Havanese Club of Great Britain – Championship Show - 20.10.24
Thanks to the Officers and Committee of the Havanese Club of Great Britain for the invitation to judge their Championship Show. It was a super venue and the show was very well organised, having two Championship shows in one day. Thanks to my fantastic steward Dianne Mottram who kept everything in order and her support was invaluable.
I was particularly pleased with the entry (as I know the Club was).
Just a couple of observations. In general terms I found a number of exhibits longer cast which detracts from the specific requirement for the outline to be slightly longer in body than height at the withers. The second observation is a positive one. I found all exhibits to have such charming personalities and indeed their owners were extremely sporting in the manner in which they accepted their placings.
Thank you all for a lovely entry and your generous sportsmanship. I had a lovely day, honoured to be invited as your judge, and to have been given the opportunity to assess quality dogs.
Minor Puppy Dog 3
1. Miles’s Adorele Storming To Glory. 7 months. Produces a very attractive profile and is a very eye catching puppy. Balanced in head, it is masculine with dark eyes giving such a gentle expression. Good dentition. Correct neck, shoulders are well laid and body is balanced. Accurate positive mover. There is clearly more to come as he matures but could not be denied the RCC, BPD & BPIS.
2. Carter’s Newtonwood Rock With You. 9 months. Coming together well. He is balanced with correct bone and substance. Holds a secure topline and well set tail. Good for dentition. Giving a little away to 1 in maturity but he is very promising.
3. Thorne’s Bailemos Piano Man At Dyffrynsands.
Puppy Dog 1
1. Thorne’s Bailemos Piano Man At Dyffrynsands. 8 months. Attractive masculine head containing dark appealing eyes; good dentition. Enough neck. Just a tad longer cast. Good for ribbing. High set tail. In profuse puppy coat. Steady on the move.
Junior Dog 1
1. Harper-Dediu’s Immeleon Iced Latte. 13 months. Attractive head with balanced muzzle and flat cheeks. Large bright eyes with dark pigmentation. Body is well built for age, with ample spring of rib; good tuck up. Correct topline. Tail well set & carried well. Coat is correct for age. Steady mover.

1. Walker’s Newtonwood Double Dare of Follyglen. 2 ½. Impressive dog. Classic masculine head without being overdone and containing dark almond shape eyes producing a lovely expression. Gold/white coat which was well presented. Clean front, well laid shoulders and correct topline. Nicely textured coat. Impressive on the move.

Open Dog 8,2
1. Harris’s Tiggerfield Jack Flash At Mantafield. Fit 6 year old. Appealing head containing dark expressive eyes. Ears set on well and correct dentition. Whilst he might be considered slightly on the larger side, his overall shape and balance is textbook. Excellent neck and shoulders; well bodied. Best Opposite Sex In show.
