Scottish Pug Dog Club 50th Anniversary Show Sunday 06 October 2024

Bitches

Thanks to the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge this their 50th Anniversary Championship Show. I was delighted with my entry in respect of number of entries and quality. My summitted health report, required by the KC, reported no health concerns found on the day.

Baby Puppy Bitch 2

1. Pike & Pritchard’s Empugrium It’s All Peach With Eivsha. 5 months, well grown and quite charming. Pleasing eye and expression. Good substance and broad deep rib cage, firm topline and moderate angulation. Moved beautifully. Best Baby PB.

2. Arnold-Stronge’s Snuggepug Britannia. 4 months. Lovely feminine expression with square muzzle. Firm topline. Accurate on the move but clearly appeared tired after a long day. Very promising.

Minor Puppy Bitch 1

1. Reynold’s Croftren Chasing Highs. 7 months. Expressive head, good sized eyes aiding typical expression. Good for muzzle, wrinkle and pigment. Well-made body. Secure strong topline. Stylish on the move. Best PB.

2. Forbes’s Jobeile Dreamsurprise. 8 months. Liked her balanced head and short square muzzle. Strong, slightly arched neck, good shoulders and neat strong front. Topline to strengthen. High set tail. Moved well. Close call.

Puppy Bitch 1

1. Bailey’s Bilokha Baby Browning. 15 months. Appealing head with soft expression. Square muzzle, Moderate angulations throughout. Secure topline. Pleasing for overall substance. At this stage of development would just prefer slightly shorter coupling. Impressive mover.

Junior Bitch 2

1. McCaleny’s Macmoore Bobbiesgirl. 15 months. Good for overall size and shape. Super coat. Cobby body, good neck and shoulders. Feminine expression with complimentary black mask. Good for ear set. Moved very well maintaining her impressive outline.

2. Reynolds & Morley’s Afterglow I Dream of Jeanie At Lizlanmor. 15 months. Another nice youngster. Excellent head qualities with well-defined wrinkles. Good for substance, bone and condition. Close call between two nice exhibits but just preferred the overall balance of 1. Moved well, coming and going.

Yearling Bitch 3

1. Rutherford’s Ch Bilohka Dawn Patrol With Potbelli JW. 18 months. Head contains beautiful, dark, expressive eyes, enhanced by her markings. Sturdy neck into well laid shoulders. Broad chest. Body with well sprung ribs and strong, secure level topline. Well set tail with secure twist. Produces such a balanced profile when standing. She moved well, with good reach and typical roll of hindquarters. Short, correctly textured coat. BCC.

2. Briddon & Fisher’s Briddish Kiki Dee. 15 months. Pretty feminine head with a enough underjaw, dark round eyes and plenty of working. Ample reach of neck above well laid shoulders. Secure backline. Not as short coupled as 1. Well-muscled throughout; has a good turn of stifle. She moved accurately and always at one with her handler.

3. Dawson-Payne & Mousley’s Judamie Thelma Jean.

Novice Bitch 3

1. Cannon & Burroughs’s Flashnik Fenella Fellorick. 1 year. Clear fawn and of a lovely size. Liked her head qualities and in particular, her dark expressive eyes. Square strong muzzle. OK for pigment. Steady on the move demonstrating typical roll. Secure topline. High set, tight curled tail. Super coat.

2. Rutherford’s Afterglow Dreamsicle With Potbelli. Her head is balanced in proportion to body, round in shape and with a square muzzle. Strong, nicely arched neck, good for substance and bone, straight front. Rear has a good turn of stifle. When standing just preferred the overall balance of 1. Moved very well.

Graduate Bitch 3

1. Ellenor’s Afterglow Dream Topping At Roesclan JW. 15 months. Super for head qualities and contain beautiful eyes. Good for neck. Cobby and compact with a broad chest and well sprung ribs. Well set, tightly curled tail. Strong bone. Impressive mover.

2. Briddon & Fisher’s Briddish Kiki Dee. 2nd in YB.

3. McCahill’s Zobear Bumblebee At Dracchenfel (NAF).

Special Post Graduate (Black) 1

1. Cogan’s Sunlea Minnie The Minx. 3 years. Lots to like. Good for substance and has a broad deep rib cage, firm topline and moderate angulation throughout. She moved freely and maintained a pleasing outline on the move. Super jacket.

Limit Bitch 4 1.

1. Cannon & Burroughs’s Pugistie Queen Bee At Flashnik. 2 years. Square in outline, cobby and compact. Large ultra feminine head with gorgeous eyes. She has bone and substance, all in proportion. She simply demands attention. Her smooth pale fawn coat is complimented by the darkest of pigmentation. Moved extremely soundly maintaining a secure topline. High tail set. Champion quality and could not be denied the RCC.

