Boston Championship Show 2024

Terrier Group

Many thanks to the Committee of Boston Ch show for giving me the opportunity to judge my first Terrier Group at this level and what a treat was in store with some great examples of breeds on show. A strong group, I could have picked more for my shortlist but decided to select 8 for a closer look. My shortlist included the Cairn Terrier, Inett and Harrison’s Carradine Piccadd Lilly, a totally feminine and unexaggerated girl, presented beautifully and went round the ring effortlessly holding her outline, the Cesky Terrier Tobijanski ‘s Ch Janski O'Rolox JW, typical topline with slight rise over loin, impressive on the move and in immaculate coat and condition, the Norwich Terrier Crawley & Baldwin ‘s Ch Ragus Punch Bowl, a super dog, judged him as a youngster and he’s certainly fulfilled his early promise and now fully mature, coat and overall condition was A1 and he moved out with good ground covering action and the Skye Terrier Curtis’ Ch Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill JW OSW, I’ve admired this girl from ringside and hands on she is so well made which reflects in her smooth flowing movement with good reach and drive, beautifully presented and very attractive headpiece.

Group 1. O'Donnell's Ch Blackdale Show Queen. Fox Terrier (Wire). This girl caught my eye the minute she entered the ring, fabulous head, keen expression and well placed ears. Her long neck flows nicely into her short coupled body with great tail set. Presentation was of such a very high standard, and she has such ring presence she’s hard to ignore, she really couldn’t put a foot wrong and I was delighted to award her the group.

Group 2. Burns’ Ch Burneze Mad About The Girl. West Highland White Terrier. Gorgeous girl, very showy and feminine with her beautifully presented jacket, attractive head and expression, with neat ears and the darkest of eyes. Short coupled with strong well muscled rear, which enabled her to make the most of herself on the move.

Group 3. Wilberg’s Ch Kanix Quickstep. Fox Terrier (Smooth). Another eye catching girl,  excellent head properties with the darkest of eyes, giving a keen expression. Clean neck and shoulders, short coupled with tail bang on top. She is such a showgirl and moves out with effortless with drive.

Group 4. Caltabiano’s Balboa Leonida. Kerry Blue Terrier. The only male to make the final line-up, lovely headed dog, masculine with keen dark eye and well placed ears. Nice reach of neck into well placed shoulders, topline kept on the move, tail bang on top. Shown in full coat and fit hard condition. Moved out well.
