Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)

SBD (1,0)

1. Fox’s Gowerston Granville, 17 mth old blue merle. Balanced boy with good bone. Level topline, ribbed well back but ribbing still to fully develop and tail of good set and carriage. Head of good proportions with rather large ears of correct set, corners of eyes could be more defined, correct dentition. Forearms could be closer to chest and would like to see more forechest development. Well angulated in the rear. When gaiting, he goes well on the go around and makes the most of himself.

MPD (2,1)

1. Langford’s Gowerston Geriant of Caprian. 8 mth brindle who has a super temperament and lots to like. Carrying good bone, he pleased in outline with muscular neck, ribbed well back and tail correct for length, set and carriage. Masculine head with lovely eye and ear and scissor bite. Forechest developing well for age and he stands on excellent feet. Moves out freely with purpose and has particularly good hind action.

PGD (1,0)

1. Field’s Gowerston Grantchester. 2 yr old tricolour. Strong muscular neck, firm topline when got hands on but somewhat heavier in coat over rump and acceptable tail carriage. Head of good proportions with masculine expression; ears of good size and set, eyes blend with coat colour but corners could be more distinct, scissor bite. Pleasing bone, sufficient forechest and stands on correct round feet. Nice strong rear action. Coat of good texture.

1. Goddard & Burgoyne’s Pemcader Diamond Geezer. Varied class with four very different dogs present. My winner was this 3 yr old blue merle who was so good to go over. Muscular neck, level topline, excellent ribbing, firm loin, correct croup and tail good for both set and carriage. Attractive head of good proportions, rather large ears of correct set, eyes with defined corners and scissor bite. Super front construction, well developed forechest and very good feet. Moves so well on the down and back. Would just like to see a tad more daylight but I thought him very nice.

2. Taylor’s Tamlin Millennium Falcon. Brindle just coming up to 2 yrs. Bigger all round than the winner. He was good to go over and nicely balanced with excellent neck, correct topline and tail pleased for set and carriage. Quality head; masculine yet free from coarseness, super eye and ears set on well. Stands on very good feet and moved out freely but not as typical in front action as winner. Excellent coat and presented in super condition and was very well handled.

3. Bishop & Essenhigh’s Ceranda Gower Charmer at Brynlluan

OD (3,0)

1. Bishop & Essenhigh’s Ch Faarup Yn Syml Coch to Brynlluan (Imp Dnk). 4 yr old red/white who was good to go over and presented a pleasing outline with neck of correct length to balance, level topline, good length to ribcage with ribs well sprung, muscular loin and tail good for set and carriage. Nicely proportioned head with ears of good size and set, clean-cut underjaw and scissor bite. Well developed forequarters with prominent forechest and forearms close to chest. Moved out freely with good carriage. RCC.

2. Clifton’s Joseter Willy Wonka. 2 yr old brindle who was also good to go over and was very well presented here. Muscular neck of correct length to balance, firm level back and excellent ribbing. Attractive head and expression with good skull to muzzle proportions, rather large ears of good set, very nice eyes with defined corners, moderate stop and correct dentition. 1. Taylor’s Ch Hanskes Just A Gigolo At Tamlin (Imp Fin). 9 yr old brindle who was a delight to go over and presented in first class condition. He appealed for type and presented a super outline with muscular neck, level topline, excellent ribbing, firm loin and tail good for length, set and carriage. Attractive head with good proportions, rather large ears of good set, eyes correct for colour and shape and scissor bite. Super front assembly with well developed forechest, forearms mould around the chest and he stands on good feet. Moved well on the down and back and was a pleasure to watch on the go around too. CC and Best Veteran. Very pleased to see he later won the Veteran Group.

2. Goddard & Burgoyne’s Ch Waterdeep Ranger One JW ShCEx ShCM. 7 yr old brindle who is quite different to the winner being a heavier build and a tad lower to the ground. Having said that he has plenty to like. Well-muscled neck, firm topline, well developed ribbing which extends well back and tail of good set and carriage. Masculine head with super ears and expressive eyes but overall preferred expression of winner. Well developed forechest and very good rear angulation. Moved well but winner had the edge.

3. Froggatt’s Gerefa Ghost Rider

SBB (2,0)

1. Smith’s Ceranda Gower Diamond JW. 2 yr old brindle who comfortably won here and I thought her a lovely type and she was pleasing to go over too. Nicely balanced with correct length of neck, level back, super ribbing, well-muscled loin and good tail carriage. Feminine headpiece with super ears, eyes of good colour but would like to see more defined corners, scissor bite. Well developed forechest, acceptable feet and firm, muscular hindquarters with good turn of stifle. Went very on the down and back. Very well handled. Best Special Beginners and later went Special Beginners Group 4.

2. Field’s Cruglwyd Cristyne. 22 mth old blue merle who is a completely different type to the winner. Neck of good length to balance, firm level topline, ribbed well back but tail carried a little higher. Pleasing head proportions with good dentition but preferred overall expression of winner. Muscular hindquarters with pretty good rear angles and she moved true when going away but winner had the edge on the go around. Well handled.

MPB (3,1)

1. Davies’ Joseter Ooh Betty at Ceranda. 6 mth old brindle who I thought a super type and she was a delight to go over. She’s a tad ‘bum’ high right now but that really didn’t detract such were her other qualities. Muscular neck of correct length, ribbing carried well back and tail of good length and set. First class head with the most delightful expression; good skull to muzzle proportions, the very best of eyes and ears and scissor bite. Correct front assembly, forearms moulding around the chest and stands on super feet. Excelled on the move and was a pleasure to see. RCC & Best Puppy and ended the day by taking Puppy Group 4.

2. James’ Gowerston Gracelyn at Bwthyn NAF. This 8 mth old brindle is another with so much to like. She has a tad more length but is no way unbalanced. Excellent neck, firm topline and good length to ribcage. Nicely proportioned head with rather large ears of good set, eyes of good colour but not quite shape of those of 1, scissor bite. She has good angles front and rear and stands on good feet but forechest still to develop. Moved out freely. Good quality coat. Super temperament.

Good length of neck to balance, firm level topline, ribcage carried well back but ribbing still to fully develop, muscular loin and tail of good length but carried a tad higher. Feminine head of pleasing proportions, ears good for size and set, eyes of good colour but corners could be more defined, correct dentition. Well developed hindquarters with good turn of stifle. Moves out freely and uses herself as she goes.

PGB (5,0)

1. Down’s Elessar Blue Diamond. Quite a diverse class for type which saw this 21 mth old blue merle come out on top. She is far from maturity but she pleased to go over and scored here on the go around. Well-muscled neck, firm topline, good length to ribcage but needs more time to fully develop as does forechest, muscular loin and tail of good set and carriage. Feminine head with good skull to muzzle proportions, lovely eye and ear and correct dentition. She stands correctly in front and has good feet. Went very well when viewed in profile.

2. Smith’s Ceranda Gower Diamond JW

3. Langford’s Caprian Adrianna JW

1. Fricker’s Ch Kerman Field of Dreams. 8 yr old brindle who won this class with some room to spare. Most attractive head with good skull to muzzle proportions, moderate stop, good eye and ear and correct scissor bite.
