LKA Ch show 2024 Dandie Dinmont Terriers

My second time awarding CCs in this lovely breed, temperaments were delightful and oh those eyes, all making it an enjoyable appointment. Good to see a number of younger enthusiasts involved in the breed which must bode well for its future.

PD (3,1abs)

1. Harcourt-Morris’ Dainty Dandies Explorer At Lenacourt. Promising pepper boy, scored here on his more mature body and coat. He was good to go over, super temperament, with an attractive head of good proportions, dark eyes set wide apart and low, ears set well back and correct dentition. He is well made throughout, good length to ribcage, firm loin and tail good for both set and carriage, he just appears a touch level in the topline at the moment, but has plenty of time to develop. He moved true on the up and down and also pleased when viewed in profile. Good quality jacket which was nicely presented.

2. Nettleton’s Waffelins Velorum. Younger mustard boy who is quite raw at the moment, and also has some maturing to do as you would expect and will need time to fill out and develop. Attractive well proportioned head with dark expressive eyes, ears set well back and correct scissor bite. Like his overall length of body, good fore chest and nicely ribbed for his age. Strong legs and good hind angulation. Coat and furnishings are developing, he could carry a bit more weight to advantage which would give him a more curvy outline. Moved out confidently and carried himself well on the go around.

JD (2,1abs)

1. Buckley’s Lovelettie Busy Bean. Pleasing mustard boy, I liked his size and length of body. Masculine head with good breadth to his skull with quite a well domed forehead, expressive eyes giving a lovely expression, pendulous ears set well back and correct dentition. Neck of good length to provide balance, nice layback of shoulder, well ribbed back, strong legs with well let down hocks which enabled him to move out fluidly with good propulsion from the rear. Nicely presented with a good jacket with crisp top coat. He has some maturing to do as you would expect particularly in term of furnishings and spring of rib.

PGD (1,1abs)

LD (2,1abs)

1. Wheeler’s Lenacourt Laird Lochy. Mature pepper boy, with lots to commend him, very nice flowing outline, and shown in lovely double coat and great body condition. His well proportioned masculine head appealed very much with his domed forehead and darkest of expressive eyes. His ears are set on correctly, and he has a strongly made muzzle with big teeth and scissor bite. Strong muscular neck, well ribbed back, standing on strongly boned legs and good feet. His well muscled hindquarters and well let down hocks enabled him to move out with an easy stride and good propulsion from the rear. Good quality jacket and presentation. Happy to award him the RDCC.

OD (2,1abs)

1. Butcher’s Ch Mishahda Mischief Managed. Top quality mustard boy, instantly appeals for his breed typical long and ‘weaselly’ outline with nice rise over the loin. Masculine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, well domed forehead, very expressive eyes of good size, colour and placement, big strong teeth, well set on pendulous ears topped off by a silky topknot. Strong neck, leading into well laid shoulders, deep chest with good ribbing which extends well back. He has firm, muscular hindquarters with well let down hocks and his tail is correct for both set and carriage. His double coat was very well presented and carrying just the right of muscle and body condition. Sound as a bell on the go around and very stylish with good ground covering action. A proper little showman with a ‘look at me attitude’ gave him the edge today. Pleased to award him the DCC and BOB.

SBD (2,1abs)

1. Nettleton’s Waffelins Velorum- Best Special Beginner- see puppy dog notes

VD/B (2,1abs)

1. Harcourt-Morris’ Int Ch Dainty Dandies Royal Dutch Emma. 10 ½ years mustard girl, who has a pleasing outline and a charming temperament. Feminine all through, she was good to go over with a good length of neck to balance, characteristic topline, ribbed well back, firm loin and tail good for set and carriage. Nicely proportioned feminine head with good breadth to skull, expressive eyes, pendulous ears set well back and strong muzzle. Well presented coat, her topcoat is not quite as crisp now. She is keen and active on the move and carries herself so well as she goes around. Best Veteran in Breed.

PB (5,2abs)

1. Sleight’s Finamor's Voulez Vous With Bonnybeck. A quality feminine mustard girl who caught my eye as soon as she came into the ring, she was good to go over with a delightful temperament. Felt that she had the edge in this class in terms of maturity of body and coat. I liked her ‘weaselly’ body shape with typical rise over the loin, strong neck, good ribbing, well muscled hindquarters, and she is good for both tail set and carriage. She has a lovely head with well domed forehead, eyes of good size and colour and a strong muzzle with a good bite. She stands well and and on the go around, she strode out confidently with good reach in front and drive from behind, Good quality coat for her age too. Nothing exaggerated in this bitch and she impressed me enough to award her Best Puppy in Breed and the RBCC.

