Tredegar & District Open Show 19th October

Thank you so much to the committee for inviting me to judge at their show. The committee did s sterling job considering the cramped conditions and being strapped for space. My stewards were excellent and kept everything running smoothly.

I was disappointed in a couple of exhibits being presented in very dirty condition and I was concerned about the general condition in these same exhibits. Otherwise, all exhibits were presented in lovely condition, no bad mouths and I found some nice examples of breeds during the day.

Thank you to all who entered under me and accepted my decisions with good humour and grace.

1 - Giblett’s Mischran Cherokee at Sunnymeadow pleasing head with good length of neck into ok shoulder. Nice bone throughout, good depth of chest and ribbed well back. A little long in loin. Rear construction OK. Moved OK in a small ring BOB

1 - Giblett’s Mischran Prime Suspect at Sunnymeadow A bit fine in head for me, but nice eye shape and set with good ears. OK neck into ok shoulder. Ribbed well back, OK top line with correct tailset on the move RBOB

1 - Barganska’s Barbelka Dauntless Spirit (AI) Nicely square young bitch with pretty head and correct ear set. Nice neck into correctly laid shoulder. Strong through out with great top line and tail set. Moved out well in all directions BPIB & RBOB

2 - Williams’ Bowerhinton Buggins Akritiko A nicely shaped dog of larger proportions. I liked his head and dark eye. Pleasing neck into good shoulder. Strong muscles throughout and ok on the move. Out moved by 1 today.

1 - Barganska’s Cealdstan Ancestral Voices of Barbelka (AI) lovely outline to this bitch, well made throughout. Pretty feminine head with lovely ear set and dark eye. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, good bone. Excellent spring of rib and strong top line. Moved well. BOB

1 - Parker’s Vixendax You and Me at Zorionadax (Std Wire Haired Dachshund) - nicely put together bitch with correct angles and nice feet. Pleasing head with correct ear and set. Nice dark eye. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Good top line, held on the move. Strode out well. BPIB

1 - Matthews’ Sonham Fire Cracker (Std Wire Haired Dachshund) - nicely put together hound, balanced throughout. Pleasing masculine head, correct ear. Correct front and rear angulation. Good top line maintained on the move. Super sound in all directions. BOB

2 - Taylor’s Graceminster Rhyme (AI) (Bloodhound)- Moderate hound, pretty head with nice balance and ear set and length. Good neck into good shoulder. Well ribbed with depth and length. Good top line and tail set. Moved well in a small ring.

3 - Turton’s Doucai’s I Agwa Habib At Damoradaxies (Pharaoh Hound)

1 - Turton’s Doucai’s Pagella (Pharaoh Hound)- Nice young bitch of good proportions. Pretty head with correct ear and set. Nice neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest and ribbed well back. Strong in loin and rear. Moved nicely when settled. RBOB 

AV Hound Puppy (8,2)

1 - Murphy’s Bayard Seal of Approval At Rhosyndu (Beagle). Nice male type, pleasing head with mild expression. Good bone throughout. Nice strong neck with lovely gentle arch into good shoulder. Adequate depth of chest and ribbed well back. Correct tail set and carriage, strong topline maintained on the move. Moved soundly in all directions.

1 - Beach’s Izia Klamath Difino (IMP SVN) mini smooth haired dachshund. Nicely made male. Nice balanced head with correct ear and set. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Strong in top line held on the move. Correct angles in front and behind. Moved out well covering the ground.

2 - Price’s Ch Wheelspin Silvershadow Among Silkdance JW (Whippet)- pleasing male whippet, lovely head with correct ear and set. Nice neck into OK shoulder. Good depth of chest and ribbed well back. In fabulous condition and well muscled. Moved soundly. Shame he was showing nervousness today.

3 - Murphy’s Black Royal At Rhosyndu VW

Hound group

1 - Lewis’ Trixhund Ten from Len JW (Std Long Haired Dachshund)- Lovely masculine dog with gorgeous head and dark eye. Strong in muscle through out. Sternum prominent, excellent depth of chest and ribbed well back. Fabulous front and rear angulation, excellent feet. Shown in fabulous condition and coat, moved so soundly in all directions with an air of “look at me”

2 - Hoskins’ Bodoni Kind Of Magic At Shelsue (Whippet)- lovely graceful bitch with a beautiful balanced head. Lovely rose ear and dark eye. Pleasing arch of neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest and ribbed well back, strong in loin and in front and rear. Moved lovely in all directions, it was a close call.

4 - Beach’s Beachdax Girl of My Dreams (Mini Smooth Haired Dachshund)

Hound Puppy Group

1 - Tanner’s Felinoak Griffyn (AI) (Beagle)- lovely made male puppy with gorgeous head with mild appealing expression. Correct length and set of ear, lovely dark eye. Superb neck into correct shoulder, nice bone throughout and in nice condition. Ribbed well back, strong in the loin, correct tail set and carriage. He moved really well in all directions. One to watch!!

2 - Ham’s Ciselsig Hey There Delilah (mini Long Haired Dachshund)- lovely young bitch who caught my eye in the adult group. Loved her head and expression, prominent sternum and ribbed well back. Correct front and rear angulation. Strong in loin and back, correct tail carriage. Excellent feet and moved soundly in all directions.

1 - Kaal’s Rapanooey Rosebank Von Schunikka Pleasing feminine bitch with lovely head. Balanced and symmetrical in outline. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulder, elbows close. Good depth of capacious chest and ribbed well back. Good bone throughout and good straight front and correct rear angulation. Moved the best. BPIB and pleased to hear went UPG3

2 - Richards’ Hafwenna Just as Sane As I Am Nice bitch with a bit more substance than 1. Nice head of fair length and flat skull with lovely expression. Eyes set moderately apart. Good depth of chest, ribbed well back. Strong top line maintained on the move. Good front and rear construction. Shame she paced a little on the move today.

1 - Davies & Corcoran’s Hafwenna King John at Teghafren - nicely proportioned and balanced boy. Liked his balanced head and expression. Nice front and rear angulation, good depth of chest and ribbed well back. Nice top line and tail set, moves soundly in all directions. RBOB

1 - England’s Dalen Queen Of The Seas at Silverspot ShCEx Nicely made bitch balanced and symmetrical throughout, I really like her overall shape. Beautiful head of fair length, flat skull and broad between the ears. She is in fabulous condition. Strong nicely arched neck into good well laid back shoulder. Good depth of chest and ribbed well back. She is strong in the loin which gives her a nice top line which she holds on the move. Moves cleanly in all directions. BOB and heard she went UG2

2 - Williamson & Howard’s Deconda’s Toffee Apple Nice bitch a bit finer throughout than 1. Good length of neck, with nice arch into well laid shoulder. Good depth for chest and ribbed well back. Nice muscling throughout and strong in the loin, gives a nice topline. Good front and rear construction. Moved well.
