh. High set tail. Powerful on the move. 

2nd - Mangat’s Nehrani Bollywood Knight – Up to size boy with a very masculine head. Not overdone though. Well arched neck leading to strong, muscular, sloping shoulders. Nice compact body shape. Moved well. 

Newfoundland

1st - Carter’s Zentaur The Fizz Factor ShCex - BOB WG2 Well balanced dog with substantial bone. Broad, large, clean head. Lovely dark eye. Good shape and set ears lying close to skull. Good straight front legs. Well muscled throughout. Back broad and level topline held well on the move. Feet webbed. Very nice coat condition. Lovely easy flowing movement. 

2nd – Bull’s King of Helluland Blue Organza RBOB Head ok would like a little less definition to stop. Would like a bit broader chest. Good ears. Nice shoulder angles with elbows close to body. 

AVNSC Working

Open (2,1)

1st – Hill’s ingo-Uschi VD Vanenblikhoeve (IMP NLD) Bouvier Des Flandres – BAVNSC Powerful, compact body, well muscled. Mature head of good 3:2 ratios, flat skull, well developed. High set ears in proportion to head. Good straight forelegs. Short, slightly sloped pasterns. Compact in body with broad, deep chest. Steady mover.

1st - Smith’s CH Snowshoes Who Dares Wins Malamute – as before

2nd - Carter’s Zentaur The Fizz Factor ShCex - Newfoundland - as before

3rd - Morris’s Cwnhapus Innoko JW ShCEx OSW – Siberian – Good sized male displaying a well balanced outline on the stand. Macculine head but not course. Ears good shape and size, well furred. Nice almond shaped eyes, obliquely set. . Nice angulation front and rear allowing for easy, free flowing movement. 

4th - Lafford’s Lateagain Wild Heart Alec Sariandobes JW – Dobermann – as before

Working Puppy Group

1st - Caldcott’s Aritaur Cirilla With Philmont – Dobermann – as before

2nd - March & Smith’s Forstal’s Puki – Siberian – Nicely put together young bitch, Very pretty head. Great ear set and shape. Wonderful soft expression from dark, almond shaped eyes, obliquely set. Good angulation front and rear and showing promise to mature into something special. Correct body height to length rations. Good pastern and hocks. Moved well with purpose. 

3rd - Mangat’s Nehrani Precious Lotus – Bullmastiff – as before

4th - Richards’s Galicar Incommunicado With Astralune – Boxer – as before

2nd – Crowther’s Kobuk Foxtail Lily B Siberian – 5 year old red in full coat. Eyes correct shape and set. Slight slope to stop. Good expression. Nice parallel front, angulation ok. Just would prefer a bit more leg to balance height to length proportions. Moved energetically around the ring. 

Veteran 7-9 years (4,2)

1st – Groves & Lafford’s Lateaghin Satisfaction JW ShCEx – Doberman BVIG Nicely put together boy that really caught my eye. Well balanced, strong, muscular body. Masculine wedged shaped head. Ears high on head and good shape and size. Lovely expression. Well developed chest. Nice feet. Won this class on movement.

2nd – Lafford’s Lateagain Wild Heart Avec Sariandobes JW – Doberman Litter sister to winner and many of the comments apply here as well. Not quite the ears set of litter brother. Well balanced throughout, good feet and again another nice mover. 

Veteran 10 years +

1st Crowther’s Skimarque Snowfall Lacie 11 year old white bitch that I could take home. Just so sweet. Good body proportions but would like a tad more leg to balance her out. Feminine head, nice almond shaped eyes and good ears. Single tracked on the move. 

AV Imported Breed Register Pastoral

1st Ridgewell’s Brigam Snow Blanket – BAV Imported Breed Register Pastoral – White Swiss Shepherd Dog – Powerfully built dog, medium bone. Well balanced on the stand presenting an elegant outline. Clean head, parallel in skull to muzzle, slight stop. Almond shaped eyes set slightly oblique. Well set, high ears. Well arched, strong neck leading to sloping shoulders, Level back held on the move. Well angulated hindquarters. Good reach and drive on the move.

2nd West’s Kontrastas Inca Isabell At Shepalian B – RBAV Imported Breed Register Pastoral – White Swiss Shepherd Dog – Lovely feminine head with parallel skull and muzzle. Nice ear set, shape and carriage. Well balanced throughout, level topline held on the move, Good shoulder and hindquarter angulation. Pasterns strong and vertical. Moved well with reach and drive. 

AVNSC Pastoral 

Graduate (4,1)

1st – Warner’s Srenscem Edred’s Edwyna – Lancashire Heeler – Sturdy in build. Flat skull with good width between ears. Parallel planes with skull and muzzle. Nice almond shaped eye. Level top line, well muscled hindquarters. Easy mover.

2nd – Hick’s Shaggybo Sandman At Lanxon – OES – Square and compact in shape. Head proportionate to body with well defined stop. Nice arch to neck. Straight front. Well turned stifle and low set hocks. Moved well.