2. McGuinness’ Diamondandie Ruby Sunrise. Younger mustard girl who has some maturing to do as you would expect. Attractive and well proportioned head, dark eyes set wide apart and low, ears set well back and correct bite. She has a good overall length of body, good fore chest, well ribbed back for her age. Quite a good topline but not quite as flexible and curvy as that of winner as yet. Nicely angulated rear and her tail is set on well. Moved out confidently and freely. Just needs time to fill out and drop in the chest. Her coat and furnishings are developing nicely.

3. Dickinson’s Redgreet Violet

JB (3,1abs)

1. Buckley’s Lovelettie Full Of Beans. Pretty and typy mustard girl who had the more shapely breedy outline. She has a strong muscular neck, well laid shoulders, nicely ribbed back with good length to her body, and a typical topline with slight rise over her firm loins, and her tail is correct for set and carriage. Her feminine head is well proportioned, with good breadth to her skull, well placed dark expressive eyes and correct dentition. Keen and energetic mover, looking particularly good in profile. Good texture to her well presented jacket and a charming character too.

2. Poole’s Dryfevalley Matilda. Pepper girl, with some developing still to do in terms of coat and furnishings, and carrying a little too much weight over her ribs. Feminine head of good proportions, very well balanced with large dark expressive eyes of correct set and strong muzzle. Nice layback of shoulder, she is well ribbed back, with a good fore chest and length of body, pleasing angulation and stands on good feet. Moves out well on the go around but not quite the rear action of the winner. Delightful temperament.

PGB (4,2abs)

1. McGuinness’ Diamondandie Blue Sapphire. Mustard girl, who appealed for her overall type and ‘weaselly’ outline, with strong neck which is well set into her shoulders, good length to ribcage, and well developed thighs and nicely let down hocks. She can stand a little untidily in front on the stack. Well proportioned feminine head, large dark eyes placed low down in skull, ears set on well, her topknot could be a little more profuse. Good texture to her jacket and nicely presented. Moved out energetically with good ground covering action and a super temperament too.

2. Cutler’s Poppipetalz Xanadu. Pretty pepper girl who is slightly heavier all through than the winner and could lose a little weight to her advantage. Attractive, well proportioned head with lovely expression, very feminine yet with strength, eyes of good size and colour, strong muzzle and good dentition. Strong muscular neck, pleasing topline and she stand well in front with good chest and ribbing. Moving well enough all through. Good texture to her jacket.

LB (4,3abs)

1. Butcher’s Bonnybeck I'm No Muggle At Huffletuft. A very appealing pepper girl, of great quality and breed type. Pleasing outline with her with muscular neck, long curved flexible body, good ribbing which extends well back and her tail is correct for both set and carriage. Beautiful head and expression, and those large round dark eyes have the most melting expression, her ears are correctly set and she has a strong muzzle and big strong teeth. Her muscular neck, flows nicely into well laid shoulders, her forelegs set wide apart to accommodate her fore chest and she has firm, muscular hindquarters with well let down hocks. Beautifully presented coat of good texture. Scored highly on the move, very sound with a free and easy stride. Pleased to award her the BCC and delighted to be told afterwards that this was her third and crowning CC subject to RKC confirmation.

OB (3 )

1. Jackman’s Dryfevalley Willow At Carnkie. Feminine mustard girl of good quality and who appealed for her size and overall proportions. Lovely head and expression, good skull to muzzle proportions, full round eyes which are set wide apart, her ears are correctly set, with a strong muzzle and correct scissor bite. Strong muscular neck, her ribs are well sprung and well ribbed back, strong loins and well angulated rear. She was very well presented with a good textured double coat. She moved out freely and with nice easy stride on the go around, she was close up in the challenge for RBCC, just preferred the sightly more flexible and curvy outline of the puppy.

2. Bell’s Cofgodas Beurre D'avalon. Another mustard girl who appealed for her size and good length of body with a pleasing curvy outline and with such a lovely temperament. Well balanced head with good proportions and enough breath to her skull, large dark expressive eyes, her topknot appeared a bit over trimmed and could be a left a little more profuse. Nice muscular neck, ribbed well back, strong loin, low hocks and good tail set. Moving out with a good stride and carries herself well, a touch close behind going away. Good texture to her jacket, just needed a bit more furnishings to complete the picture.

3. McCain’s Blue Violet Flower At Bankwillow (Imp Rus)

SBB (1)

1. Dickinson’s Redgreet Violet. Pretty pepper puppy, giving quite a bit away in terms of maturity of coat and body in her puppy class. She has a good neck and shoulders, nice length of body with some curves and well made hindquarters which are quite well muscled for her age. Her head is of good proportions with feminine expression and large dark expressive eyes. She has some maturing to do as you would expect particularly in term of her coat, furnishings and spring of rib when she will look more balanced. On the go around, she carried herself well, with confidence and with plenty of energy.
