Chinese Chow Club
Breed: Chow Chow
This was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The officers and committee had chosen to have a “Mad Hatters Team Party Theme” for the show and no efforts were spared in making sure that everyone felt welcome and had a pleasant time. I was blessed with two very good stewards in Roger Fowler and Marion Sargent. On to the dogs…. temperaments were excellent, just one bitch was a little shy (not ill-tempered) when having her mouth examined. All the dogs were clean and well presented. A small handful had rather laboured, noisy breathing and some of the hind action left a little to be desired. Lots of lovely clean eyes and very attractive expressions. Some grand puppies in both sexes. It was lovely to hear applause after every class and I thank all of the exhibitors for their good manners and sportsmanship.
Minor Puppy Dog
1 Irwing’s Beaconpride Trick or Treat. Best Puppy in Show. This youngster provided me with a really good start to the day. Beautifully balanced with good bone, and small tight feet. Flat skull; dark, clean eyes and an appealing expression. Broad chest and good body for age. Moved well. Shown in tip top condition and both he and his handler really made the most of their chances.
2 Markville’s Kingrock Blue Steel. Best Smooth Dog. Another handsome, well-balanced puppy. Good skull with well set ears. Excellent pigmentation. Strong neck and decent depth and breadth of chest. Dense double coat and in profile his movement was most typical.
Puppy Dog
1 Jolly’s Poppykins Solid Gold for Doolish. Typical in all respects with a flat, broad skull, clean dark eyes and some breadth of muzzle. Pleasing to handle as he is well made and quite masculine with good bone and feet. Very typical profile action just a shade close going away from me.
2 Small’s Blue Bang. Masculine with a flat skull and neat ears. Could be cleaner in eye. Decent depth of chest. Rather weak in bone and pastern and this was reflected in his movement. Dense double coat which is a good colour.
Junior Dog
1 Oliveria’s Jodoka The Fool. A smart, good moving youngster. Good skull and ears, clean dark eyes and good muzzle. Pleasing breadth and depth of chest. Well bone with good legs and feet. Quitre compact. A little short of coat currently but what he has is a good texture. Shows to advantage.
2 Jolly’s Poppykins Solid Gold for Doolish
