Parson Russell Terrier Club

Breed: Parson Russell Terrier

The Parson Russell Terrier Club Open Show 14th July 2024

My thanks to the club for the kind invitation to judge their special award classes. It’s always an honour to be asked to officiate at a breed club and especially so when the breed is not one’s own. The Parson Russell is a breed I have admired for many years and grateful thanks to the exhibitors for entering under me and giving me the opportunity to go over their dogs.

Special Award Classes and Junior Handling

Junior Handling 12-16 years

1, A. Smith, stood alone, but worthy winner. A brilliantly gelled team. Smart, neat, and watching me at all times without losing connection with her dog. Lines were straight and moving her dog at just the right pace. Everything I asked for executed with ease and in a neat manner.

Special Awards Junior Dog or Bitch ( 1, 3)

1, Hooley’s Forgefox Roll The Dice At Hoolmark, head of correct proportions. good length of neck flowed into clean, well placed shoulders, correct in upper arm, good length of rib an easy span, firm topline with slight arch to tailset, good hind angulations, little unsettled at first, but when he got himself together his movement was economical with free easy stride with plenty of rear drive. Presented in a harsh jacket with thick and pliable pelt. Very promising.

Special Awards Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (3)

1, Jones’s Chadbrook Enhance The Dance, strongly put together bitch, but still presented an overall feminine picture. Pleasing head proportions with keen dark eye and good ear set, good in angulations front and rear, firm topline with good set on tail, moved out with purpose. Presented in a decent jacket giving her the edge in this class, very well handled.

2, Biglands Heythrop Tamar, Correct in head proportions super topline which was held on the move. Pleasing body proportions, good length of neck into well set shoulders with excellent upper arm angle, super length of rib, narrow throughout and easily spanned

3, Roach’s Heythrop Tangle

Special Award Open Dog or Bitch (5,1)

1, Smith’s Ch Alncroft Foxtrot. This one took my eye from the moment I saw her go around, on further inspection she impressed me even further with her perfect balance and outline. I really liked her appealing feminine head which was correctly proportioned and keen expression framed with well placed ears. I found her narrow in front and throughout, tight feet on good thick pads. Her pliable jacket with pleasing pelt showed off her super outline. She is perfectly angulated in front and rear and moved out so well, covering the ground as her construction dictates .Possesses all the right qualities and all the right proportions.

2, Biglands Heythrop Topsyturvey, another quality bitch with similar attitudes to 1, who pushed 1 all the way. A pleasing feminine well-proportioned head, a good reach of neck into clean shoulders with excellent length of upper arm, lovely depth and angulated front capable of an easy span, well presented and balanced all through. Very sound both ends with plenty of drive and ground coverage. Loose and plentiful pelt, and shown in a harsh jacket. Pleasing picture with nothing overdone in any department.

3, Collis Riplington Dream Image

4, Smith’s Chadbrook Havoc

VHC, Smith’s Logierait Lisla
