My first time awarding CCs in this delightful breed and huge thanks to exhibitors for their support, the entry topping the group. The quality was high and with some huge classes, I was splitting hairs for top honours. For me I was looking for dogs that were of correct proportion and had the correct smooth and long reaching action, as expected in a breed designed to work over gruelling conditions in all weathers. Whilst the beardie has always had a good length to its coat, its is supposed to serve a purpose and enhance the shape, not hide it. I felt some exhibits were rather over coated and some surprisingly not well groomed, the under coat being matted in some. Delighted with my main winners and sadly there were others who really caught my eye who had to be content with lower places today.