1st - Sharpe & Dyer’s CH Catsun Comanche Legacy ShCEx - Hungarian Puli – Slightly domed head shape, well placed ears, v-shaped and medium in size. Lovely dark eye and pigment. Well muscled throughout, Well laid shoulders, good level topline , held on the move. Good deep ribs. Well set and carried tail. Typical short stepping movement. Beautiful dark corded coat presented well.

2nd – Reynolds’s Austmans Barb Dwyer With Shardlow JW – Australian Cattle Dog – Compact and well balanced outline. Good broad skull and good length of muzzle, parallel to skull. Dark, oval eye. Muscular neck leading to well laid back shoulders. Good body ratios and good deep chest. Good feet. Moved well with drive. Unlucky to meet winner today. 

Pastoral Group

1st - Sharpe & Dyer’s CH Catsun Comanche Legacy ShCEx - as before

2nd - Biss’s Valaller Strike A Pose – Swedish Vallhund – Nice shape on the stand. Blunt wedge head, square muzzle. Dark, oval eye. Good medium, pointed ears. Level back, long and deep chest. Nice, powerful rear action.

3rd Rivers’s Orora’s French Silk At Merrimak JW - Bearded Collie – Long in body and head in balance to body. Good pigment. Nice arch of neck, deep chest. Week muscled. Covered the ground well with smooth easy action

4th Critchlow’s CH Pavoskas Disco JW – Finnish Lapphund – Good outline, strong head, nicely tapered muzzle. Ears set well apart and used to good effect. Strong, straight, broad back. Moved well

Pastoral Puppy Group

1st – Axford’s Bramblemead Sparkling Lady – Bearded Collie – Lovely girl that took my eye as she came in the ring. Such balance for a youngster. Very nice head, broad skull, flat and square. Muzzle correct length matching distance between stop and occiput. Slight arch to neck leading to well laid shoulders. Good for bone. Nicely developing chest. Well muscled hind quarters with well bent stifle. Good oval feet. Moved very well. 

2nd - Biss’s Valaller Strike A Pose – Swedish Vallhund – as before

3rd Stephens’s Chalksville Made Of Magic For Brightmeadow – German Shepherd Dog – Powerful and well built. Clean head, nice shape and planes. Good high set ears. Good neck length, lowered on the move. Correct body ratios. Well muscled hindquarters. Moved well and very sound. 

4th – Robinson’s Lavika Sunset Rose – Shetland Sheepdog – Elegant head with flat skull, equal length to muzzle. Obliquely set almond eye. Good ear set and shape. Well sprung ribs. Lovely coat. Good mover.

1st – Hawkins’s Serenlas Black Magic – Rough Collie – Nice well balanced head. Almond shape, obliquely set, sweet expression. Small ears, correctly tipped. Good body shape. Correct movement for breed, light and effortless. Good coat.

1st - Sharpe & Dyer’s CH Catsun Comanche Legacy ShCEx - Puli as before 

2nd – Robinson’s CH Lavika Black Beauty JW – Shetland Sheepdog – Elegant and refined head. Lovely ear set and shape. Very good shoulders, very well laid back. Well sprung ribs. Level back, slight slope to croup. Nice, oval feet. Moved well. 

AV Pastoral 10 years + (3)

1st – Hirst’s – Sundark Simply A Star VW - Shetland Sheepdog 10 ½ year old. Nice steady mover. Good ears and expression. Nice oval feet. Good overall shape. 

AV Pastoral Champion (6,2)

1st - Sharpe & Dyer’s CH Catsun Comanche Legacy ShCEx - as before

2nd – Robinson’s CH Lavika Starlight Salute – Shetland Sheepdog – Very good outline. Loved this dogs expression using eyes and ears to advantage. Elegant head with slight stop. Almond shaped, obliquely set eyes. Nicely laid back shoulder. Equal length of upper arm and shoulder blade. Tail set low. Lovely coat. Moved with grace driving from behind. 

Puppy Stakes (49)

1st – Mugford’s Kedalita Abfab For Lynnwood – Irish Setter – Lovely balanced outline on the stand and just took my eye straight away. Feminine head, long and lean with oval skull shape. Good almond, level set eye allowing for a sweet expression. Nice, low set ears of moderate size. Neck developing in muscle and nice, narrow, deep chest. Straight, gently sloping topline. Good length to tail, set just below the level of back. Easy, free mover with rear drive. 

2nd - Caldcott’s Aritaur Cirilla With Philmont – as before

AV Veteran Stakes (15)

1st - Breeze’s Davricard Hummingbird Of Parkebreeway – Beagle – 7 year old bitch. Compact body shape with very nice balanced angles front and rear. Slightly domed skull, well defined stop. Good shape of muzzle. Straight, level topline. Good length of stide, 

2nd – Hooper’s Veredon Veuve Cliquot Avec Torbers – Whippet – 10 year old that was such a lovely outline. Well muscled but remained elegant. Long and lean head. Alert expression. Straight in front, with a deep chest. Definite tuck up. Hindquarters, strong and well muscled. Topline held on the move.
