British Bullmastiff League Championship show 10th May 2024

I would like to thank the officers and committee of the BBL for asking me to judge their championship show. It was well run and the friendly atmosphere made it a pleasure to judge. I would also like to thank the exhibitors who entered under me . There were some beautiful dogs and some hard decisions on the day.

Trudy Talbot

Veteran dog (1). 1st Marshall & Tankards Ch Stoneglad Jumping Jack Flash at Verosa JW ShCM ShCEx VW. This boy really enjoyed his time in the ring. Broad square head with fair wrinkle and great dentition. Good strong neck and depth of chest leading to well boned front. Well sprung ribs and good width of loin. Fair angulation. Correct tailset and carriage. Moved with drive. RBV

Minor puppy dog (5,1). 1st Trims Royceprides Habernero Hot. Nicely proportioned head with strong mask and dark eyes. Well laid back shoulders and fair drop of chest for one so young. Good rear angulation and moved out well with obvious enthusiasm. Good topline for age. One to watch for the future.

2nd Latters Stoneglad Gigolo. Strong head with dark mask and good level bite. Good width of chest with plenty of bone and strong feet. Well sprung ribs leading to well muscled back end with fair angulation. Moved out well just slightly looser than 1st which I’m sure will improve with age.

3rd Lomaxs Stoneglad seduction

Puppy dog (3,0). 1st McGroartys Ardhub in his stride. A lovely square young dog with plenty of bone all round. Correct head proportions with dark eyes and good dentition. Strong front and correct lay of shoulder. Nice spring of rib and strong back end with fair angulation. Moved with drive. Another to watch for the future I feel. BPD

2nd Lindleys Hyerdunscar all about Keith. Strong head with beautiful dark mask and eyes. Good drop of chest for age with strong front and tight feet. Well sprung ribs and good width of loin. Broad hindquarters which propelled him round the ring. Held topline well. A powerful young man just slightly unsettled on the day.

3rd Fasciones Reesleys Take it to the top at Fasden

Junior dog (2,1). 1st Colliass’ Red Pheonix at Oldwell. Strong square head with Dark eyes and good dentition. Well boned front leading to strong pasterns and tight feet. Correct lay of shoulder with well sprung ribcage and balanced hindquarters. Moved out well holding topline on the move.

Post graduate dog (5,2). 1st Brearleys Fowlerheights Artax at Tatroyds. Square head with correct earset and excellent bite. Good drop of chest with well boned front and strong pasterns. Correct shoulder placement and well sprung ribs. Fair rear angulation and balanced hindquarters. Moved out well holding level topline. Great rapport between handler and dog which I loved.

2nd Bighams Daisonville I’m your man. Strong head with excellent dentition .Good width of chest with well boned front and tight feet. Well arched neck leading to well placed shoulder set and good width of loin. Strong well angulated hindquarters. Held topline well on the move. Would have preferred slightly stronger mask.

3rd Williams’ Diablo Sivola

Limit dog (6,0). 1st Beals Emsuart Rocketman JW. A very strong class full of quality dogs and for me this boy stood out. Not overdone in any way just a well balanced dog all round. Square head with strong mask and good stop showing wide nostrils and square underjaw. Good reach of neck laying on well set shoulders. Good drop of chest framed by well boned legs with strong pasterns, Well sprung ribs and wide loin. Powerful rear end with excellent angulation with drove him round the ring holding his topline well. I was pleased to award him DCC and BIS.

2nd Latters Stoneglad Cassanova. Another strong dog with excellent head. Strong dentition set in wide underjaw. Correct black mask with dark eye and fair wrinkle. Good drop of chest with well boned front and strong pasterns. Lovely wide ribcage and loin leading to muscular rear end with fair angulation. Correct tailset held level on the move. Good reach when moved out.

3rd Warrens Copperfield Dubbley

Open dog (6,1). 1st Popp & Myers’ CH Optimus Thomas Morse of Penychen ShCEx. An overall strong well muscled dog. Square balanced head with good mask and correct ear placement, Good reach of neck leading to well laid back shoulders. Wide well boned front with strong pasterns and tight feet. Well sprung ribs and muscular hindquarters which showed in his powerful hind drive when moved out. Held topline on the move. I was pleased to award him RDCC.

2nd Freshneys CH Hyerdunscar Renaissance for Bullenca. On another day this dog could have easily swapped places with 1st. Well proportioned head with clear black mask. Good dentition set in wide underjaw. Well arched neck with deep chest and straight legs showing plenty of bone. Tight feet. Wide ribcage and loin leading to well balanced hind quarters which showed in his straight and strong movement. Well handled.