2. Hogan’s Megmolu Juicy Lucy For Baclaudi. 2 years. Another with many virtues to admire. Well-made, shapely with a cobby body and short strong loins. Tail is high set. Appealing head with lovely eyes finished with a wide muzzle. Super coat texture. She moved very well and demonstrated a precise, unexaggerated forehand.

Open Bitch 3

1. Storey’s Ch Rhodenash Kotten Kopy JW. 6 years. My notes state ‘heads you win’! Correctly proportioned. Cobby throughout with a broad chest and well sprung ribs. Secure topline. Well set and tightly curled tail. Her movement is ideal, moving out well in front, utilizing her well-turned stifle demonstrating typical roll behind. In super condition.

2. Storey’s Ch Rhodenash Stella Dreams Of Eivisah JW. 6 years. Very similar in type to 1 and the same comments apply, but just preferred the head and expression of 1. Beautifully conditioned and moved superbly.

Special Open Bitch (Fawn)

1. Reynold’s Croftren Sky’s The Limit JW. 3 years. Her head is worth a second look as it is of a good size and continues lustrouis dark eyes. Head is finished with a super muzzle. Excellent pigmentation. When standing she is so well balanced. Careful, accurate mover.

2. Cannon & Burroughs’s Bringiton Baijiu At Flashnik. 3 years and another one producing such a balanced outline. Cobby body, ample ribbing and high set twist. Dark, appealing eyes. Good for muzzle and breadth of underjaw. Not quite as precise as 1 going away. Presented in beautiful condition.

3. Cowie’s Ch Afterglow Esther La Vista.

Special Open Bitch (Black)

1. Timbury’s Pleasantnook Gifts Fia. 3 years. Lovely to examine. Good for conformation, sound front and rear. Well-constructed body. Ideal coat texture. Pleasing head and eye with good width of muzzle and excellent chin, well-boned legs. BBB.

Veteran Bitch 4

1. Storey’s Ch Rhodenash Gloria. Now 10 years and several years ago, a recipient of the CC & BOB from me. Full of quality, she oozes breed type. Head is textbook. She is square, cobby, strong boned and decidedly feminine. Presented in superb condition. BVB & BVIS.

2. Bailey’s Ch Hattella Tulip at Lampugs JW. 8 She sports a wonderful coat synonymous with her breeding. Beautiful head and eyes. Square and cobby, nicely sprung ribs, secure level topline. Strong front and hindquarters, ample bone and good turn of stifle. She moved well. Another very worthy champion.

Minor Puppy Dog 4,1

1. Arnold-Stronge’s Snugglepug Bee On The Ball. 7 months. Shapely, and smart being of a lovely size for age. Attentive showman which just gave him the edge over 1. Good breadth of chest and length of rib. Very typical on the move with a slight, unexaggerated roll. Should do well. BPD

2. O’Leary’s Haselorhill First Edition From Mopszawawa. 8 months another very nice puppy with a lot to like. Sound front and rear, typical head with super muzzle aiding typical expression. Moved well. Close call.

3. Dean’s Jobiele An Struithain At Uisdean

Puppy Dog 1

1. Howe’s Chandshar Fab Frankie. 10 months. Cobby with a good sized skull, expressive dark round eyes. Open nostrils. Good body and ribbing. Sturdy legs set well under the body. Pleasing feet. Excellent coat. Forehand just needs to settle.

Junior Dog 2,1

1. Turnbull’s Nicobri’s Lord Of The Rings JW. 14 months. An impressive youngster with a good sized well pigmented head, containing a correct nose pad with open nostrils. Wrinkles to boot. Beautifully expressive dark round eyes but maintaining masculinity. Small neat ears. Textbook neck and shoulders. Compact body with broad rib and loin, good depth of chest. He is at optimum weight. Coat length and texture is excellent. Moved freely and proudly all directions, at all times maintaining his beautifully balanced outline. A Champion in the making. RCC & RBIS.

Yearling Dog 4,1

1. Arnold-Stronge’s Samlynryes Take A Chance with Snugglepug. 14 months. Fairly large, masculine skull with round, lustrous eyes and small neat ears. Excellent pigmentation, and breadth of jaw. Good chest and a compact well ribbed body. Super short coat. He is a careful, stylish mover and when standing produces a textbook shape and balance. CC, BOB & BIS.

2. Dawson-Payne & Mousely’s Judamie El Santos. 20 months. Impressive when standing he produces a lovely outline. Masculine head containing expressive dark eyes and good pigment but not yet the finish of 1. Neat velvety ears. Good turn of stifle. When settled he moved well.

