Breed: Whippet
Sheringham & District Kennel Association 21st April 2024 Judge: Ms Andrea Gates (Sylphine) Whippets It was a blustery, cold day but the sun was out making for a fantastic, fresh morning. I had the delightful Margie Croly stewarding and making sure the ring ran smoothly. I was very pleased that my Best of Breed winner went on to win Reserve Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show! I had high hopes sending him to the Group ring as he displayed excellent breed type with balance and elegance while having a devil may care attitude about the loud flapping coming from the ring tape. He didn’t disappoint and won his deserved honours. PUPPY WILTON-CLARK’S Shalfleet Oliver Twist – I found my Best of Breed from the puppy class. This 8 month old fawn brindle with white trim male walked into the ring oozing quality and type. He was an excellent blend of elegance and muscular power which he displayed well on the move. He covered the ground easily holding a level topline. He had correct bone with decent lay of shoulder, straight front leading to strong, correctly shaped pasterns and feet. He had strong, well muscled hind quarters and second thigh with excellent bend of stifle. He had a beautiful wedge shaped head, flat on top tapering to a strong muzzle with good underjaw and correct dentition. His neck was long, and he had well placed, small ears and oval shaped eyes, both adding to his alert expression. Proud to reward him BEST OF BREED & BEST PUPPY IN BREED. MORLAND’S Zoraden Master Baker - 10 month old fawn particolour male with pleasing bodylines, superb muscular condition and a beautiful, shining velvet coat. This youngster was strongly built throughout with an excellent lay of shoulder and a well filled, deep chest flowing into a graceful arch over the loin. He had great tuck up, excellent hind angulation and well let down hocks. He displayed correct movement, really striding out when the ring allowed. He had strong jaws, a correct scissor bite and well pigmented eyes and nose leather. Pleased to award him RESERVE BEST OF BREED. LIMIT REECE’S Saleehah Stardancer – 2 1/2 year old fawn brindle & white particolour female. This small statured girl had a graceful silhouette. Her shoulders had correct layback with well filled forechest and excellent bend of stifle. She had adequate bone and a long neck. She had strong pasterns that she used well on the move. She was true coming and going, holding her topline. She had a perfect scissor bite that could use a little more strength of underjaw and dark, oval eyes. PYE’S Blusteren Midnight Ink at Perromono – Almost 7 year old black and white female. Up on leg, delicately built girl. She had correct shaped forelegs but would benefit from a little more bone and muscling throughout. She had steep shoulders and excellent sweeping hind angulation. She moved parallel coming and going holding a level topline but lacked drive. Her head was long with deep underjaw, correct bite and large, strong teeth. She had a sweet disposition and a nice rapport with her handler. OPEN REECE’S Saleehah Moonflower – 5 year old fawn brindle & white particolour female. Well muscled throughout. She had a straight front with strong chest, and ok shoulders. Her hind quarters and second thigh were well muscled. She had small, well placed ears, a correct bite and piercing dark, oval eyes with an alert expression. Moved parallel and with drive. She really looked like she wanted to run and show what a whippet does best.