3rd McGroartys Ardhub Ethan

Veteran Bitch (2,0). 1st Myers’ Optimus Pandora JW (AI). This bitch did not give away her age on the day . Feminine head with lovely expression and bright eyes. Good reach of neck down to well laid shoulders. Deep chest with straight well boned legs on upright pasterns. Good spring of rib and strong hindquarters. Moved out well for her age holding her topline. BVIS

2nd Thomas & Bulls CH Optimus Euphoria. Another bitch who did not show her age. Feminine head with wide underjaw and correct ear placement. Good reach of neck leading to correct lay of shoulder and straight front on strong pasterns. Nice spring of rib with strong well muscled hindquarters which powered her round the ring. She was really on her toes!

Minor puppy bitch (1,1). 1st Latters Stoneglad shes all that. This young lady stood alone but deserved her first place. A beautiful feminine head and expression with strong mask and good dentition. Wide solid front with plenty of bone and tight feet. Nice lay of shoulder with strong ribcage and well muscled rear end. Short coupled. For one so young her movement was exceptional and Im sure we will be seeing much more of her in the future. Was pleased to award her BPB & BPIS

Puppy Bitch (8,1). 1st Colliass’ Hyerdunscar Charmed by Oldwell. Feminine head with dark mask and eyes. Good dentition and well set ears. Nice reach of neck leading to strong deep chest well boned legs and upright pasterns. Well sprung ribs and strong loin. Well muscled hindquarters which propelled her round the ring holding her topline. A nicely balanced young bitch.

2nd Trims Satisfaction dell urbe immortale Roycepride (IMP ITA). Smaller bitch than 1st but well proportioned and square in appearance. Balanced head with dark eyes and well set ears. Well arched neck straight front and tight feet. Good spring of rib and well defined hindquarters for such a young bitch. Moved with drive and purpose.

3rd Roberts Joybull Calamity Jayne

Junior bitch (1,1). 1st Williams’ Kierlaceyan Emma Jayne. Compact bitch with strong head and alert expression. Good drop of chest and straight front . Nice spring of rib and short coupled. Well angulated in rear. Moved well and held topline on the move. A balanced bitch.

Yearling bitch (2,0). 1st Geurts & Abens The nightshifts Miss world (ATC BA46981NLD). Niceley balanced head with black mask. Good width to underjaw showing excellent bite. Good reach of neck leading to well placed shoulders and straight front with strong pasterns and tight feet. Well sprung ribs leading to well muscled rear and second thigh. Moderate angulation. Feminine bitch who moved with drive and held topline well .

2nd Astons Saphira de Terras lusitanas Astonpride (IMP PRT). Powerful bitch of substance. Lovely head with well muscled cheeks and strong mask. Good dentition and fair wrinkle. Strong arched neck with good drop of chest showing a straight strong front construction. Excellent spring of rib with wide loin and muscular rear end . Well angulated and moved with drive. Made the handler work hard.

Post graduate bitch (4,3). 1st Fasciones Fowlerheight Azra Fasden. Balanced head with dark eyes and well placed ears. Strong neck with good shoulders and front construction. Nice spring of rib and well angulated hindquarters. Held topline well when moved. Showed in lovely fit condition and well handled.

Limit bitch (6,1). 1st Astons Angels phoenix Hermione Granger Astonpride (IMP ITA). Solid well muscled bitch with lots of attitude. Strong head type with well filled cheeks and dark mask. Good drop of chest and plenty of bone in front. Nice tight feet. Well sprung ribs and muscular rear end with good angulation. Good tailset. Moved soundly with drive and held topline.

2nd Latters Stoneglad shes a rebel. Slightly smaller that 1st but still a substantial bitch. Feminine head and expression with strong mask and wide underjaw. Good lay of shoulder leading to Wide chest and straight front. Well up on pasterns. Good spring of rib and width of loin. Nicely muscled hindquarters

with correct angulation. Moved well with drive and purpose.

3rd Reader & Bowns Sundabish Belle Amour JW

Open bitch (9,0). 1st Geurts & Abens CH Joybull Miss Dynamite NJK. A beautiful feminine bitch. Lovely balanced head with correct black mask and kind expression. Good reach of neck accentuated by well placed shoulders and a strong straight front assembly. Nice spring of rib with width to loin and strong but still feminine hindquarters. Correct tailset. Her movement was balanced and level showing drive from the rear. I was pleased to award her BCC & RBIS.

2nd Latters CH Stoneglad shes just my style. Another class where 1st and 2nd could easily have swapped places on another day. Nicely balanced bitch who showed beautifully. Strong head showing correct width to underjaw and good dentition. Dark mask and eyes completed the picture. Strong front assembly with plenty of bone and drop to chest. Well sprung ribs leading to strong back and rear construction powered by well angulated hind legs. Moved out well holding topline. Was pleased to award her RBCC

3rd Myers’ CH Paris de L’arche des loups anges avec Optimus (IMP FRA)