3. McAleny’s Cedilla On The Road Again at Macmoore JW.

Novice Dog 3,2

1. Cannon & Burroughs’s Flashnik Sweet Talking Guy. 1 year old. Produces a lovely shape. Good size to head but would prefer a more masculine expression. Enough crest to neck. Well bodied. Tail is well set with sufficient twist. On the move he really comes into his own.

Graduate Dog 3

1. Walker’s Afterglow Wild West Hero at Sunlea. 15 months. Lovely for size and produced the best shape and balance in the class. Head gives typical expression from good sized eyes. Good nose. Strong pigment and neat ears. Compact and cobby. Powerful and free on the move.

2. McAleny’s Macmoore Moving On. 15 months of good size. Head is well-shaped and contains dark eyes giving lively expression; neat ears. Good for neck and tail set. Not quite as compact in outline as 1. Good profile action on the move.

3. Cairn’s Anzhela Scent Francis.

Special Post Graduate Black Dog 1

1. Black’s Megipugis Greatest Showman. 5 years and clearly mature. Excellent coat qualities. Super expressive eyes. Typical balanced outline; pleasing depth of rib, nice width to loin. Secure topline. Tail well set. Moved OK.

Limit Dog 3

1. Reynold’s Eastonite Aramis Croftren JW. 2 years. Masculine head and expression with lovely eyes; nice finish to jaws and muzzle. Super short coat of correct texture. Well ribbed. Would prefer him a tad shorter coupled. Sound and very accurate on the move which gave him the edge. He shows to advantage.

2. Cannon & Burroughs’s Rewbiehills Pop Master At Flashnik. 2 years and another with a super coat. Very expressive masculine head with good nose pad and wrinkle, beautiful eyes and strong pigment. Well set crested neck, good ribbing, nice twist and firm top and underlines. His movement let him down today. Close call.

3. Mitchell & Willis’s Taftazini Pastuchovii.

Open Dog 5,2

1. Dawson-Payne & Mouseley’s Judamie Eltons Sun JW. Really impressive on the stand as he produces such a lovely balanced shape. Pleasing, masculine head with all the essentials and especially his pigmentation. Super for neck and front assembly. Strong rib cage and loins. Compactly built. Stylish mover but in the hotly contested challenge, he was wide going away which may have been attributed to a very tiring day. Notwithstanding he is a lovely dog.

2. Rutherford’s Ch Potbelli Limited Edition JW OSW. 3 years old and a worthy champion. Cobby and compact, very nicely balanced and of a lovely size. Sturdy legs and good feet. Good sized skull with a pleasing expression but just preferred the work and finish contained in the head of 1. Super tail set. Sound honest mover and the ultimate showman. Close call.

3. Mitchell & Willis’s Taftazini Pastuchovii.

Special Open Fawn Dog

1. Pike, Hill & Mallinson’s Ch Eivisah Sonnentanz JW. 2 years, upstanding and all male but not overdone. Carries himself proudly. Good sized skull containing expressive round dark eyes; well wrinkled and dark pigmentation to boot. Well ribbed, high tail set, secure topline and straight front. Moved well.

2. Briddon & Fisher’s Chandsar Me and Bobby McGee At Briddish JW. He was totally uncooperative on the table which was a real pity. I admired his head qualities. He has good breadth to chest, secure topline and high set tail with a correct twist. Looked particularly smart in profile when he was settled. He clearly was not at his best on the move and I suspect the long day had clearly taken its toll.

3. Cairn’s Pulchra Changing The Guard.

Special Open Black Dog 3

1. Arnold-Stronge’s Snugglepug In His Stride. 2 years. Beautiful head with ample wrinkling, dark eyes and neat velvety ears. Scored in producing steady, typical movement, both coming and going. Gleaming jet black, short soft coat. Attractive head and expression. Steady forehand movement was aided from well laid shoulders. Well bodied but no more weight needed. High set double twist to tail. Strong accurate mover. Best BD.

2. Black’s Megipugis Greatest Showman. 1st Special Post Graduate Black Dog.

3. Newsome’s Snugglepug In His Stride.

Veteran Dog 2

1. Johnston’s Riajae On The Brink JW ShCM. 7 ½. Good shape to head and his dark round eyes are of a decent size. Nice work in the head and pigment to enhance. When standing he looked good for both balance and shape. Tail a tad loose on the move. Presented in great condition. He moved well. BVD.

2. MacAleny’s Ch Macmoore Mr Tamberine Man JW ShCM. 8 years. In super coat and condition. Masculine head with soft expression, lots of wrinkle and excellent pigment. Neat velvety ears. Good turn of stifle. Liked his overall shape and balance. Moved OK. Close call between two lovely, but different, veteran dogs.
